We also lost to Richmond at home.

People seriously don't think injuries is why we lost that one do they?
I picked Richmond in that one, thought it was clear they were going to win.

We had lost Tex, Crouch, ROB was dropped, Rankine not there. They had Bolton coming back, Taranto and Prestia returning.

I thought their lineup looked MUCH stronger than ours.

It was all injuries nothing to do with the continual selections of McHenry, Jones, Schoenberg etc etc

Why do you think they were getting games?

Our depth was thin. We started the season with Tex and Thilthorpe injured in the forward line, Murray injured in defense, Soligo, Jones, Sloane, Curtin the mids - it's NOT the only reason by any means, but it had to mean something.

Our depth is clearly good enough to enable us to beat teams like Western Bulldogs at home.

We've played guys like Bond, Nankervis, Taylor, Dowling and Curtin recently who were "depth" at various points of the year when we had more injuries
And as they've developed they've gotten opportunities.

You're mostly talking about kids, and saying "why didn't they get chances back when they were younger?"

They've worked on their game and developed and gotten chances. This is exactly what a young side should do.

Yes, because a number in the media plus those on social media (the clubs own page) have been calling for it. You live in Melbourne and would have nfi.

Nicks is a reactive coach.

You think he should take credit for the youngsters coming into the side? Other than Curtin in the Showdown none of those other youngsters got a game until our season was literally shot to pieces after the first Hawks loss and when then we lost to Richmond well thats why we are here now. He was still going with the likes of McHenry, Smith and Schoenberg.
Those on social media have been calling for it?? F*** me ...

Has ANY club played like this all season?

How was Hawthorn's start to the year? Was that their coach's fault?

How about Carlton or Sydney now? Sack their coaches?

We started off the pace, with essential players not at 100%. Today's win shows there's some real promise there.
Careful, the "Sak Nix" brigade will be out in force with pitchforks for daring to think anything but a loss is all Nicks' fault and a win is us getting lucky.

There is heaps of promise, in some ways this season is showing more than last season with all the new faces and down form from our best players.

-All our draftees since 2020-2022 have played AFL.
-Only Rowe is off the list
-The only genuine failure is Pedlar (so far)

They've replaced players we've been carrying in Smith, McHenry and this year's Jones and all of them have offered more (no wonder we look better), Murphy is still in the team though so it looks like we can only carry 1-2 players and not 4-5 players (unsurprisingly).

How do you explain Hawthorn losing the first 5 games?
Young team backed in and playing a new game plan.
Mitchell has backed young players, has them running hard and moving the ball quickly.
The type of football we’re capable of playing, but did the exact opposite in the opening month.
Since then we’ve given some young guys opportunity and shown signs. But we’re behind them for a reason, they are a young team well coached.

Consistency comes with experience ....both in games & maturity

From yesterday's game:

Worrell - 28 games
Nankervis - 22 games
Keane - 30 games
Michalanney - 43 games
Bond - 5 games
Taylor - 7 games
Curtin - 5 games

That's 30% of our squad yesterday, who are still learning more mentally, how to concentrate for an entire game

Curtin got caught out ball watching twice ....that won't happen with more experience ....but youth still cost you games
So do proven spuds being selected, and guess what that stops youth getting experience.

Injuries that exposed our midfield and forward line depth.

A month of bad form, like Sydney, Carlton and Collingwood are having now and Hawthorn had then.

Every side in the league has had a month or so where they've gone off the pace. It was frustrating it happened to us so early and rattled us.
The loss to Richmond at Adelaide oval?

Mostyn already addressed that match, on this very page:

Cause our coach is shit scared to play youth.

Stop saying this like it’s true,
You can’t be serious, Sloane lol, soligo didn’t miss a game, curtin wasn’t in the mids, jones hasn’t been anything this year.
Keane effectively replaced Murray and Tex played 3/4 games.
Just stop it

A few fumbles early but better than Crouch or Laird today.

Crouch had lots of the ball as usual but I'm seeing crab tendencies again lately. Laird also had lots of the ball but is making too many skill and decision errors.

Both are closer to being out of the 22 than they were at the start of the season.
Berry was not better than Crouch, pull your head in mate, Crouch is our main and best midfielder and has been all season that he's played

I'm sure those 10 to 14 games of SANFL made all the difference

Tex was injured for game 1 against the Suns and then played every game until the Richmond game.

The likes of Dowling, Taylor and Bond were not prioritised because we decided to give games to McHenry and Smith. And why was that? Because Nicks didn’t trust his youngsters and he was under the believe he could make the 8 but when that went up in a puff of smoke he then bought them in.

Can we stop trying to rewrite history. The facts are clear, Nicks screwed up the first 4 weeks and once you do that you are chasing your tail for the rest of the season.

And look where we are on the injury ladder

Look even Nicks no 1 man WaynesWorld19 admitted Nicks went rogue bonkers changing our game plan, surely you’re not now putting it down to injuries?

Did you ever notice how we never played on? That’s a hint.

Did injuries force us to play a vanilla midfield?

Did injuries force Nicks to play Pedlar on Stewart and then give up?

Seriously question, do you think the Crows are the best sporting organisation in the world and never make mistakes? Because that’s how your posting comes across.

Didn’t Wayne say injuries today?
