Wow... Not totally unexpected. But I guess this means Reid is preferred to Nathan Brown. Which is interesting... Also really wanted Beamsy in this week...

I hope a late April Fools joke.

Fine if Presti is out, but is Goldsack still ill? And Beams - still Johnson and O'Bree preferred over him. Do they randomly draw numbers out of a hat? Reid and Johnson and Fraser are terrible players, and Beams and Goldsack are not, yet they are on the bench.

Unbelievable.

Johnson and Fraser were good last week and we had 22 contributers in a win against a top side. Unfortunately for Goldy, Beams, McCarthy, Brown, Caffer and Dawes we cannot pick 28 players, but the competition for spots is good for the team.
Im sure Goldy, Beams and the like will get an opportunity this year but they now know they have to win a spot back in the team and when they do they will need to play well to stay in.

Reid in is excellent news. Hope he can earn a spot for next week and we might see him against Stanley and possibly a crack at Reiwoldt.

Not great seeing the mighty presti out.

He needs to be rested at times this year, no big surprise. He looked absolutely stuffed during the finals last year, hopefully he'll be in and out and kept fighting fresh for them this year.

I really do think this is why Reid is in and not Nathan Brown.

We have never had anyone who can go with Riewoldt, and if Reid shows some form this week, you would have to consider giving him "first crack" at Roo next week.

Nathan Brown had 6 goals kicked on him by 3 opponents in the NAB Cup game, so he wouldn't be considered for next weeks game, but hopefully he can find some form in the VFL and get into the side later in the year.

I hope Reid does play this week, perfect opportunity for him to gain some confidence at AFL level, against one of only 2 teams that you simply will not lose to.

Good change, it's a long season and we need Presti to get through it. Newton won't be a hard match up for Reid anyway.

As ohters have said, guys like Beams will get their chances soon enough.

Presti out injured scares the heck out of me. It's not and issue for this week because we should still win if we turn up to play and I am happy enough about Reid getting a game. What concerns me is Presti's history of slow recovery. Presti takes a long time to get over injuries and needs games to run into his best form. It is important he doesn't re-injure himself now.

Consider this. On the week 1 Black and White show players were asked who was the most improved player, 2 names came up.

Harry O and Ben Reid.

Ominous.

Would've liked to see Fraser out too just to help him towards the end of the season, but I'm glad we're rotating Presti and managing him. This way come finals time, the seniors should still be relatively fresh, and we've got the squad size to be able to rotate, so why not.

I don't think Fraser can be "rested" until Wood is fit.

Even against Melbourne we need a second ruckman, Leigh Brown would be killed in the ruck, especially against Jamar.

I'd like to see Fraser rested too also, he hasn't lasted a whole season for a while now.

Good change. I'm all for seeing what Reid can bring, and I'm also all for taking care of Presti, we are going to need him up and about since we have such a tough fixture.
