Preview R2: Changes vs. Essendon

Its not, he'd have been in our bottom 4 or 5.
To be fair he was in our bottom 1. This was a game where a loose half back should have excelled, and he got half the possessions of our tall half backs and that was with stat padding in the last few minutes.

Always loved Milera and still think he can get back to a high level, however to counter his defensive deficiencies he needs to not only get 20 at least posies, he needs to take on risky disposal and regularly pull them off. 13 risk free possessions simply doesn’t cut it if we want to improve. Nankervis would certainly be better than that.

Agreed, Whipping boys come about through continued unwarranted selected. That fits Milera being selected this week.

If that was the case then Curtin is clearly the player we drop. Makes us unbalanced with talls and has minimal impact out there

Keays played a blinder last time we played Essendon but if we did want to rotate the Sub he could be a good option but likely need his gut running on the MCG.

If we are looking to ease Draper in he probably can stay the sub next week too. Gotta look after him. Curtin needs game time and hopefully on the big expanse of the MCG he can get up the ground and show off his athleticism

I’d rest Tex .

Out : tex
In : nankervis

Curtin to play the Tex role .

This!

If all Tex can do these days is provide a CHF style linking role that nets him 3 kicks, 2 marks and 7 Hb then i think the games gone past him. The harsh reality is we want to push our best younger players into this team and I am not sure absorbing Tex into a mediocre half cocked role best serves us because that kills our flexibility and if we are relying on subbing him then he is cooked.

Me either. It will make Kako accountable going the other way.

With no injuries we dont need to be changing the team. Kako also played on a losing team against the hawks, clearly the Hawks had no issues moving the ball from defense to the forward line. Perhaps accountability will be something his coaches ask more off.
