Still completely shit house in back half ground ball. Oppo kicked about 10 goals from crumbs.

Still completely shithouse in front half ground ball. Possibly the worst brigade of small forwards ever fielded in an AFL game.

Dixon is an inanimate carbon rod and Marshall is Mr invisible. Finlayson came on the ground and immediately sulked.

Soldo got his pants pulled down. Felt like he was somehow worse than Lycetts efforts last year. Probably was injured.

I feel sorry for our midfield who are actually competitive given either side of the ground is so SANFL (or worse)
After playing half a game in five weeks, Soldo should not have been picked. Wher we need fit ruckman in the last qtr.

I though frank the tank actually played decently
Did some good things - but cannot carry both him and McEntee in the same forward line. Just simply not enough "danger" from a goalkicking perspective.

I do believe Evans is the better forward of the two, but i've also seen him struggle to run out games, which may be why McEntee gets in over him.

Spot on - got smashed in the last quarter (smashed all game, but went to another level as the game wore on)

Having no support for most of the match wore him down, Finlayson came on late but by then, Soldo was cooked.

Bad way to walk into a bye, gives the whole organisation something to think about.

On the positive the players get an extra 30 minutes holidays.

These two things are connected, sort of club that would get walked over in the last quarter of a gf because they knew they had a holiday coming up.

The defence is fine when they're well set up behind the ball and the forward line has locked the ball inside their attacking 50.

But when the ball enters Port's D50 quickly, the entire defence shits themselves every single time. There is zero composure, 100% panic.
I still cannot fathom how Lachie Jones does not understand that you need to play goal side of your opponent.

But time and time again he is caught out of position.

Agree. He's a fumbling buffoon and patience is wearing out with him, much the way that my patience with Miles Bergman's kicking is now paper thin.

The turnovers from Boak and Bergman last night, and then at least two from JHF, were horrendous. Then you had the senseless short kicks to stationary players in our backline (including the one late by BZT). Hopeless stuff. In the third quarter, we had about 7 clanger handballs through the centre-square, including from the likes of Houston and Butters. The sad part is, that wasn't the worst of our play. It was the meek surrender in the centre square and stoppage that was most damning. I thought Carlton was scoring too easily from centre square in the first three quarters (De Koning did it on his own a few times). In the last quarter, that became a massacre.

Getting back to playing goal-side, how poor was that play in the third term where McKay was unopposed in the goalsquare after a ball-up in their forward 50. If he hadn't fumbled to give Burton enough time to soccer the ball through, it would have been another easy score to them.

Our defending all over the ground (forward, midfield and back) was diabolical. Is that on Goldsack? The guy talks like a no-hoper in all interviews and is coaching like one.

Here's the thing I am not sticking up for anyone at the club just my opinion on the fragility in the mind of our team...I could be waaay off in my assessment.

I truly believe if Frankies poster was a goal we probably go on to win that game.

It's just the way we are and it baffles me small moments like that changes the complex of our team

Moonta should've won a flag last year, but this bloke got absolutely destroyed when it mattered most. He'll fit right in at Port...

Let’s say I didn’t watch a game and my only way to judge if we won or lost is by watching Hinkley’s reaction after the game.

I honestly couldn’t tell. He seems equally happy whatever the result

It’s genuinely bizarre. It’s like he’s a dad pushed into coaching the Under-8’s.

“GOOD TRY, KIDS! hyuk hyuk…

Did you see when Areola-Rubella went for that kick, missed it completely, and then tripped over the ball? Hyuk hyuk.

NOW WHO WANTS PIZZA?!”

I think a fair number of port players are fully aware that the slightest infraction in a contest will see them fined or suspended far in excess of any punishment opposition teams receive.

It's just like letting a goofy looking bloke like dekoning run all over you in ruck. He gets on top and gets a bit fancy, run your knee or body right through him at the next contest.

If a team is going to win against Port they are going to feel it and be very sore.

Point being it's time to start psychologically intimidating the opposition.

Is Boak the worst finisher in the AFL? Both in terms of kicking a goal and hitting a target i50.

Had about 3 opportunities to do something vaguely useful and every kick went about 20m away from the target.

