Yeh that's why I'm not worried. Being the reigning premiers and having the media talking as up all year as the clear leader just puts a massive target on our back. Teams play harder against us because they want to test themselves, which goes up another notch when we're going to their home ground.
All 4 losses that team has played just about their best footy of the year.

In a final it won't be like that.
Spot on, as other enlightened posters have reminisced in previous threads we beat premier teams when we were missing finals. Away losses have been to teams in form with a lot on the line particularly last night. We had a few youngsters and still could and should have won. I watched the seconds yesterday, challenged early and went on and smashed Norf, awesome afternoon at Holm Park, couple of cans, kick of the nut with nephews, pressure for senior spots, all is as it should be.

not sure about all of them, but definitely remember, at least 3 of our loses have been in dewy conditions. we have dropped chest marks and fumbled more than I remember in a game. the conditions don't suit our go forward pressure style. lucky, there is no dew in September at the mcg.

Well that was a result we pissed against the wall , by no means disgraced just disappointing we couldn’t finish off our work. Was George dr Jeckyl or mr Hyde last night , FMD a couple of those snaps looked like an Irishmen on his first training run not using a round ball. I’m sure he doesnt need reminding . Bolton did nothing to firm his spot in fact he’d be close to a line being drawn I reckon, not sure they’d go another youngster , Lloyd will come into calcs I expect. Let’s get it back Together next week tigers
Watched Lloyd yesterday he’s a gun, kicks goals from everywhere. KMac looks AFL standard as well, Naish has class I gotta mention. Plenty of other good stuff in the VFL team, don’t microwave anything.

Not nearly enough credit being given to GWS, methinks!
An early final for them and they hit the game hard, were all over us early and built what ended up as a winning lead, they are a good side anywhere but particularly at home.
That said, even with a lot of players down and our disposal and conversion being abysmal we almost won the game.
How did this happen? I believe we got so close, and really should have won, because we kept playing our way, attempting to pressurise them, doing something for the team even if you're struggling and just persisting.

Not sure if some posters really feel that the premiership this season is a given! I sure as hell don't believe that and we'll still need a few things to fall our way to go B2B. We are still on top and giving ourselves a great chance to contend again, that is all.

The club will analyse the loss with their usual professionalism and I'm prepared to back them in these days.
If they make wholesale changes or go in unchanged... so be it.

It port and Eagles get 1 and 2 then that’s a very good chance of the GF imo . So as much as I hate them I actually want Collingwood to win today , as if we did happen to fall to 3 or 4 and they get 1 or 2 we still play in Melbourne 1st final . We also want Norf to win today so keep swans two games behind us to , would be great if freo won today but can’t see that happening .
Port still to play GWS, eagles, pies and crows so they would not want to stuff up today.
Eagles to play pies, power, kangas in hobart, demons and finish with bears in brissy

Demons are on tenterhooks, play cats and crows away next two, get let off v suns and then finish with swans, eagles in perth and giants, could miss finals.

Swans play norf away today, let off v suns then bombers away, pies, demons, giants and hawks.

Sides below us have nightmare runs home, we have an easier run home than all of them.

Port will beat freo easily unfortunately , we need Norf and pies win today keep
Swans at bay .

People have been touting Corey Ellis upside for the last 2 years, when do you say we have tried but he is not up to it?

This seems like B Lennon all over again. Good players should be able to find the footy especially in the back half.

When you continue to attack the soft targets you lose credibility in the argument. Bolton and Cellis were average (although coreys stats were similar to Grahams) but
So were
Caddy
Grigg
Moore
Cotchin
Dustys kicking
We can call out the soft targets but lets not ignore the guys that didnt stand up when the game needed to be won.
In regards to changes.

Ins from

KMAC- like Bellis doesnt need to be ripping the 2s apart as some players just play better in the 1s. He is a proven performer and a gut runner. Think he needs to come back.if anything for his defensive pressure.
Towny- straight to Carlisle this week and Howe next week.
Stengle- Deserves an opportunity
Soldo- against Lopping longer is a reasonable match up. Nank either rests or plays fwd
You’re opening sentence is a contradiction to how all FC operate professionally and just an ultra poor post. So you’re suggesting the club drop the senior players and keep the bottom three under performers in? It’s your bottom core that will be found out when the team is being tested in a finals like game.
Now CEllis failed yet again just like in the Geelong game last year. Impacting Corey Ellis to Graham says how far away from the truth you are and actually embarrassing. Bolton as I said in his thread isn’t simply ready for the big dance and should be allowed to develop in the vfl. Again I’m not in the minority here with these opinions, but do proceed to tell me that I’m alone .

pie fan in that thread “if we win today we should be considered the best team in the comp” :drunk:

MB oppo posters aren’t normal , few bottles short of a six pack . They carry on like they know everything about football when in fact they just have NFI . Then there stupid threads carrying on like a bunch of ****ing school girls .

Re read again sunshine and dont tell me how a FC operates. You picked on the soft targets but havent acknowledged the fact that senior players didnt stand up when the game needed to be won. Instead dumped it on CELLIS and Bolton. I dont regard anything you say about Cellis as youve been flogging that horse to death for months and your view has no credibility to me as your ideas are preconceived. All i stated is that Cellis was our highest tackler which is the role Graham plays and he was be compared to graham pregame. Do i think he should stay in because of that, probably not. But it adds balance to everyone attacking the soft target.

Take your own advice above and get over yourself being the internet cop.

I think last night boils down to the first 15min of the first quarter and the first 15 of the third. We just weren't on - and to their credit they were able to put scoreboard pressure on us, but the main thing was that we just didn't wear them down like we've been doing to teams. Take out those patches and it's 71-30 at 3QT AND we're just about to break them open like we do when we are on for the whole time.
I'd liken it to the Port game. We were OK for most of the game, but were down for small patches and our opposition pounced on that.

Our premiership team is full of guys in the same boat as Ellis only 12 months ago. My point is there’s nobody knocking the door down in the 2s and we have injuries. Give him a run of games and then have a look when we get a few back. I thought he was good last week and ok last night. Lots of guys worse last night.

Shit 3rd quarter/bolton and George kicking ****ed us

Were easily the better team and without having to use ducking and flopping to get us there

Umps also have a Gil special "no 50s against GWS" rule. Would've had 2 certain goals if it wasn't for that (provided George wasn't the kicker)

Never read so much crap in a post before. My opinion on CEllis is not preconceived, but based on four years of evidence of what he’s dished up.
I would love all Richmond players to make it , but the reality is on average a handful of players get delisted year in and year out. Do we continue to reward a 26 gamer over four years who’s shown sfa or do we throw games into guys like Higgin who have steam rolled passed him? Stengle Baker and Naish have more upside than this bloke so why would you continue to give this bloke a game?
Also FYI CEllis had two opportunities to stand up and be counted when the game was to be won and he failed abysmally.
I think you’ve clearly shown your bias towards him and appear to be just a fanbois as nobody could possibly defend his game last night.
