I never understand why Carlton supporters whinge about that,

Look at this:

P:215 W:162 D:2 L:51

That is your win-loss record against us.

That's a shellacking if ever I saw one. I'm sorry about 2002-2009 but really?! A little perspective please!

Perspective? Those are stats taken over a 100+ year period. I mean, Collingwood won four premierships in a row between 1927 and 1930 - guess how much sleep I lose over that at night? :D

So, if we look at the recent history (the history that is most tangible), say the last 20 years:

1995-2015: StKilda = 18 wins, Carlton = 12 wins.

Average winning margin by StKilda = 7 goals.

The above period includes StKilda's streak of 4 wins from 2003-2006 that produced an average winning margin of 93 points.

You mentioned 2002-2009. Carlton did not win a single game against StKilda in that period, for those who don't know.

And the above doesn't go into the extremely annoying stuff that stats don't show but which can't be ignored, like StKilda's miraculous turnarounds in form specifically when facing us (like there's some ****ing vendetta against us), as well as the all-too-often acts of bastardry like B.Goddard picking on an injured player heading for the bench who just happens to be 20cm shorter and weigh 25kg less...

Anyway.....hoping it's a well-attended and hard-fought game on Sunday.

Don't forget that arseh*le Milne been himself.

Montagna going out of his way to hit Curnow when he was walking off with a broken shoulder.

Definitely- very healthy signs for the club that there is some competition and the players have to work their butt off to get into the seniors

Yeah how great is it & exciting is it Ghenghis? Feels so refreshing to see when you can feel the excitement & the players just killing themselves in every single contest;).

For StKilda you're a decent coach if you can get the team to finish anywhere above 18th...

Unless you're Kenny Sheldon...In that case you make them a half decent side for the first time in forever and still get shafted

Fair enough.

It's just that as this is bigfooty I would have thought like everyone else you consider the first fifty-sixty year period of the competition.

Otherwise, I guess by the above logic your team has won four wooden spoons to our two in history and one premiership to none.

I can live with that.

;)

If we want to challenge for Finals, we have to go out and belt the injury ravaged saints to boost our percentage up.

NOt sure about finals, but Bolton wants to build a culture of success - bottoming out and tanking is the opposite of that. With that said, we should beat the saints this time around.

All I can say is that it feels great to be able to enjoy the football again after the crap served up in the last couple of years under Malthouse. At my most pessimistic last year, before he was given the flick, I commented to a Blues supporting mate that the club is broken and I didn't think I would see another premiership in my lifetime. Far more optimistic now :)

:clapping: well said... exactly how I feel. love the fact that whoever we are playing, wherever we are playing them, we'll bring a contest. Got so sick to death of rolling over last year..... and the years before that.

Agreed, 1st year aside it was pretty nerve racking.

2013 had some rage inducing games though. When we kicked 9.22 v Essendon :drunk:

Feel like our losses are easier to handle this year since you can clearly see what the players are trying to do out there as well.

Plus no media side show after the game.

Rowe looks much better with Weitering by his side. Rowe knows he only has to punch the ball and the Blues can mop it up. As long as Rowe doesn't have to mark or kick it, it is always a plus

I broke my hand hitting the coffee table watching the Brisbane game in 2014 at the GABBA, even remember it was when Yarran wasn't paid the free in the their goal square and Josh Green kicked the winning goal.

I felt anxious watching MM's Carlton more often then not.

Even when we won it was far from a enjoyable viewing experience.

True.

Funny thing is I wasn't all that worried if we lost on Saturday. Obviously I wanted to win but I'm starting to feel confident that even if we lose it's likely that it's not because we didn't have a go.

What, like ensuring that we made no mistake that whoever we were playing were a very very good football side?

I was always wondering when we were going to become a very very good football side ...

Gorringe has improved each senior game played, looks to be getting the 'feel' for this level.
Graham needs a couple of games in a row before he starts to dominate.

Gorringe could be a real threat this weekend with the lack of size in St.Kilda's defence.