Funny that the mind has gone but the body is fine. Just mentally ****ed.
I know he missed a pass to Marshall that went OOF - but his delivery is usually decent.

His goalkicking has always been pretty average, but this season has dropped to an all time low.

The issue is that it's all about momentum in sport - and he had a great opportunity (as well as one or two others) to really swing it our way. Missed a very gettable goal that may have spurred us onto more goals.

He's not alone, but it's something our team does far too often. Then Carlton in the 4th managed to string a few goals together and suddenly our team fell apart. We could have done that to them earlier if we strung some of those opportunities together.

Well done, Ginever.

LOL, Koch......."but look at the positives.......Georgiades started kicking goals........and Cripps just killed us in that third quarter".

One positive: MG.
Cripps killed us in the last quarter especially.
Yeah that ridiculous comment by koch re Cripps was just further proof if ever it was required the bloke is more interested in the sound of his own voice than he is in what he is actually saying.

We played OK and hoped we could will ourselves over the line in the final quarter but they decided to do that.
We definitely missed Dixon's contested marking.
We definitely missed Rozee and his skilful leg.
We definitely missed Rioli's magic around goals.

Butters and Houston were tagged.
They didn't give us the corridor all game and then used it turnovers to fast break scoring opportunities.
We could've been 4 to 5 goals at three quarter time.
We are just badly coached.
We had a fair whack of passengers because of injuries.

THE GOOD

Georgiades kicking 4
The Hornet playing well.
Butters trying hard but not getting as much space as usual.
Mead was reasonable enough.
Burgoyne's first quarter.
The tall backline wasn't that bad I thought.

THE MEDIOCRE

Burton was OK but he still has to go.
Bergman played OK
Boak and Wines were decent in the midfield.
Soldo was OK but TDK was very, very good.

THE UGLY

Being outcoached by Voss
Apart from Georgiades and a bit of Byrne-Jones, the forward line was cactus.
The midfield in the last quarter
The bombshell scares in the back line in the last quarter
Dixon doing nothing
McEntee and Evans not doing a lot. Possibly the worst small forward combination in the AFL.
Marshall needing an expresso before the game

But time and time again he is caught out of position.

This example was the worst of it.

I can't fathom his positioning here.

Literally 3 meters off his direct opponent leaving the goal face wide open. What exactly is he trying to do here?

Bonner has been the same Bonner he was with us. Sometimes good, sometimes crap. Has cost the Saints a few games with crucial mistakes.
Might be so but he's also top 3 in the AFL for effective kicks and what do we lack ATM? Yep, players that can kick. And what do we lack in our D50 ATM? Yep, players with pace that can run and kick. Jones - might be tough but cant kick and has zero pace. Burton - zero pace and kicked at 46% last night  this list goes on. I know who id rather have.

This is the reason why our defence has actually got worse despite targeted acquisitions. We got rid of our best pure defender.
Surely we lose nothing but improvement swapping Trent with Burton?

Watching the replay of the last, our biggest issue was our players lacking accountability. We simply didn’t defend goal side for the whole last quarter, with the deathnell being the first 10 minutes.

The last 10 slightly forgivable as we’re chasing the game.

I wouldn’t pin that all on the back 6 but the whole bloody team. I don’t think our back 6 is horrendous as some are saying. It needs some structural changes in strategy.

Looks like we really missed Rozee, Rioli and SPP.

Whilst not a massive Dixon fan surely he’s cooked now. Rested and came back looking old. Either Ruck or nothing IMO, it’s his only useful position. Soldo looked gas in the last like it was his first game back. With hindsight, perhaps he should have been benched, Charlie into ruck and Finny FWD. The Evans touched post in the last was a heart breaking momentum killer too.

Anyway, it was shit, I was surrounded by Carlton supporters who were happy, whilst awful I’m not writing of us making finals

Pathetic, walked into the press conference grinning from ear to ear. I don't mind a bit of a laugh with a colleague a bit later, but this is immediately after the final siren. Looks like there's no hurt there. Losing should not be accepted like this.
And it is damm right disrespectful to all Port supporters who put in their hard earnt into, the club, their time and effort too attend and not to mention the disappointment of losing. And then we have this buffoon laughing when we lose. The guy is an absolute self centred tool.
