Yes but they're at least based in western Melbourne. Calling Gold Coast the Northern Suns would be like calling Noarlunga the Northern Panthers.
Except Noarlunga isnt the 2nd highest club in the SFL and doesnt sell 3 of its game to locations that are the most Northern position

I think it's fine

Great to see Tarryn Thomas named this week, real feel good story that one.
Is he even that talented? I get the million chances the De Goey’s of the world get, the teams want to win games and he’s a legit elite player but has Tarryn Thomas shown really anything?

If you had a name that would be better suited to a low level pr0n starlet, you’d have your issues too.

So you're saying it doesn't make sense to have a team for all queenslanders while there is another team that also exists in queensland?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The suggestion of North Queensland kangaroos is the questionable one for me. QLD is a huge state, and North Queensland is so far away from the Gold Coast, it is almost a different state, and when it comes to sport, is viewed as such. It might encompass the three supporters they have up there, but would disenfranchise the Gold Coast & Brisbane supporters.

Something like the East Coast Suns, would encompass everyone.

VFL/SANFL averages:
Matt Crouch: 30 disposals
Jarryd Lyons: 34 disposals
Harry Sharp: 23 disposals 2 goals
Paddy Dow: 36 disposals 1 goal
Alex Cincotta: 31 disposals 1 goal
Jack Billings: 24 disposals, 2 marks, 1 goal

The Suns branding has been pretty shocking from the get go but if they last another decade then they are definitely due.

I swear he is a crows supporter especially after the crows hiring his sons band for their pregame years ago since then he hasn't said a good thing for port. One thing I know for sure he is not a port supporter.
To me this is a great example of there just being too much media around the AFL. There is so much media associated with the AFL that it just pumps out absolute garbage.

Amy idea why he goes with the name Dwayne?

It's not the name I'd be chosing.

Had to get out of there. Voss clearly doesn’t rate him or his fit, for whatever reason.
Have you seen him play?

Voss is doing a lot of things wrong at Carlton but not playing Paddy Dow isn't one of them. Awful footballer.

Sure he has his flaws (disposal, primarily), and he’s always seemed to lack confidence at the highest level.

But if he still couldn’t crack the team this week with all their injuries, the losses piling up and his VFL form, it makes no sense that he’s still there.

Hayes’ish.

It seems he was contracted to 2023 before Voss came on board. He hasn't been delisted because Voss hasn't had a chance to delist him yet.

That said, if Carlton are at the point of giving ****ing Lachie O'Brien another game, may as well play him for the sake of pumping up some trade value if nothing else. Although they may be working under the (not unreasonable) theory that it's better for his trade value to be racking up 35 touches a week in the VFL than 12 touches a week in the AFL.

Yeah this is true. Might need Queensland in there too somehow.

I think everyone missed my little dig at the Camries lol

AFL great Dermott Brereton has taken aim at players who stage for free kicks and called on the league to come down harder on those caught.
The former Hawthorn hardman fired up following a host of contentious decisions in recent weeks that resulted in players milking free kicks.

Brereton said the only way to start stamping out players who flop for free kicks is to start handing out financial punishments. “We can be called dinosaurs, but it does take courage to play Australian rules football in any era. “The one thing that our era was irked by was people flopping, people staging for the benefit of either a free kick or 50-metre penalty. “I can remember doing it myself as a young man thinking, ‘I’d get a free kick out of this’, and respected opponents standing over me while I was pretending to be hurt yelling and screaming at me, ‘Get up you weak cheating dog’ … with a few adjectives thrown in. “The insult hurt so much that I just said ‘I can’t be doing that ever again’.”

The forward great said the league must step in to eradicate the acts and called out players who use flopping in their games. “But it’s almost like some people in the media now say, ‘Oh, he’s challenged the tackler to do better, he has challenged the umpire to make a decision here’,” Brereton explained.
“No, you know what? We’ve got a 360-degree game that’s very difficult as it is and if we have players flopping and staging it is a blight on the game.
“We need to stamp it out … if we allow it to flourish in our game in the heartland of football, that just shouldn’t be (allowed), we shouldn’t allow that.
“We should be just stamping it out … I just think it’s nonsense and an awful way to go about your craft as a footballer, a professional footballer.”

What falls under 'staging'? Where do you draw the line?
Where does a forward 'putting some mayo on it' when feeling a defenders hand on his back sit?
How about the technique of lifting the arm to draw high contact? Dropping the knees?

Two of the biggest proponents of the above, Hawkins & Selwood, have been celebrated by the industry for a decade and both have multiple premierships and AA spots to their name.

Sorry Dermott, too little, too late.
The genie is out of the bottle and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

What did they think would happen when they let Duckwood get away with it his entire career?

The reality is they've celebrated big name cheats for years, and now you have young blokes without the same name recognition like Weightman or Ginnivan taking it to the next level and suddenly its a problem.

Joel Selwood has done irreparable harm to the game of football. What we're seeing now is the inevitable result of a generation of footballers who grew up hearing Selwood venerated by the media now making their own way into the game.
