What happened to that rule about not being able to bank lower picks - something about having to have the same amount list spots as picks or something? Because gee whiz aren't Gold Coast just making a mockery of trades this year.
By my calculation Gold Coast have turned pick 4 (2034 pts) into 23, 26, 27, 35 and a future end of first round pick (locked at pick 20) plus the bulldogs future first round pick.

If the Dogs surprise and win the flag next year that’s 4,666 points, which is the equivalent of picks 2 and 4. They’ve effectively generated a surplus of pick 2, spread over 2 years.

If the AFL are going to continue to allow the academies and Victorian f/s picks to dilute the draft they really need to fix the points system. Top 10 picks are way undervalued.

the crows burgess deal is type of points upgrade with GC i was hoping port to do
Sorry, we were too busy doing the exact opposite of that deal to facilitate trading for some depth players.

Every year my opinion that draft picks shojld be swapped and clubs should be given an allotment of points instead and then just do an auction for each draft position gets stronger and stronger

The academy / father-son matching system is equally as ****ed as the free agency compo. You shouldn't be able to bundle up a whole bunch of nothing picks to get done talent kid that goes high in the draft.

Kudos to those smart enough to exploit it though

Any way you spin it, something foul is afoot. There's no way they could make it so this goes with the "open list spots" rules.
Yep
Scrap draft picks

Give out draft points (at their current value) and make the clubs just trade the points prior to doing an auction for the picks instead of a traditional draft

What our offseason could have been: Giving up a second and third rounder to get Brodie Grundy and Ben McKay.

What our offseason actually is: Giving up a first rounder and Xavier Duursma to get Esava Ratugolea and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher.

While I agree with your view that we are overpaying for speculative players, you really need to get over McKay.

He’s was our main priority, and he didn’t chose us. Not much we can do if he doesn’t want to come.

Sydney just became a bit more dislikeable now that that prick Taylor Adams is there.

Nobody deserved to miss out on a premiership more than him.

That can't be right, I heard from Our Kochie that we had to sign up Our Kenny a month before he bombed out in finals again because that way we'd be able to attract all the players we wanted?

He may be a prick but Sydney are cleaning up trade period. They've brought in twice the quality that we'll be bringing in at half the cost.
