I think it's more the picks we had rather than the draft. There was plenty of talent in the draft but our picks and situation really only leant itself to Jones + 1. If there was ever a draft to participate minimally in though, this one is probably it. Lots of unknowns. There is a reason so many SANFL/WA got picked up. They would have had way more focus on them this year.

Having said that, we may have moved on an extra player and tried to trade out a bit harder if there were particular things we liked in this draft that were within reach. I don't think there was much in our powers to participate more in this draft.

We did ok with our lot anyway while also improving our points position slightly for next year.

With Marshall, Georgiatis, Ladhams, Hayes, Dixon, I’d have thought Borlase would have been a reasonable defender selection with an aging Jonas and McKenzie as defenders.

Obviously we don’t rate or know he will come to us soon.

I would have thought a spot right under ports nose would be the best thing for them. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

That possibility is exactly why the SANFL sort to make it as difficult as possible for the AFL sides in getting top up players.

I'd say we don't rate him he was there to be taken if we did, I mean he's a cat b rookie over yonder it's not like they are overly excited by him either.

Why use up a main list spot if you don't have to and are able to push part of his pay packet out of the cap?

Sure but that's only available because no one rates him he'll probably never play a game like Edwards & Jarman.
