Lol giants fans are a little sensitive on their board. I suppose when anyone gives that irrelevant club attention they’re shocked.
Anyway I think George stays in next week, I’m sure he’ll convert better, stengle deserves a run but not sure who else to bring in at this stage

GWS have a board on here?

Does Gil pay people to post there or what?

Just Plastic franchise that’s all .

Last year when we brought in players in the back half of the season they all took their chance with both hands. Cellis and so far from admittedly just one game Bolton have not. We can't persist with such players. Finals will be here soon and we can't afford to carry anybody.

Can't believe how poor Trent was last night. Only just going through the stat sheet now after being at the game and confirming only 1 tackle against his name in a game we lost by 2 points...

You can bag George Bolton Ellis Moore all you want but that's a reallllly poor effort from the captain of the club. Hope he's not playing injured.
Is sore no question.

Guys we'll still be top at the end of the round, unless Collingwood or West Coast enter record territory this afternoon. Our fate is in our hands and it's not like we've got a tough run home.
Hope Pies win.Means W/Csts away record holds to form.If they win its a huge bonus for them.
We play the Pies in 2 weeks so if we win its back to the game buffer.
The smoky is Port.

Bolton and C.Ellis are junk. Castagna had a poor game too.
But Dusty and Cotch need to cop some heat to. Senior players butchering the footy.
Cotchin needs to learn how to kick a goal. He shits his pants when kicking for goal

My views:

Not overly concerned about the loss. The 0-4 Interstate record means that IF we win the flag now, unfortunately the narrative will be that it’s tainted to a degree because we can only win in Melbourne. Obviously there is more to it when you look at all 4 games in a vacuum (Adelaide GF rematch, WEagles unstoppable, Port without Dusty, GWS mini final) but as the old codger said, our pressure doesn’t seem as manic interstate as it does at home. But one more interstate game against the Suns means the worst is over.

Also have to give kudos to GWS. They were able to have momentum for the start of the first, second and third quarters. When we had it, we didn’t make the most of our opportunities. Instead of being 2 or 3 goals up at half time we were 2 points down. Instead of being within a goal at 3QT we were 19 down. To me, that was the game in a nutshell. Thought Whitfield was great as were Ward, Taranto and Shaw. In key moments some of the lesser known GWS players stood up. They played a game that straddled between their own and stopping ours. Credit where credit is due.

Onto our negatives. Firstly CEllis. I’ve given up hope of him ever being the stud I originally thought he was going to be, but always thought his skills plus relative versatility would see him as a glue guy. The kind that are handy to have as your 23-28 player range. But last night took a massive chunk out of my confidence in that. For 80% of the night when he got the ball he made the right decision and used it well. But for a guy with a famed left slipper to have 10 possessions of which 3 were kicks isn’t great. Nor when one of those kicks is a behind from a set shot dead in front and the other out on the full. Both in important moments. Yet, I can kind of live with that, what got me was there was four or five instances where he needed to go hard into the contest, and he didn’t. He went into the contest, so I am not at all calling him soft. But whereas guys like Graham would have gone in and hit bodies hard and create space, CEllis went in in such an unimpossing way. Those are the small 1% that turn a 50-50 contest 80-20 in your favour.

Castagna had a mare. Dropped an easy chest mark, poor bounce on the run inside 50, and obviously poor set shot kicking. He has always been unpolished, but never THAT unpolished. Gotta give him credit though, kept backing himself in. Hard to see him ever playing THAT bad again.

I get some of the dislike regarding Bolton. Especially on the back of Stengel kicking 6 in the VFL. Thought he competed well in the air and on the ground. Similar to Rioli at his best, he kept the ball alive when most small forward would have settled for the throw in and ball up. Thought he also wanted to be too much a teammate and handed off when he should of gone himself. Obviously that out on the full set shot killed a massive chance, and that’s the lasting memory we have of his game. I’d say give him a few games in a row to get settled, but then again with Baker and Stengel breathing down his neck, a change would be justifiable.

Wasn’t Bachar rusty? A few handballs not on point early, a few times the game looked too quick. Got better I thought as the game went on, and obviously will be better for the run.

The positives, clearly Rioli. But I thought Cotch, Martin, Vlastuin, Lambert, Edwards were all very good; but all looked 5% off at various stages. To kick 10.17, with some of our best players not playing overly well and to only loose by 2 points is a relative positive.

