No matter what gets said there are two umpire moments that totally affect the result.
Jones mark that wasn't paid.
The touched point that wasnt.
Of course thats only an observation on reality and not an excuse for the multitde of poor skills and decisions through 4 quarters.
The shame of it is that we were actually far better than them in almost every aspect of the game. When its not your day it just isn't your day.
One of the worst standards of football by two teams I've ever seen and the luck was with them.

This is some serious lord of the flies shit man

It always is after a loss like that.

Heartbreaking. Lots of misdirected anger.

Best 4-5 players were Carlton:

Cripps
Weitering
Jones
Walsh
Murphy?

We lost because our gameplan has us kick it 3 times on the wing, then to a contest to kill all momentum.

We lost because we are trying to play fast, play on football and including such notable sharpshooters like Gibbons, Lobbe and Casboult in disposal chains.

Frankly we lost because 4 tall forwards crowds the fifty and means every man and his dog rocked up, then they try to clear out and the only lead is from Matthew ****ing Gibbons.

Barker needs to move on. The one thing I genuinely expected in the off season was a shake up in our coaching ranks, and all that happened was bringing in HMac as a ruck coach which has seen wonders...

We need a Richmond style clean out of our coaching staff, while backing in the senior coach (like Richmond did). Bolts looks to have a great relationship with the players from the way we’ve seen him speak to the group on the Journey documentaries and the way the players react to him, but like Hardwick, he struggles on the tactical side of things and we need to being in staff that excel in this area.

More worries than the umpiring.
I couldn’t give a ****. You can’t just keep taking it. We’ve been shafted for years.

Did you know it’s in the rules that if you infringe the 666 rule in the last minute deliberately then it’s a free kick and 50m penalty. But no. Go get a warning. That’s all on the fluoro campaigners.

It was a fair dinkum battle all day to be the worst side. Carlton just got the honours.

A win in that game would have just papered over the cracks. Too many skill errors. dysfunctional forward line and seriously worrying lack of composure.

Spot on. I'd never go so far as saying I'm glad we lost .. I'm gutted. But there are clear issues which need addressing and will get more heat with losing.

Agree with this

Being a goal up or down at the siren here doesn't change the trajectory of this team at all. If anything it will be a better learning experience than a cheap undeserved win

I know wins are valuable, but we were that poor today it would be hard to celebrate. Most of the game I was actually wondering if Bolts could pretend to be happy with the game if we won in the presser, we were terrible

I agree to a point but this team needs a win to take the pressure off regardless of how it comes. Some of our shitness is due to a build up of pressure which is not good for a young team. I don’t think winning that would have glossed over the problems but it would have gone some way to getting some confidence back.

At least I can watch the Star Wars trailer and drown out the crap we have to put up with, following this pathetic team.

To be fair Hamish, we are currently playing our third string ruck.

Only person I am filthy on is Dow, it's becoming a regular thing for his errors to constantly result in missed goals. Cost us today big time.

O’Brien has carried his preseason form into the last 2 games and tbh so has Charlie. I was sought of happy O’Brien didn’t get dropped after one game because I think that’s confidence destroying but fmd he won’t get much easier opposition than today to show something. I reiterate he’s not a natural footballer therefore it’ll take lots of learning which is fine but at pick 10 he shouldn’t be a project player.
Weak draft a possibility?

Whatever it is we've now got a hole in the best 22 and he's not alone.

I'm not a coach basher, never have been (save the latter Mick days, which were truly dire).

But Bolton's on notice.

3 games.

No improvement in structure and movement inside 50, then we need to act.

Pretty much my feelings. I dont think coaches are going to get sacked as a mid week reaction anymore, but bolton may need someone to come in and help with the systems and protocols we deploy on matchday. Or at years end we may look for that person Ala the dogs!

we are a rabble, beyond words......poor cripps and walsh.
Petrevski-Seeton was in an under all day. He took a massive step in his development. Jones was excellent, but will have to watch his flamboyance against better teams. Walsh should be signed up to a 7 year deal tomorrow. Ruck stocks are poor. Witts killed our guys around the ground.
Poor first quarter, but after that should have put them to the sword.

I dare any of the “positive” lot to defend that rubbish. I don’t want to hear how we lack mature aged players, small players etc. Spare me that ****ing bullshit.

If a club is so reliant on individual talents to be a winning side then I’m not sure you’re doing it right.

They’re a different and better side but look at the Tigers last night. All of their key players out practically and they win a game away from home in a contest nobody expected them to win. They are well drilled. After watching that shit can anyone seriously argue we are similar?

We rely on individuals to win games.

That was an embarrassing performance even if we won. You play four ****ing talls which was already a questionable decision. Then you somehow have them structured so they are leaving Gibbons at full forward. He’s a ****ing midget for ****s sake and they bomb to him all game. This isn’t a new phenomenon either. I’ve seen them do this at various stages the first four weeks. Why?

In a game where Gold Coast were very ordinary we somehow played even worse and copped a loss because of it. Just terrible.

And don’t give me this wins don’t matter bullshit either. What a crock of shit. How long do you think you can sell that sort of bullshit to someone like Cripps? You don’t think at some stage he’s going to be sick of playing for a basket case and being beaten up every week for no reward? You don’t think recruit targets watch how many wins clubs get and use that as one way to determine where to play?

We also traded our ****ing pick for a guy nobody wanted in the top 10. Maybe he can play I don’t know. But we’re going to give away another top 3 pick unless some miracle happens.

There were some positives from individual in that game yeah. But I’m way too angry right now to post about them.

I didn't expect to win that one before the match, and I also thought a lot of people overstated our potential to win it, and the significance of it, but with a decent lead in the third and five up with a minute left, I changed my mind. Unfortunately those kinds of losses are so deflating it's very hard, especially for young players (not to mention supporters...) to front up again next week. I just hope they can use this shit feeling as fuel for motivation instead.

Oh, and to FIX OUR SYSTEM FORWARD OF THE CENTRE!!!!

So... Bolton is down there on the field telling the players kicking into our forward 50 who to kick the ball to? What a load of shit! Poor decisions going into the forward 50 today cost us a fair few goals!
Just because Bolton is not explicity saying kick it to Gibbons does not mean he shouldn’t take responsibilty for that type of shit happenning over and over again.
