AFL Toast RND 16: Defeated the Swans

Might be looking too much into this win, but I feel like something is clicking. I would say since the Port and Carlton game, we have had strong patches of the game being played on our terms in every game, minus the result. It’s no coincidence that we have been playing better footy when Merrett, Parish and co have been getting less touches.

In my opinion, Rutten has the group. The supporters might not be on board, but the players are.

I think we're trialling a lot of things.
I much prefer a kpd or two in the side whilst we do.

Essendon Membership team up and about

Horses for courses. Reid is going to be a star regardless, so I don’t mind him bossing in the VFL first before he does it in the AFL. Plus, if BZT continues he form from today, it’s thanks to his development in the VFL.

Spent the day with my daughter instead of going. Still an easy decision in the vast configuration of things, but those wins certainly rear their heads at the craziest times.

Is this post sarcastic?
Mills was almost unsighted, Heeney similarly, but still "won" a few free kicks in a way that would have made Weightman proud. Papley's kicking for goal is what started the rot for them and if he converted those three easy set shots it probably would have been a very different game.

Conditions?

sigh they can't even tank properly
Not sure what makes me feel worse, the fact they can't tank or the fact we haven't been tanking, we've just been shit.

Like I said earlier though, I'll take a win against those campaigners.

Having said that, the last thing I want is one of our end of season revivals only to be shit again next year.

However, IF (and only IF) we start winning because the game plan is clicking and it translates into next year, then that is preferable.

Otherwise give me a higher pick.

I'm happy to win as many as we can. Sure we'll get a high pick this year, and I'd rather the culture is one of not accepting defeat with a great big grin on our faces.

I'm happy to win as many as we can as long as it's the right way with the long term game plan.

Not throw everything out the window trying to save jobs scrappy offensive only wins that we arse over the line and won't win finals.

We rode our luck at times, especially with their shocking goal kicking after quarter time and us continually turning over the ball for a period in the third, but the endeavor and heart shown to stick fat was pretty pleasing. Hobbs and BZT pretty impressive. Hopefully Zerk can build from that performance and make it a little more tough for our selectors. Mass continues to estbalish himself and Hobbs response to some of those oppo players sticking it to him was absolutely glorious. Shiel's had a really solid month and a bit too. More of that please!