It’s a wierd game when you think back on it. No one, to me at least really played a 10/10 game, yet we were still so close. But again, credit to GWS, thought they played better for longer, capitalised when they had the momentum and did well to a) get first use of the pull and then b) to generally use it well.

Only out I’d say 100% is CEllis for Baker. Both Stengel and Menadue should also come into calculations

Last year we were looking for players. This time around as soon as Butler, Broad and Graham are ready they will come straight in.

I've only watched the first half on replay, but Corey Ellis and Bolton have done nothing wrong to warrant the abuse gone their way. Bolton has put his head over the ball more times in half a game that Butler has in a whole season. Ellis while quiet has done nothing wrong. At half time we are all over them and if it wasn't for the shocking misses on goal by Cotchin and some howlers by Martin we would be in front quite easily. Ellis and Bolton must have shocking second halves.
A roast goes to the umps, especially with the Toby Green over the shoulder free (when the senior ump 10m away gets over ruled by another 40 away,) and Martin who was legitimately picking up a ball and not dropping to his knees. And a special roast to Richo in the commentary box who has agree with everything the umps have done so as not to appear bias.

Our premiership team is full of guys in the same boat as Ellis only 12 months ago. My point is there’s nobody knocking the door down in the 2s and we have injuries. Give him a run of games and then have a look when we get a few back. I thought he was good last week and ok last night. Lots of guys worse last night.

Looked good last week? 3 kicks 1 tackle. Only Curtly Hampton had less kicks. Stop lowering the bar. We are a premiership team. He has been poor.

Just watched the 2nd half again because I'm that sort of moron, but seeing the GWS players (understandably) celebrate after the match reminded me of us a couple of years back when we had those 'character building' wins on the road. We've come a long way.

The loss hurts but unlike other years it's only mental. It doesn't affect our ladder position. Our boys still know we're the measuring stick - players to come back and the potential to go to a new level in the 2nd half of the season as the pressure mounts on those around us.

Drop a game we should've won, but remain top of the ladder and flag favourites. Good to be a Richmond supporter these days...

Never read so much crap in a post before. My opinion on CEllis is not preconceived, but based on four years of evidence of what he’s dished up.
I would love all Richmond players to make it , but the reality is on average a handful of players get delisted year in and year out. Do we continue to reward a 26 gamer over four years who’s shown sfa or do we throw games into guys like Higgin who have steam rolled passed him? Stengle Baker and Naish have more upside than this bloke so why would you continue to give this bloke a game?
Also FYI CEllis had two opportunities to stand up and be counted when the game was to be won and he failed abysmally.
I think you’ve clearly shown your bias towards him and appear to be just a fanbois as nobody could possibly defend his game last night.

How am i a fan boi? As i said read my post again i said he probably doesnt hold his spot. Im defending him against you because you continually attack him every opportunity you get. But then i forget ypu are the expert in all things football. Your opinion of Ellis IS biased. Have not seen you be critical of 20 other players last night that were beyond their usual output but instead attack him. Hell you could have even had ypur posts pre written before last night.
My original point was and it seemed to missed by you, is that the loss was put down to a number of factors. Senior players not standing up, missed opportunities, but all you see was Ellis and Bolton being in the team as the reason we lost. These 2 deserved their chance on the seniors and werent the reason we lost.

Spot on

If we lose at metricon in a few weeks I'll believe it's all mental but for now I'll mark it down as shit footy with some bad luck.

In it against Port playing stupid footy, in it against a stupidly pumped up Adelaide hell bent on revenge until a couple of brain farts and got demolished by West Coast at a ground we've never played at before.

Dickhead oppos already trying to say our flag win will be tainted if we win it this year are just demonstrating how mentally ****ed we have them all now that they have to look for any opening to bring us down. A strong, reigning premier in Richmond is still cussing them ongoing mental distress. Let it continue.

How shit was Richo in the commentary, I was really disappointed in his call Martin did nothing wrong and got penalised Toby Knob Head Green plays for every free kick and get's away with it. The umpiring was ordinary again but it's our fault we lost last night.

On the Richo commentary he turns into a flog when he is on TV, then he will whinge about the umpires on the POD cast go figure.
