Couldn’t watch the game live but seen the replay. My observations:
Another disgraceful umpiring effort, 13 to 24 for a team that dominated and was often first to the ball.
Castagna is woeful, cannot hit targets by foot or by hand and cannot take a set shot. Was getting in the way of his teammates. Been in the system long enough and while athletic, football IQ is close to zero.
Moore I’m doubtful about, reminds me of an athletic Todd Elton, provides no more that Vickery or Griffiths, dropped marks, poor set shot, not sure he’ll make it, I’m getting moore and moore comfortable with Lynch coming even though I’m not sure that I’d pay him him what he’s reported to be asking.
Menadue, spent as much time on the ground as Martin and did very little, keeping the seat warm until an injured player returns.
McIntosh, bumbling but does harass, poor skills and could be a major liability in a cut throat final.
Martin, worth every cent, 14 score involvements, his vision opens the game up for a number of players and creates opportunities from nothing.
There is a big gap between Reserves and senior spots in a top side, I don’t think our depth is as good as some people believe. Luck with injuries is Richmond’s biggest threat to winning this flag.

No more games at Shitihad. yay

I know we obviously play well at the g , but we have played some good footy at Etihad this year ! Some of our passing last night was elite !

Thought tap work wise was one of Nanks better games from centre bounces

One of the commentators said last night "the Tiges are even quicker here than the G if thats possible

Collingwood posters, if you are reading this, we are gonna smash you like the shit truck, no talent, loser team you are. To think you think you’re a chance is about as insulting as it gets when compared to the greatness that is this Richmond team. You’re gonna get schooled you minnows.

Why jinx our chances and give collingwood supporters a chance to rub your nose in your own arrogance? (Although inclined to agree with you :)

About 4 next Saturday alrhough we're on a hiding to nothing next week. Win they have injuries. Lose and its the Pies greatest win in history

**** YOU BRANDON ELLIS AND JASON CASTAGNA. had a 20 leg Multi. Every leg got up except Ellis for 20 and Castagna for goal.

Cost me $1700
Gamble responsibly

Toast: My mate who got me a Medallion Club ticket on the wing. Great viewing and real beer in real beer glasses! :)
Toast: The toasted meatball ciabatta I had before the game, the same standard as Meatball's game. :thumbsu:
Toast: The thoroughly professional first half performance. We brought the pressure and the Saints couldn't handle it. Pressure was off second half and the game petered out but that's ok in my book.
Toast: No injuries, apparently the Pies have some!, and no reports.
Toast: Prestia, Martin , Reiwoldt, Short and Lambert who were my best five.
Toast: The rest of them who all contributed something. Not every player will star in any game.

Roast: Those who are mini melting over a 54 point stroll over reasonable opposition at Shitihad Stadium. Although I will defend their right to have a whinge in this fair country of ours.
Roast: Still winless on the moral victory ladder!

Observation: McIntosh, worked hard to offer an outlet when we were coming out of defence but more importantly he worked harder to prevent easy outs for St Kilda, a very important cog when we ramp up the pressure game.
Observation: Moore, a nearly night for Callum. Got into good spots and just missed impacting but fought on and never dropped his head.
Observation: Menadue, it must be hard for a younger player to impose himself when our better players are all playing well. They get ball that he misses out on, not disgraced at all.
Observation: George, trying too hard is all and missing his soul mate, Butts. Not worried at all and still best 22.

Outs: Really depends on who is available.

Would love to multiquote but not that intelligent.

Just so we’re all clear. Can you please refer to the following Bristol stool chart and tell me which grading you think captblood is referring to

Nah I meant for me. Hate shitihad

My take after watching the game slightly more sober than last night:

Have to echo the sentiments of us taking the foot off the pedal. Yet (and I wasn’t at the game some would love to be told if I’m wrong or right) St Kilda seemed to put another one or two players back in the second half, and just tried to slow the game to stop the bleeding.

Was really happy with our first half in entering the ball inside 50. I think that would have been one of the criticisms in the team review after the GWS game. Our ball use was better, forward lead patters where better and when we did bomb it to the top of the square - for the most part - the read between the aerial contest and those on the ground was better. Still not a 10/10 as I felt that all the way through the game there was a lot of opportunities that we didn’t exploit to the fullest.

The negatives, you have to start with Menadue. Similar criticism I had about CEllis last week about going hard into contest can be applied. But he did work hard Menadue which was pleasing. If Houli, Graham or Butler are ready to return he would make way your think. But I’d like to see him given another opportunity.

Then there is Callum Moore. As has been echoed in previous posts, heading into Finals it’ll be Townsend v. Moore for that second tall spot. He did his primary job well tonight, which was to keep Carlisle occupied and not go plus one in the air. To a degree, Jack’s game was influenced by Moore’s ability in this regard. But that spot will come down to which player offers more than that. I’d love to hear Leppa’s take on Cal. To me he seems to read the ball off the boot quicker than his opponent. The amount of time that he got separation from Carlisle was striking. But he seems to not read the actual land spot of the ball and so overruns the ball fairly often. I also think his relative lack experience shows as there was a few times that there seemed to be a disconnect between the midfielder delivering the ball and where cal wanted the ball to go, ending in a turnover. Then there are the dropped marks which he really should clunk.

I’d keep him in to be honest, as long as he keeps the second tall at bay eliminating oppo +1 chances I think he’s worth persisting with.

Onto the positives. I thought Caddy and Martin got back into some form which is pleasing. Then there is Neon Dion. I wish there was a camera dedicated to him cause it seems as if his running patterns are artful. Where to go, when to go and when to slow. His impact on the game was massive. When you think about it, our midfields great because of the depth, but also the versatility. Prestia’s ability to read it off hands is elite, Cotch is the contest ball king, Shedda the Extractor, Lambert out runs everyone and then there’s that Dustin Martin character. Thought he deserved three votes. Or maybe 2.5 split with Dusty for 1 and 2.

Gotta give some love for Broad. Had a broken face, came back early and didn’t shirk one contest. Wasn’t a perfect game, nor would I say his best, but what a solid contributor he is. As Grimes gets almost universal acclaim as one of the most underrated players in the comp (making the underrated claim somewhat oxymoronic) Broad is slowly developing in a fashion where I can see us saying the same things about Broad that we do Grimes. Scary to think he has played less than 30 AFL games.

Lastly, Higgo. I said about a month back that his biggest issue was either the game is too fast for him at the moment or he expects the game to be faster than it is. Either way he seems way too rushed. Last night was definitive for me in that he has now settled nicely. Has picked up the pace and is making better decisions and his disposal looks better. Good to see him kick another snag last night too.

A good warm-up (without meaning to sound disrespectful to the Saints) for a Collingwood team that will no doubt get themselves up for the contest.

Ins and Outs: No Change.

If I was a saints supporter I'd be spewing. Their effort was insipid. I remember when we were shit and just didn't have the talent. With the saints it's not so much lack of talent but lack of intensity.

I went to the game. Always easier to watch the setups and leads. Moore is struggling to lead in the right spot and even ran under the ball. I came away questioning if he's really a forward. If we are going to be hard nosed we should swap him for Townsend.

Kamdyn is gangly and awkward but he attacks the ball hard, has penetration in his kicks and the beauty of this team is everyone knows where to kick it to as opposed to who to kick it to. Not a vote winning game but I would not drop him either.

Some of the disposals by Dusty, Edwards, Prestia and Rioli were sublime. That left foot by Martin to Riewoldt (I think) was as good as you will see.
