Let’s see who puts their hand up in todays VFL game at 11

Coulthard is more than likely to be in our bests….he’s picked up our structures quickly…clever player

Banks & brown - both have been playing well recently and either one should get a gig in seniors soon

I’m hoping 1 of Bauer/Bradtke/Nyoun play well today to get a gig
where’s our mids?

Yep, that’s the disappointing part. Both Hardwick and McQualter are refusing to play debutants other than Young and I don’t know why.

Believe it or not, but we’ve used 31 players this year despite our injuries. That’s the second-lowest behind St Kilda.

There is either an issue with our drafting or an issue with our selections. It has to be one of them IMO because we select like we have 31 viable players outside of Gibcus and Tarrant. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Reality check now

Starting to think we’ll only finish 4th
forget last night

the new bye hoodoo, afl guinea pigging us with the new bye format and scheduling an away game on purpose against a top 4 team, and the flu

throw it in the bin and move on. season starts next week

biggest concern and it is bleeding obvious is our clearances. where’s our quality mids? where’s our system? they put 1 back from centre and cleared it every time. cotchin dion dusty all old. dow and these blokes don’t fill me with any confidence. get ross in there he is a natural mid. recruit some. we can’t win games with those sort of numbers.

No doubt that our forward line is our biggest concern. I think Cumberland will be a player, even last night he was the best of a bad lot. At least he marks the ball and moves around, not that the ball got down there much. After that besides Bolton, there is not one other that you would bank on to get past 50 games. I like the look of Coultard, and think Bradkte has got some tools to work with, a bit like Miller, but there is a long way to go. Lynch has still a few more seasons in him so that will help next year.

In regard to the midfield, like last night, when Taranto was off we were awful in the guts. Hopper is okay but we need another 2 coming through. I'm still a Sonsie fan, so there may be one, but we were so slow in there last night. I was hoping that they might throw Ross in there last night, he at least stands up with the ball and distributes it without hot potatoing it. But they seem reluctant, and he is going well on the wing. Maybe it was just one of those nights.
Agree mate
One more coming through would be nice but think our mid depth is okay right now (not great but ok)

Instead of Graham getting a shot in the middle for the final qtr would of preferred Ross get the run
Really frustrated with Graham atm and feel he is going backwards
Needs a spell in the twos to get his head right or something

theres no way the rest of the team didnt have the flu too. they were like stuck in concrete. couldnt run

dusty was farrken spreading his germs everywhere at the last training session . they had pics

where’s our potential a graders? i am grateful we got rance cotchin dusty jack and dion. where are the new ones?
Clarke, Sonsie & Banks all could be potentially A graders and had that tag when drafted
But all still only 2nd year players
Very rare for players to be A graders in the first or 2nd year
It’s generally not until the 3rd or 4th do we really start to see what they can offer

Look at Bolton he played pretty much exclusively in the vfl for his first two years and still took another 2 years before he was considered an A grader

Scary isn't it

Clarke goal in the last quarter only came about because Hugo couldn’t hit a simple 20m kick under no pressure that sailed over jacks head by about 5m.

At least this breaks our run of being in every game for the past 30 games or so, we were really out of it from the start. So hopefully tHis means no more close losses loll.....
The games very an outlier in that respect , that’s why I’m holding my judgement to see how we rebound, twas a shock loss tho and another challenge to mini to see how we go about the next month

They are the masters of sensing an easy kill at home. So many downhill skiers among their side that run forward of the ball. We did nothing at all to try and change it up.
I think you may have picked the problem we had last night. The lions mids do run forward of the ball and the midfield we had last night was not quick enough to go with them. This has been our problem all year. To me our problem started when we recruited both Toranto and Hopper. I guess it was just too good to pass up. Then we kept Jack Graham and Trent Cotchin. Add to them Dusty, Jack Ross, Liam Baker and Thompson Dow and we have more slower paced inside mids than Carlton. The only quick mids are Bolton and Short. We need to get more outside midfielders in the side and that means hard decisions need to be made on Cotchin and Graham in particular.

Humm you obviously haven't watched any VFL matches as there isn't much to see there and the fact you see Miller Clark Ralf etc picked every week says it all. Wish it was different but it's reality.
Mate I watch the VFL most weeks. Don't give me that shit.

We didn't play well but bears played out of their skin. At one stage late in the second quarter their disposal efficiency was close to 90%.
That's because our pressure was dogshit

That’s what he wanted the oppo to think too. The guy is a genius
