Shiel wasn't injured guys...
Has a cortisone injection to play. Admitted on 9 news he should not have tried to get up for the dream time game and should have targeted Sundays game or the Carlton game.

9 news - Shiel unlikely to play. And realistically shouldn’t have played against North.
Some terrible management here, not great by the club.

Whoever had the final say needs to give us some information why they made the decision.

I like Bryan. He is still very young - only 21. I would have played him probably last 4 matches. Flipper has really fallen away. No idea why Phillips played ahead of Bryan against Kangas. There isn't much between Phillips and Bryan so give it to the young guy. Wasted opportunities to not play Bryan ahead of 2MP's return.
Whilst I mostly agree and i think I even posted the same ahead of Ess vs North team selection, in hindsight we probably would've lost the North game if we chose Bryan > Flip. Flip gives something on a loose ball contest, Bryan hasn't got that hard edge. I think Flip did a number on Goldstein last year didn't he? So maybe that played in the back of the coaches' minds.

Fun fact
last 20 games @ Docklands - 14 wins, 6 losses
last 20 games @ MCG - 6 wins, 14 losses

Need to improve that record at the 'G

One thing I noticed during the Carl vs Melb game was how poor Carlton's mids were at competing aerially. That might encourage Scott to continue with the direct long kicking which I thought wasn't the best strategy vs North.

This might actually be it.

Move Perkins into the full midfield rotation (Zerrett, Hobbs, Caldwell, Perkins) and let Wanganeen take his spot in the forwardline

That or D'Ambrosio goes to a HFF and Tex is the sub
Shiel played mostly wing, esp first half

N.Cox to the wing would be an option to replace him

Wanganeen in to a wing, or to half fwd with Perkins upto a wing as a replacement also an option.

Massimo from a sub is also an option straight to a wing, or similar could go half fwd with Perkins to a wing

Cox also gives us an option for a bit of height down back if curnow/harry are getting on top of Zerk.

For a BIG game like this one we probably keep it simple and move Shiel out and bring Tippa in who has runs on the board with his experience.

I want to see an explosive performance from a Tex or ADJ but Tippa has big game experience and this one will be HUGE so we don’t be silly.

If Wright is fit enough to play we go him in lieu of Phillips and play Weid as second ruck.

B. Heppel - Zerk Thatcher - McGrath

Hb. Redman - Laverne - Ridley

C. Durham - Merrett - Martin

Hf. Snelling - Stringer - Guelfi

F. Menzies - Wright - Langford

R. Draper - Hobbs - Caldwell

I/c. Hind - Perkins - Tippa - Weid (Tippa/Mass)

Well McClure has certainly added fuel to the fire for the Carlton game this week.

Reckons Voss is coaching for his job at this stage and the playing group is fractured.

Hopefully we’re switched on. Backs to the wall games are pretty emotive.

Im probably not playing Zerk on any of them and if so only on Harry

Ridley - Charlie
Lav - Harry (To Start)

I expect Silvagni to play so prefer Zerk to take him

but yeh Cox may be the best option for a wing to replace Shiel, and you never know what he could do down back id needed

A lot of games at the G against Pies and Tigers which won't have helped that record.
