In order, can you saints fans rank the pecking order for med-small forwards?

It's going to be interesting to see the competition for spots & Schneider is no longer guaranteed a spot in the 22.

Milne
Schneider
Saad
TDL
Milera
Minchington

If fit Schneider will be Best 22. He plays more midfield when he is in the side anyway.

Milne : Still gets the runs on the board.
Saad : Kicked as many per game last year as Schneider ever has.
Schneider : Behind Saad due to lack of pace.
Milera : Has proven that he has ability.
TDL
Minch

Yeah tend to agree with this one, but I expect Milera to surpass Schneider this season.

I see Adam as pretty much exclusively wing for us next year, as I think we'll need him more there than in the forward line, although probably also rotating with Terry on the HFF. Depending on whether he plays down back or not, I'd also consider Siposs to be a "medium forward", when he's forward. With that being the case I'd say it's:

Milne
Saad
Siposs
Milera
TDL
Dunell
Minchington

Gilbert Gwilt Simpkin
Geary Fisher Dempster
Ray Dal Santo Dunell
Milera Riewoldt Stanley
Milne Wilkes Saad
R: McEvoy Hayes Armitage
I: Schnieder Siposs Steven Sub: Ledger/Newnes

Round 2: Joey to come in to replace Dunell.

Saad vs Schneider

Yes, Schneider's ageing and we've seen limited time from him over the last 12-15 months in general.

What seems to have been forgotten is his sense of where the ball is and who's waiting for him. An extremely smart user and with finesse, when fit. He has every opportunity to show where he's really at as far as I'm concerned. If considered depth, there's still a high chance he's going to get time regardless, whether it be through 'horses for courses' or being played as a 'defensive forward'. :p

I don't have Saad above Schneider yet. They're much on the same level at this stage, however Saad is a finisher, and Schneider is a playmaker. If both were available, it's everyone else getting scrutinised.

Alternating, highly skillful forward flanks with structural versatility. Yes please.

Its hard to say what the plans are. On the surface we seem to have too many small forwards.
Some sort of unusual rotation through the midfield consisting of up to four? There must be some reason we are accumulatiing so many.
I guess Milera, Schnieder, Dunnel, and TDL are most suited.

i think its best to split out the smalls from the mediums they play completely different roles

smalls:
milne
saad
schneider
minchington

you could throw other players in that role depending on injury as well. like a newnes, steven, montagna etc.

medium:
siposs (i think he will play down back this year)
milera (i think he will be played on the wing this year, offers a bit more flexibility than hyphen but less muscle)
hyphen (under-rated atm, saints fans will be surprised i think, will push for selection fairly quickly. round 1 debut very possible)
dunell
markworth (injured for 12 months)
murdoch

both hyphen and milera are between med/small could play both roles well. especially hyphen, he plays above his height. kind of like milne. he was well known for his marking and leading for subi. i suspect there might be a little bit of looking for a replacement in milnes marking ability in acquiring hyphen

We really need some midfield depth and class so some sort of a 3 or 4 way rotation between those 4 you mentioned would be ideal. You'd love the ball in any of those guys hands running out of the middle all very skilful and creative.

I think we'll see four small forwards in with one of them playing on a wing. I think Schneider is the only one who has proven he can play in the midfield so I'd put him there, and IMO Milera needs to be as close to goals as possible so I'd leave him at half forward. That leaves two more spots which obviously go to Milne and Saad. Unless the hyphen proves he can play on a wing he's fighting for that half forward spot with Milera and I've got Terry in front of him at this stage. Three talls rules out the possibility for another small or medium.

i'd love to see milera on the wing in a jetta type role. build on his confidence and he could be very very damaging

Did Jetta play on a wing or a HF? I thought he played more HF but I didn't see many Sydney games so I could be wrong. Either way I mentioned on the players board that I really think Milera could have a similiar type of impact on games that Jetta did. It's easy to forget how good Milera was in the first half of the season because he dropped off a bit before coming back in, but I think he's going to be an absolute gun this season.

Pretty sure that Jetta played on the wing. 99.9% sure.

Looking forward to seeing how Terry goes next year. Averaged 12.5 possessions and 1.3 goals per game this year, but we really need him to get that up to at least 16 or so possies per game for him to start to be really damaging, I reckon. Getting another preseason under the belt ought to help.

i'm pretty sure he turned into a full time wingman or at the very least a very high HFF. totally agree with you on last season.

he really is a player we need to push into the 22 and hold his spot and really stand up

Still not sold on Terry for some reason, he did show a bit in his first year of AFL but i think he struggled a bit with the pace of the game when he push up the ground. He got pinged holding the ball a few times across half back and turned it over with silly over the shoulder handballs, i think he'll have better awareness this year but those instances reminded me of Raph.
Also wasn't there a whisper his wife wanted to go back to Adelaide and he suggested to the saints if you can work out a trade i'll go? Don't know if i want to put 15 games into him this year and then he leaves like Cripps unless we can work out a trade for Boak that would be nice

There was somenone on here that that said that, but does anyone know if it was true?

I remember someone saying they seen it on SaintSational.. I find it bullshit tbh we were the club that gave him the chance as a mature aged player after many clubs over looked him in previous drafts. if he throws it back in our face then i don't know..

I almost fell off my chair when I read that. Would be very disappointing if he did that after we gave him the opportunity he thought might never come. I don't think he requested that though and I'm expecting a big year from him.

I don't reckon he will tbh.. But you never know i guess. Probably just a load of bullshit because he was drafted from Adelaide.
