Effort can't be faulted.

Forward pressure and transition has been an issue all year and still yet to be addressed.

Yeo immense.

Brockman and Ryan with very good games.

Allen shaking off the cobwebs.

Waterman continues his good form.

Barrass with a good game, McGovern not bad but floated a bit in and out.

Disappointing but not rage inducing.

Poor conversion costing us again.

Negatives
  • Such a big gap between our best and worst.
  • The ease of which Essendon could handball and kicked through our defence.
  • Goal kicking accuracy.
  • Tackling ability.
  • Field kicking ability.
  • Pretty disappointed with Flynn against Draper, who’s back from a lengthy injury.
  • Rotham & B.Williams both very average.
  • Cole & Hunt didn’t get too involved, perhaps shut down roles.

Positives
  • Barrass.
  • More inside 50’s
  • Equal shots on goal
  • Welcome back Oscar. Hopefully shakes the rust off and we get four quarters next week.
  • Brockman, hopefully he continues to grow. Impressive signs today.
  • Yeo was huge as the solo senior mid and heavily tagged the entire game.
  • Reid and TK (hopefully) back next week.

Our best performance since the Demons win. Can’t help but feel like with better goalkicking we might’ve stolen that.

Add Kelly and Reid back into the mix and we’ll be alright.

Big positives for Ryan in the middle, a genuine option now that we should use.

Oscar Allen's second half showed he's still got what it takes to be an elite forward, very rusty before that.

Won the inside 50s, played a much more direct movement style, big ticks today for how we want to play even if we didn't always execute.

Biggest negative the obvious pre game issue that forward line pressure would see us cut up in defensive transition and that's exactly what happened. Poor match selection from that aspect.

Positives:
  • Ryan in the midfield
  • Brockman in the midfield
  • Maric's wing experiment
  • we didn't give up
  • Harley back next week

Negatives:
  • too easy for Essendoom to score off halfback
  • goal-front accuracy
  • 30 points didn't reflect the closeness of the match.
  • forward line too cluttered & top-heavy

Meh, probably better than expected, considering our recent away from and Essendon love to flat track.

Obviously we went in too tall but from Simmo's comments pre-game, they wanted to try it and see if it would work. Likely Williams is dropped next week, I imagine.

Good to see the centre combination mixed up. Hopefully this sees an end to Sheed at CBDs for good(if selected).

Reid and Kelly to come back in makes the midfield a lot more potent.

Flynn/Williams combo isn't working.

Get Jilliams in as an actual forward, with forward craft to do the occasional chop outs for Flynn.

If Flynn can't ruck 75% of a game at this point, he can regain fitness in the WAFL and Bailey can do the lot on his own.

The bombers were too good on transition from defense- a good system in place. We don't have that, as it's nearly always to the same side, right. Our tackling is still poor - we don't tackle with intent. So fumbly a lot of the time, there was one passage where it was just one fumble after another, 3rd quarter, I think.
Not impressed with the performance today; and that last goal did me in. Basic stuff, guard behind the pack, goalside, but there was no one there. Big BW is not up to it, had his pants pulled down again, and shows no forward craft. I would much prefer Jack Williams in that role.
Petch and Ryan at the CB - I like it. We need their pace in there. Oscar will be better after the run - strangely, he was off target today. Love Snake.
Yeo put in a herculean effort.
Oh well, we get Harley back next week, and hopefully Kelly. They were badly missed.

Emotions aside, that was our best away performance of the year.

Positives
  • ryan is what we need in the middle
  • another solid game from chesser and ginbey
  • despite looking really rusty, allen played pretty well in the end
  • snake still competing, working hard up the ground and getting snags
  • yeo the bull
- gov and barass down back (barring typical brain fades)
  • the guys cracked in, we never gave up.
  • HARLEY is BACK Sluts

Negatives
  • the flynn/williams ruck combination is woeful. Drop either or both to the wafl.
  • we were on the back foot as soon as the teams were announced. Its like we are trying to cram 10 talls in a 6 tall forward line...its completely munted.
  • if he didn't run fast in straight lines, petch would have been delisted 5 years ago. He isnt an AFL footballers arseh*le.
  • will be happy to see rotham delisted at years end.

- Jones too soft.Does some great things then goes and squibs. Twice!!!
-Flynn let Dursma run through unimpeded. Chance to make a statement but chose not to take it!
-Hunt is not in my 22.Absolute soft **** in tackles!
-Ginbey needs to work on his close in touch. Almost gets a clean touch but ..doesn’t. Will improve.
Duggan played well but geez for a senior player he makes hasty decisions. Seems incapable of lowering his eyes and looking to the side.
In the first half Yo was getting towelled up. Why wasn’t he sent to tag.Or half back.Poor coaching !
Chesser needs to be more aggressive at the contest. Also needs to look!Look!!! Not bomb!!
OA rusty but 5/6 shots .Gun.
Waterman needs a new gut. He’s busted his.
Ryan into the middle and TK to the forward line.TK loves a goal and Ryan is much better by foot.
Would have won if Reid played!
Good effort today.
Let’s see if we can bring the same effort next week or just put the effort away and leave it to Reid !

Better effort than expected. Surprised to see hitouts and centre clearances were even but a good effort considering we were missing Reid and Kelly.

I'm not sure what some people are expecting from Flynn. He couldn't get a game with GWS and he's a better ruck than Williams. He's doing his job.

Speaking of Williams, I think we should fail fast on this one and let him develop his forward craft in the WAFL. As much as the naysayers say we're too tall up forward, I would bring Jack Williams back in because Allen / Darling / Waterman aren't going to ruck. Alternatively, bring Jamo back for Rotham.

Tackling was horrible today. Certainly not to AFL standard.

Some questionable decision making and execution were costly as well.

Not surprised to see we were smashed in uncontested possessions and uncontested marks. Essendon are an excellent spreading side and we're not. It's an area we need to be better in but also an area we are deficient in list wise.

Allen worked into the game nicely. I still would have brought him back through the WAFL personally but that is behind us now.

Maric on the wing and Ryan / Brockman on ball looked good today.

Overall, while I thought Essendon were better than us today, the scoreboard flatters them. 19.8 is above average conversion and not at all reflective of the game. An 18 point margin sounds about right (see below)

I know it’s not all about disposals but they had 11 players over 20 and we had 2 players with 20, this happens week in week out

Seems to be the way we've played all year to date in regards to low disposal count. Must be something coz we're not winning.

bit of a nothing game.

never in it never out of it

NAB Cup style result

Meh

On SM-S908E using BigFooty.com mobile app

That is literally the most perfect way to sum it up, bit of numb feeling not pissed off but also we are so far away from being anything near a decent football team it’s not funny
