By all means let him pass on the captaincy.
Let him enjoy his last season and nurse him through the season.
Of any of our older group.I think Cotch is the most deserving of being carried.
Tbh cotch is still carrying our inside mid there is no us carrying cotch lol, that's laughable. The guy literally went headfirst into a pack won the ball and the free (surprisingly due to shit umps) and some giants guy came and gave him a cheap shot . We need another one of him he continually does these acts for us and is still carrying our inside mids. What a player. One of the few good ones today

did he? I didn’t see a change in style all year.

I’m not slagging the guy off. He’s been ******* amazing for us. But he’s been here 10 years. It’s not his fault the AFL changed the rules on him.

This is not a premiership team. Maybe it’s just time to part time ways. If he can’t change with times, maybe it’s time to give someone else a shot
Id rather not go back to the wallet days of coaches coming in and out mate. He has been amazing for us and if he wants to do it and has the hunger let him . Jesus Christ we turn on our own quick .

There is no chance to play finals. West Coast will beat Freo and Ess will either beat one of GC or Pies or both.

As much as it's going to be weird not being in the finals or the big dance for that matter it's been a great ride, seeing our great club win 3 flags in 4 years.

For RD23, if we beat the Hawks we remain in 10th place and get ourselves a good fixture for 2022 plus our great draft hand in this years draft...
If we lose to the hawks, then we go down to 11th as saints v freo in RD 23 and thus one of those teams will go ahead of us.

Wow, glad I had some friends over instead of watching it, #eco mates I am ready to join your ranks. Weird not being a chance anymore, but all the best to whichever club wins it this year.

we can still make the 8 campaigner lets ****en do it yeah we ****en got it :drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk:

Remember we get Noah B, Ivan the Soldo, and Dustin M all back next year.
Not to be flippant, but certainly in the mix for Dustin's fourth trophy.
Dimma is putting a new frame in the window.
Belichick, the NFL coach, is Dimma's stated role model and inspiration with six career trophies.

Are you saying 2022 flag guaranteed?

The only "game changing" player we can really add this pre-season is Tom Mitchell. So basically, do we think adding Tom Mitchell makes us a contender. And if the answers no, should we take a longer view ?

If Cotch, Houli, Reiwodlt, Astbury & Edwards all play on - then we will likely need to move on from Aarts, Garthwaite, Eggs, K-Mac, Chol, Parker, Caddy based on our strong draft hand, rookie promotions etc. We desperately need some new prospects ASAP. One thing i think we have to accept from 2021 is, that for as promising as our younger depth players looked - none of them have "Star" potential. Based on the season, Cant we honestly say that we ever see AA potential for RCD, CCJ, Dow, Ross, Naish, MRJ, Cumberland, Martyn, Ryan, Mansell, Ralph-Smith? If any of these kids had potential "Superstar" genomes, they would have sparked at some point. None of this crop has really grabbed the season by the balls, not many fails either - but no massive shining lights

We urgently need some potential stars in the ranks, we can't afford to sit on floaters when there is a glaring lack of top end talent in our young core. This team will be setting themselves up for "Ninthmond"jokes for decades if they try to "solider on" with grunts. We need to hit the draft hard this year and hope we strike gold with a potential star or 2. Without it we will struggle to get back over the hump

Yeah ok. Maybe he should stay for another 5 years. Be a 15 year coach.

it’s ok to ask the question. Don’t wet your panties over it
no its not ok to ask the question when the man has won 3 out of the last 4 flags lol, has one bad year and the question is "asked" when we have all learnt that one bad year doesnt mean its all over and thats all she wrote. would of thought you would of learnt by now

lol head first wins the ball only to kick it straight to a oppo or hang it enough for the intercept

I still can’t get my head on why no teams defy the stand on the mark rule? If a player only runs close to the mark, less then a meter then he is free to move as much as he likes? A few cm shouldn’t be that much difference. Puzzles me that players rush to the mark only to make them become witches hats.

we had noah plus martin and still played terrible this year.

Soldo im afraid will not be the same player the club is just doing right by him

We have had four long campaigns going deep into finals including a very long year in a hub. Three flags , loss of hunger with all the success , multiple injuries and just some old fashion bad form.Just a year from hell. I don’t know if we can win it next year but we will be a lot better than this year and we will play finals. This year sucked but it really isn’t the end of the world for us just yet.

Did he really? Guess one season doesn't make them bad, next season will def show him up. Balmy and Gale looked confident in the stands last night.

This is exactly where the stand rule killed us. Kick, mark, stand...then play on when the man on the mark can't apply any pressure, he has to stand like a statue so the next kick is under no pressure and hits the target and so on....up the ground under no pressure. It's made worse by the fact that a player can take a mark on the run, the umpire blows their whistle for a mark and even tho the player hasn't broken stride, they can't be pressured or tackled until the ump calls play on and by that time the ball is already gone to the next in the chain.

Our turnover game gone in a puff of smoke.

It's not an excuse for us this year, but it's one huge factor. We need to make changes which is exactly what Dimma said we'd be doing over the offseason about two weeks ago.

They're on the cigars right about now down in Geelong.
AGREE THERE MATE, BUT WHY ARE WE EASILY ALLOWING FOR

"PLAYERS TO hit the target and so on"???????

The reality is that our coaching department were too stubborn to adapt and incompetent to counteract the rule changes by devising a suitable game plan. The reality is we were trash in the guts all year and blokes on big pay packets declined so rapidly with form. Father time has caught up with us and we were basically too slow around the guts and bc of this failed to even do the basic thing of manning up on our opponents. The Suns game was our wake up call that we need to bring in some quality next year as our legends are done.

People don't get it M8 they think heroes just go on where in fact to continue an evolution you need to revolutionize!

Through selection. Reckon we should put a few senior players in cotton wool and pick some more kids

Bring in Naish, RCD, Martyn, Miller if he is fit
RCD Miller Naish are as good as gone hence he won't play them.
