You only seem him play against Tigers lets be honest. If you watched him every week you would see he's a hell of a lot better than Tom Mitchell. He isn't in Dusty's league but who is? But he is a lot better player than you think, some of his work in the contest with his hands is top class.

You can actually recognise a decent player from another team - no one will think less of you. For example Shai Bolton is going to be a superstar.

Watched a lot of Neale and agree, has Mitchell covered by a long way. Great player.

It's funny though, your general perception of a player is based on how they go against your team - not necessarily a more general view.

For instance I get sick and tired of constantly hearing how Dangerflog is undoubtedly the best player in the comp, a matchwinner extraordinare, blah blah.
Yet in any big game against us in recent memory he has failed - no question about it. Has gone missing when it really matters which is when a true champion should surely stand up.

Anyway, good luck next week (but not too much)

I got super salty at this email for some reason. Like, I knew it was coming. But to read that after paying $600+ this year for zero return, its a kick in the head from the AFL. Would have been nice to be able to transfer my ticket purchasing rights (or gauranteed GF access rights if we make it) to my brother in Queensland for eg. Against normal T&C's I understand, but what the hell has been normal in 2020!?

I live up here and that's not really been my experience. Every Club has some moron fans - yes we do too - but across the board they are OK up here.

I describe their latest claims more as a building of hope. God knows we have done that to death pre 2016 (many of us lost it in 2016 )

You can say anything you like about a future game of footy - that is it's rare beauty - that moment of hope and belief.

I agree. One post doesn't make an entirety of supporters.
Having said that supporters do tend to take on the persona of their coach Ala Chris Scott and let's face it Chris Fagan ain't Lee Mathews.
A Brisbane Lions supporter was on SEN yesterday telling Garry Lyon to stop talking about the home ground advantages. He said that Brisbane have no home ground advantage. When Garry explained that living in your home town and not in a hub definitely is a significant advantage to that team the caller replied that the MCG was a greater advantage.
I think that when teams start to get good they start to get cocky but also stressed out, a bit like the nervous 90s in cricket. You're almost there but those last runs are so hard to get.
Completely understandable really.
Having said all that we can't lose to them this season. Must cash in while we can.

Reckon if you looked into it he'd have the least frees of any best 22 tall forward in the comp in the last 4 years

Dont think it varies to much to be honest. You could pick the odd one maybe, but it will be more about how they play, for example:

Last year, Round 22 and Qual Final, he received 5 frees and gave away 1 against the Lions.
2018 played them once, received 2 and gave away 3
2017 played them twice, he received 2 frees, gave away one
2016 played once, received 2 and gave away 2.

His entire career so far he has received 275 and given away 265 (1.0 vs 0.9 rounded - avg per game)

Hawkins by comparison received 255 and gave away 279 (0.9 vs 1.0 rounded - avg per game)

Kennedy by comparison received 283 and gave away 262 (1.1 vs 1.0 rounded - avg per game)

Going back a bit.....

Alastair Lynch recieved 228 and gave away 348 (0.7 vs 1.1 rounded - avg per game)
