I can’t be the only person smelling the Adelaide classic ‘back the guys in to respond in a certain shellacking of a hapless rabble’ coming up this week.
Yeah, but you need to predict the consequences of this, i.e., that, hilariously, we will be overconfident favourites who will be playing having imbibed our bathwater. We all know how this can turn out, against any opposition. ;)

The point is we can only work with what we have this year before we go to the draft and or trade table. So not trying guys we drafted as midfielders is dumb, give them a try, if they are worse than the crap we’ve already got in there, who cares, our midfield is still shit.
Didn’t we draft Murphy as a defender ?

He's really not.

He's trapped himself into this position because he ridiculed the relatively straight forward proposition that the amount of targeting that Walker gets impacts upon the output of the other forwards weeks ago.
Like McAdam ? He’s been targeted and been effective

The simple thing is to look at how Fogarty went about it yesterday vs the first 2 games when Tex wasn’t there

Chalk and cheese

And then what?

You actually back our drafting team then to nail the draft pick we receive to be better than McAdam

Good point.

then again it is likely to be a pick in the 25-40 range. I'm confident there :p

B Doedee - Borlase - Jones
HB Hamill - Murray - Smith
C Dawson - Hately - Soligo
HF Rowe - Thilthorpe - McHenry
F Newchurch - Fogarty - McAdam
R O'Brien - Laird - Keays

I Worrell - Berry - Hinge - Milera
S Davis

Out: Crouch, Butts, Murphy, Brown
In: Newchurch, Borlase, Worrell, Jones

I can't see Tex and Rachele coming back with the bye the week after and give brown an extra week to freshen up.
Borlase needs to be given a go to see if he's on the right path to being an AFL KPD I see him being similar to what the Hartigan was, Worrell also needs a game his form has been solid in the sanfl all year and gives another option against Kennedy, darling and waterman. we know what we get from Frampton, time to see what else is in the cupboard and McAsey has been playing forward.
lets see what Newchurch can do, yes he has seagulled goals in the sanfl but he got to the right spot to do it, out goes Murphy but he only touched it twice after half time or Rowe but Rowe seems to one of our better ball users with ball in hand but needs to lift his pressure without the ball.
jones was very unlucky to be dropped last week, played well when subbed on against the cats.
Crouch experiment is done, thanks for your service but time to go in another direction with berry back in the middle.
schoenberg had some nice moments Friday night but also some really bad ones too, needs to sort it out and pedlar didn't play so wasn't considered IMO.

Using the Scorpus theory of picking the team i would like to see something like this to prioritise getting games into...

B: Jones, Butts, Doedee
HB: Smith, Worrell, Hamill
C: Cook, Keays, Dawson
HF: Pedlar, Walker, Thilthorpe
F: McAdam, Fogarty, Rachele
R: O'Brien, Berry, Laird
I: Hinge, Hately, Schoenberg, Soligo

Now for this week...

Murray for injured Butts
Newchurch for managed Rachele
McHenry for distracted Schoenberg

B: Jones, Murray, Doedee
HB: Smith, Worrell, Hamill
C: Cook, Keays, Dawson
HF: Pedlar, Walker, Thilthorpe
F: McAdam, Fogarty, Newchurch
R: O'Brien, Berry, Laird
I: Hinge, Hately, McHenry, Soligo

So changes this week would be...

Worrell for injured Butts
Jones (sub) for Brown
Cook for Crouch
Walker for Milera
Pedlar for Murphy
Newchurch for Rowe

Ned doesn’t get CBAs but he does get done near stoppage time around the ground and looks pretty good at times. Bit like Murphy, the issue isn’t giving these types some minutes, it’s that we play 3 pure mids that can’t play anywhere else. Laird, Keays and Crouch wouldn’t get those numbers in any other side as they wouldn’t be playing 100% of their TOG in the stat rich stoppage rotation.

But that’s how our club values performance, they don’t delve much further than the AFL.com stats page.
Laird is an All Australian Half Back. Keays kick 40 plus in the NEAFL. Its only Crouch that cant play anywhere else

Hard to believe we will most likely delist a pick 6 without ever playing him and this from a team who is desperate for KPP's. The kids confidence must about be at rock bottom.

He may get delisted in the future but it won’t be this season.

Galluci even got longer than this and he was a midfielder, let alone a key position player who are known for taking longer to develop

Just give McAsey a run of matches. What do we have to lose? We spent the draft value on him, see if he has something at afl level.

If not, oh well trade and move on.

But leaving him to languish in the SANFL without giving him a decent shot is negligent.

We have somehow ended up with a team that is generally small and slow, with below average footskills and decision making, and forwards who lack goal sense.

My preferred 22 by the end of the year is:
FF: Rachele, Fogarty/Gollant, McAdam
HF: Thilthorpe, Walker, Rowe
C: Dawson, Hately, Soligo
HB: Smith, Murray, Hamill
FB: Doedee, Butts, Jones
R: ROB, Keays, Laird
Int: Berry, Hinge/Worrell, Cook, Sholl/Pedlar

I'd like to see debuts for Newchurch, Borlase and Parnell at some point.

That makes the changes from this week:
Out - Crouch, Milera, Brown, Murphy, McHenry
In - Sholl/Pedlar, Walker, Jones, Rachele, Cook
Maybe - Gollant for Fog and/or Worrell for Hinge depending on form.

Looks like a better mix of speed, ball use and forward nous for mine.

This theory doesn’t really make any sense

Fog played v well but if he is to have a career he’s going to have to play next to other tall forwards that will also hopefully be good players

If fog plays like he did yesterday with tex back he will still play well , it’s all about what he did out there not who else was out there

True. But someone like Walker doesn’t even need to ask for the ball to be delivered to him and we would still just look for him. It appears any confidence or swagger Fogarty has is gone and he defers to Walker anyway.
If we bring Walker back he needs to be further up the ground and leave the 50 for Fog to work in. We need to see if he can replicate performance and to do that we actually need to look for him inside 50
