There’s a touch of tetchiness engulfing this thread and many others. Reminds me of when I use to work. Damn shame that everyone can’t view this from a comfy chair in the lounge room. Short blacks within reach, the occasional chocolate treat and nobody disturbs your peace. It’s a beautiful day. The sun is shining. And people are miserable.

Carlton to win! See what your environment can do for you.
Well I must apologise and admit that I am slipping.....
I missed the really important and obvious reply

Not the comfy chair.....

I know what you mean Robbo, I took my kayak down to the beach this afternoon, but it was a little choppy on the bay to take it out.

Life can be really tough sometimes hey? Although I've got a round of golf organised for tomorrow afternoon down at Devilbend...a bright and sunny 23 degree day.

Then we can all kick back on the weekend and watch the Blues score their first win for the season :thumbsu:
Devilbend. Haven't heard that name mentioned in a long while. They ruined a good motorbike riding area by turning it into a golf course. Does Foxy's hangout still exsist?

Singular reference?
I was there live with mate and he went on about how diff Murphy is now. Handballing under little pressure to someone under more pressure and the such. I haven’t watched the replay yet. Will look Sunday morning to kill time.

As my blue heaven suggested fisher has been playing forward and Lang in defence. I’d say out: gibbons, LOB and a Lobbe. In: Lang, JSOS or Kennedy and Kruezer.

A midfield with Cripps, Walsh Dow Fisher & SPS pretty good to me as well.

SPS needs to learn how hard you have to work to be an elite mid - to do that he has to play as a mid.

If we took SPS out of the HBF you could replace him with Newman straight away and it would look pretty good, Plowman is another option and then we get to the prospect of MacRedie or Schumacher.

As for helping a player develop - we tried Cuningham to no success and this year we have tried Garlett for another miss - HBF isn't some easy spot where you just rack up possessions.
Bit tough on Cunners, played about 5 mins as a HBF’er, though having said that much prefer him forward now

So you’re not sure now. I’ll wait for the update. We kicked ten goals. Murph was directly involved in four. He had the ball plenty of times and played well.

Sorry to interrupt all the spelling and grammar lessons fellas. I'll briefly talk about the footy.

Having attended both home games this year one thing is obvious - we are definitely a fitter team and we have run all over Richmond and Sydney during quarters (and Port for that matter). The issue is we can't sustain it for the entire game - t's either concentration, game smarts (not lowering the eyes and hitting up players in the last quarter against Sydney) or too many passengers. I'd suggest it is all three.

We can't afford to have players having no or very little impact like we've had in the first three rounds.

  1. Fas - looked way off the pace. Needs some top performances in the VFL to earn a recall;
  2. Setters - looks almost there - but had a poor one last week. Still looks like he needs to build the body a bit
  3. Polson - good last week, nil impact against Sydney - may survive but wouldn't be surprised if replaced (not sure who by though);
  4. Phillips - OK the first two rounds but his opponents were BOG;
  5. Lobbe - looked way off the pace (father time has caught up with him);
  6. Gibbons - Unfortunately is playing a role he is not used to because of team balance. He's a prolific ball winner at VFL level as an onballer. Not sure why we haven't given him time in there;
  7. Ed - had a good game on the scoreboard last week, but had little impact as a forward the first two rounds. Is this his best spot for the team?
  8. Fish has been so so;
  9. Murph/Daisy/Simmo - have been ok - we need more from our senior players
  10. Thank goodness for Cripps, Weiters, Walsh,Big H and Jones - they have been our mainstays.

SELECTIONS:

For me...we need to select a team that will beat GC - not just persist with a theory (develop our young midfielders) that is not quite working.
  • Kennedy replaces Setters (who will be a very good player but needs to build his tank/body);
  • Kruez is easily our best ruckman; he replaces Lobbe leaving rucking duties to Kruez and Levi;
  • If Lang is ready he replaces Gibbons who has had no impact as a small forward. I've been a critic of Lang, however he knows how to kick a goal and the word was that his body wasn't 'right' last year
  • IF McGovern is out he is replaced by JSOS who has been in reasonable form and can play the small forward role
  • Play Ed & Murph more on the ball - with Cripps & Kennedy that gives us 4 mature bodies to mix with Dow, SPS, Walsh & Fish
Go blues!
