Josh Daicos and WHE had very good games

I remember thinking years ago after seeing the success Bartell had moving to defence in his last few years at Geelong, that Pendles should move to the backline near the end of his career. It's been especially good having having his smarts and steadiness down back in Roughie's absence.

Steele has always had good goal smarts, so a move to the forward line so far looks to have revitalized his career after such a sharp decline last year. I was calling for this last year.

Also looks like Jordy, and apparently Maynard, are midfielders now, which I've campaigned a few times for the last few years.

It can make such a huge difference shuffling the deck chairs around a bit. Dunno why people have been so deadset against changes like this in the past.

I normally don't like to say "told ya so", but I'd been suggesting these changes for a few years now on the board and always got dismissed. Doesn't really matter though. Just happy to see these changes, and so far they seem to be working pretty well. There's always been plenty of examples of this working for other teams which is why I was keen to see us try changing things around a bit.

I really wish people would stop crapping on about salary packages after every single match review.

News alert. It is what it is. And it doesn’t change midseason.
News Flash , if he had any semblance of integrity, he would say to the club ,” let’s sit down and re-negotiate why contract , my output and effectiveness does not warrant it “ . but we know that ain’t gonna happen , as he is full of himself

Henry will be a star. He could have kicked 4 today, and with the way he build confidence with his hands, I truly believe we have a Gunston quality player here.

Think people are harsh on Brown. Don't think his game was that bad, rather they were looking for faults. He brings really good pressure. He didn't have a big impact but some people would have it he was spudding it up every time he went near.

Gini and Mcreery are legends. There seems to be some real buzz in the forward line in the way they get around each other and celebrate goals.

It’s a nice start to the season, winning the first two
These are the games we have to win to move up the ladder, and realistically they are the teams that are around the mark.
The game style is great, we have around a top eight defence, but our improvement has to come from our mids and forwards which so far so good.
Big test next week but l think they will be up to the challenge

I’m not a Keays fan. Bit like Aaron Hall at the Roos. Players who more often than not dole out equal measures (or worse) of good and face-palm moments.
Keays works his arse off for them every week. He's a limited kick, but he is a benchmark for work rate and getting the pill. I think it's pretty disrespectful to be caning him as some are around here. He ran past a couple of our blokes more than once today to set up goals. 37 touches, 9 Marks and 28 Supercoach points clear of every other player on the ground. Finished 2nd in their B&F last season, only 3 votes behind Rory Laird who had a very good season.

But in general, the Crows had a lot of the pill without inflicting too much damage.

Pros
Once again I was pleased with our contribution right across the ground.
Defence was solid, new centre clearance team is stronger and more dynamic than last season and hitting 100 points with 12 goal kickers is fantastic considering we don't have the dominant talls of a few other clubs.
Tackling pressure has been really good and is causing opposition errors and scoring opportunities.
Really pleased with some of our lesser lights - McCreery, Ginnivan, Noble to name some.
What a breath of fresh air Fly and his coaching panel have been. Selection has been much better than previous seasons. Helps when most of your list is available, but Josh back on a wing, Crisp/DeGoey in the midfield for much of the game as running clearance types, Pendles/Daicos as distributors off half back and no abundance of mids playing up forward like Macrae/Rantall etc - McCreery/Ginnivan/Henry who understand the craft instead.

Cons
How we signed Grundy on $900k for so many seasons is hard to fathom. His tapwork and body positioning in the ruck needs so much improvement. He needs to dominate in order to justify that pay packet. He is largely breaking even with opponents so far this season.
Tyler Brown the most obvious to cede his spot next week. He was poor again. I'd rather see Fin Macrae as a contested mid role given we appear happy to play Reef up forward in the 2's for now.
Not sure what a subluxation of the shoulder means for Kreuger's time unavailable. He missed most of training pre-Christmas, concussion in the Giants game and now this latest injury. Is he the next Ben Reid?!
Henry looks capable, but also looks like a rabbit in the headlights much of the time with his fumbling. His set shot kicking is also pretty poor. But when he finds his confidence, he'll be damaging enough with a good set of hands, an ability to find himself in good positions and some tricks.

Name one player that has ever done that, at this stage of their career.
Full of it, mmmmmm l don’t think so

You think the 20 last year playing on the inside are a better indicator than the 240 before it - mainly on the outside?

If you're talking games not everybody goes out on top it comes to a end quickly

2 games don't make a refresh as I said he'll crash

Can you name one player in the AFL. Who like Grundy was considered the best player in the game at time of signing, that has done this?

You are dead set kidding yourself.

If fact I’m tipping any gun player doing this would be bagged by the media for effectively waving the white flag on producing elite performance.

Because the 2 Years Before he was 1 of the best players in the AFL

You answered this yourself , with one hand he put it out for the mega bucks , the other hand he waved the white flag when bubble boy said he was not coping with covid life .

We win comfortably and you guys are talking about Grundy 🤦

Never change bigfooty

As I say he is our Number 1 Whipping Boy because he is called a Dud about everyone these Days and Even when we Flog a Team

Very impressive to back up a strong performance after a good win last week.

The experienced heads in Pendles, Crisp and Sidebottom were all terrific. We have one eye on the future obviously, but it can't be understated how important it is to have players like this leading the next generation of players and setting high standards of what is required.

Among the young players, McCreery and Ginnivan looked great. Really impressed with McCreery's work rate. Saw him running non-stop even if he wasn't getting the ball and he's an elite tackler already. Henry is still fumbly, but his talent is undeniable, which he capped off with a fantastic goal in the 3rd.

The game plan under McRae and his assistants has been a revelation. It's fast, direct and clinical when it comes off beautifully. That's been the most enjoyable aspect of watching the team so far this year.

Fire alarm situation was unique. Not everyday that happens :laughv1:

Life is good. 2-0 and currently on top for a few hours at least :)

Dave it’s irrelevant how you win games early in the season

I have been to both games and both wins have been good “team” performances…….every one doing their part.

See you at the VFL tomorrow?

Yeah I be at the VFL Tommorow

Fly's presser:

First time the club is 2-0 in nine years. What does that mean to you?

What impressed you most about the performance today?

Any word on the severity of Nathan Kreuger's injury?

How did you rate Kreuger's performance?

Will Mason Cox be potentially ready for next week's match or is it too early to tell?

We don't often see key forwards like Darcy Cameron being the sub. What was the thinking behind it?

Jack Ginnivan's response was pretty impressive after some criticism he received earlier this week?

The Crows came into the game with a high-possession style of play. What sort of message do you give to the players to deal with that?

The first two wins were against sides who didn't play finals last year. Next week is a big challenge against Geelong who are a genuine contender?

What was the reaction in the box when the sirens went off?

Did Taylor Adams have a migraine?

Darcy Moore has great composure down back?

Do you hope a deal with Darcy [Moore] is done soon?

Your impressions on Jordan De Goey, particularly in the third quarter?

Thanks for doing this, much appreciated.
