The other thing with Fort.. We had Joe back from a shoulder and Dizzy back from injury last week.
I do not mind throwing player back and forward like McStay did tonight. Fagan talks about it a bit
Although if players having a bad night or things not working swapping them around can help.
A lot of teams do that.
Tigers doing it at the moment with Balta and Glibcus. Saints threw Membrey back..

Oscar did a few nice marks around the ground.
Bit of a weird game mates texting me umps why they getting sick of AFL.
Wonder if they get paid per whistle they blew.

Some positives.

McInerny was good and started to take some marks. Against strong opposition.

McStay showed some real value when switched down back . He can play there if needed. Not a bad idea at times. Gardiner was going a lot better tonight ,a shame he copped another one.

Rayner continues to look the goods more often than not.

Coleman could be a younger ,injury free Josh Drummond because when he gets the ball his decision making is elite for someone who's only played a handful of games. He also gave a lot of support to Adams and Andrews by backing back into the contest and getting a hand in.
I liked McStays effort down back. His ball use compared to our other big defenders is much, much better.

We have averaged a goal from
20% of our forward entries all season, last night that dropped to 16% and we are still #1 in the comp for goal accuracy so that kicking effort was statistically an aberration.
This is part of the problem though. Our complete panic and lack of composure going forward in those sort of games is an ongoing thing. The amount of times we should have scored and didn’t became comical, time after time, after time.

The rumours re Neale wanting to go back to WA and Freo starting up again. Brad Hardie on the footy show on 3AW Melbourne after game reporting this. Jules homesick with young baby etc. Guess being back in Freo last week meant it was likely to start up again.

The umpiring in the 1st half was absolutely diabolical. They kicked 4.1 of their first half score directly from terrible umpiring decisions. G.

I left at this point and went home. Wasn’t hanging around for that rubbish. Umpires are destroying the game, getting to the point where I won’t part with hard earned money to watch umpires do what they do.

I'm not totally on the Dev Robertson bandwagon but one think I love is that he's very competitive and never gives up in a contest. I think we could do worse than get he and Tommy Berry into our midfield mix and give them a few games. I doubt we'll win a GF with our present line up.
I watched the game on TV, and it looked like Dev was being as a defensive small forward or on the wing for most of the first half.

It didn’t look like he was played in the midfield until lat in the game.

Berry Rayner Neale Coleman and Andrews for me.

Maybe King had an off night, but for Andrews to come in (especially after thant first few minutes) take him out of the game like he did was super good. Hopefully this is him building on to a good end to the season.

Both teams were miskicking like crazy, but we also had some horrible set shots and field kicks which really made us sweat that to win.

Hopefully all our injuries are alright. Good comeback game for Joe. Hippy is still finding his feet (or his hands should i say... come on!)
I thought Andrews was good, but if King kicked a couple that were very kickable, then we are talking about him kicking 4 or 5 goals. Thought Cam played well. I am not sure on Lyons cannot kick more than 40m and I think missed 3 shots on goal.

Games gone past Robbo lost a fair bit of leg speed . And seriously what’s the go with Lyons . Absolute custard leg. I’ve seen aus kick kids kick the ball further then him . Pretty sure we offered him a significant contract extension maybe 3 years so he is gonna be absolutely plodding round the ground in that time.

That was miles better. And a well deserved win. We were poor at times with our ball use but in terms of effort, being switched on and having a bit of pride in their defensive work it was a step in the right direction. We wanted it more this week and it made the difference.

Chris Fagan has built a really consistent team, another second week of finals exit on the horizon. If you can’t beat us and you struggle to beat St Kilda with no one on the bench then I wish you the best of luck.
Hawks played well yesterday and I like what Mitchell is doing with the team post Clarko...have a nice day!

Career Best for Kiddy.
Lyons score indicative, but a bit harsh for the last quarter.

Some may go home at qtr time in 3 weeks time when we play Western Bullpires.

Why is that unfortunate?
Last night showed Robbo is seriously cooked.
Unfortunate for him, I guess you mean.
Yes will be sad to see Robbos demise after his fine inspirational contribution to our club. Premature to predict his demotion but obviously, on recent form, only a shadow of his former self.
