Outs: Ginnivan (inj), Dear (inj), Sicily (inj), Gunston (rested)
Ins: Breust, Lewis, Serong, Maginness

B: Serong Frost Weddle
HB: Impey Scrim Amon
C: Jiath Nash D’Ambrosio
HF: Moore Chol MacDonald
F: Watson Lewis Hardwick
Fol: Meek Newcombe Day

Sub: Breust

*Maginness to play a defensive forward role on Stewart
*Geelong one of the teams where I think Meek/Nash works really well as only rucks
*Morrison back, Hardwick forward
*Please be OK Sicily :( He's one of the few players whose impact we struggle to cover

Stewart will play in the midfield.

If Ginnivan misses, Breust comes back in. That works.

If we're looking for an additional player in the forward line I'd be a watch on Bennetts. Outside of last week in the VFL he has been very solid all year, averaging around 20 disposals, 5 marks and a goal a game.

I don't think we rush in Wingard with limited fitness, but if we think he can play we might.

Stewart will play in the midfield.

I know he played some midfield minutes last week but seems a a risky move given they are rucking SDK, and we should have quality tall timber in Lewis and Chol.

Helps them if Dear (who likely would have made way anyway) and Gunners are unavailable to exploit.

Maginness usually starts on the HFF and tags at stoppage anyway.

Big outs if names above all miss. But Lewis, Breust and Chad would all be great ins. Hence the importance of retaining depth on our list next year with the likes of Wingard, Breust, Gunston and Morrison

This is a game i penciled in as a loss when finals were first a possibility, so a win here would be a massive bonus. Hawks by 13

I love Hardwick as a forward, but unless Mitchell comes in he’ll stay back. Can’t lose sis and him with only Serong to cover.

Geelong’s small/medium forwards are what wins them games.

The cumulative scoreline of all Hawthorn v Geelong games between 2013-2015 (8 games) was
Hawthorn 113.111 to Geelong 95.93

Geelong scored more goals than behinds in just 3 games and lost all of them.

Of the 3 games Hawthorn lost to Geelong in that time, both teams had similar sub-50% accuracy but Geelong had more scoring shots.

That seems surprising.
I guess the trauma of the shooting the lights out on a couple of games has overshadowed the memory of the other one
