Scott in his presser seemed to imply Wright and Weideman would play together. Could mean Phillips is the one to miss and we go with the one ruck.
I’ve always believed that this is Brad’s preferred structure except I never knew who was higher in the pecking order between Jones and Weed?
The 2 ruck situation came about to compensate for 2mp imo.
If they play 2mp and Weed with both rucks I will find that intriguing.

Carlton aren't that tall behind the ball.
Good call that wright and weid plus one ruck will be how we go
Plus their rucks will be TDK and Jsos
Lang-ruck might make a return :p

I wouldn’t be that surprised either if they did play 2 rucks for this game either. I just think at the start of the year Brad would have not contemplated the idea before 2mp went down.
I think Drapes plays better with people who have other strengths than what he possesses which compliments his game. Flip earlier in the year was playing that strong contested marking role that Drapes does not do but Flip couldn’t keep the candle alight.
Maybe two key forwards and two rucks will lessen the expectation on Flip and give him some freedom? Personally I would like to see Flip face off against his old team. I think it’s his last roll of the dice for him. If this game next week doesn’t get the best out of him I don’t know which one would.

Early prediction:

Out: Weideman
In: Wright
I can't imagine us playing Phillips (or Bryan) in same team as 2MP (with Draper as no. 1 ruck). Whenever they decide 2MP is ready, Flipper is goneski. Weid will do most back up ruck whilst 2MP gets some miles into the legs up forward. Might be better for Weid too.

So what do you think of um.. Bryan’s future? Is it with us?

I like Bryan. He is still very young - only 21. I would have played him probably last 4 matches. Flipper has really fallen away. No idea why Phillips played ahead of Bryan against Kangas. There isn't much between Phillips and Bryan so give it to the young guy. Wasted opportunities to not play Bryan ahead of 2MP's return.

I agree but the fact is they didn’t play Bryan and he probably got unfairly subbed off last week. I’m just wondering what they are thinking especially with Flip looking so long in the tooth.

In terms of the Ruck/Key forward role I think you can only really afford to play 3 talls at most before you start losing too much forward pressure.

Especially with Stringer as the 4th low pressure forward and Langford being in the mix as well as someone who could do more at that aspect.

Bryan or a 4th tall would have to replace one of them.

I’d assume the structure stays the same. Wright comes in for Flip and Weed takes a more mobile role. Might get him in the game more and hopefully helps his confidence.

in general competition for spots seems fierce across every position which is a nice problem to have.

So Weid I’d assume take up some more ruck duties over Pete to compensate for the one ruck?

One thing is for sure, if we don't muscle up around the ball we are gonna get beat.

If Norfs pediatric midfield can give us the ring around in the clearances like they did yesterday, Carlton are going to eat us alive. It's literally all they got at the moment.
Who was in the two midfields yesterday and how old were they?

I know Merrett and Stringer would bring the average age up a bit and Shiel played 3/4.

But if Hobbs, Caldwell and Perkins are going head to head with North’s kids at times then that’s probably a bit interesting in it’s own right…

just a massive game. not just because its carlton but also gives as an opprtunity to cement ourselves in the top 8 before the bye.

This is a must win and we need to come ready to play.

We show up with the same intent as we did against North and we lose, convincingly.

Weid back up ruck

nah weed needs a spell - he was utterly shocking aginst north.

Peter wright straight swap in and keep draper and flip.
