So with the annihilation of the Derby confirmed my changes are:
Outs and Ins
Ryan>Petrucelle
Cripps>Hewett (full game)
Gov>HEdwards(if fit) or Rotham
Chesser> Clark
Shuey>Yeo (if fit) or Culley
Witherden> Hough
LEdwards in as sub.
All the kids play the youth.
Bingo. Love it
I would normally say send Yeo via WAFL but we need his big body this week

Made good progress and don't need the youngster belted by 15 goals

Had our derby injury list been limited to 5 players I'd like to think we still could have found a way to drop Gaff, but that's now probably a bridge too far for round 4. FML.

Well we might still get belted by 10 goals but at least we have another senior player to switch between midfield and half back. It's all about the contest this week and every week Culley, Yep and Clark give us a bit of on ball muscle.

Liam Ryan now out for the long haul too.
Also booked in for Hamstring Tendon surgery.

Disaster, small fwds depth has taken a big hit in recent yrs.
Venables Early Concussion retirement
Cripps injury prone now and 31 yrs old
Rioli on the Bongs and off to Port.
Ryan now ripped hammy tendons. This will hamper his Leaping style of game. Always going to grimace every time he springs up.
Petch has not come a long. Lets pray he rips it up now.

Outs > Ins
Gov - Bazzo
Cripps - Petch
Shuey - Yeo
Witherden - Culley
Chesser - Winder

Lets go a small defence, have many players who can cover half back in this team. Gaff & Sheed can cover. More runners over the ground.
Backing Ryan & SPS to be ok later in the week.

Cole Barrass Hunt
Duggan Bazzo Ginbey
Jones Yeo SPS
Hewett Darling Petch
Long Allen Waterman

Williams Culley Kelly

Winder, Sheed, Gaff, Hurn

Sub Clark

All irrelevant, with the incoming event on Planet Earth. This Round will be the biggest in history and to be honest it has come at the perfect time. What is going to happen is players that are interstate will return home. Trust in what i am saying. The Eagles should have many WA boys next week. Every contract will be null & void. No player will be out of reach. Again it is the perfect time. The Team next week will be vastly different.

IN : Rotham, Culley, Yeo, Clark, L.Edwards, Hough, West
OUT : McGovern, Shuey, Cripps, Ryan, Chesser, Witherden, Petrevski-Seton

Didn’t Rotham sign with Adelaide?

Didn’t we draft a ruckman and Florenca over Culley?

BUCKLE YOUR CHINSTRAPS

Reality is the call needs to be made now going on past history that we can’t move forward with players that have continually broken down. Boots bleeds for the club but I think it’s fair to say the modern game requires speed and his body just can’t provide that anymore with a large risk of a soft tissue injury. Nic has bad knees and now a dodgy Achilles apparently. He’s such a loss to the team but he’s a big boy and it’s not easy to lose substantial weight at his size and age. They are not going to get any better. Managing him now almost requires someone to manage the managers.

Yeo…still young enough but can’t get on the park. Let’s see how he goes when he returns but I have zero faith in our medical department.

Gov. Well if he loses all of this year that’s 40 games in 4 years. Give him a one year deal with triggers for a second. If he doesn’t like that then see you later mate, thanks for the memories and we wish you the best.

Lastly someone ****ing throw this medical department out, enough is enough. Time for new thinking and new expertise.

We are all walking on eggshells after four years ruined by injuries. Can anyone truly say they were shocked when the carnage began on the weekend?

I’m so conditioned to expect it now I just let out a conceded chuckle and muttered under my breath “Ofcourse”

Bad luck is only part of the equation.

It is biblical.

Just wondering why it didn’t all go down last year like you insisted it would?

I’m always fascinated by the people that spout this rubbish and how they react when none of it ever, ever comes true. Have you seen that ep of Parks & Recreation where the cult hires the park for the date their leader says will be the Rapture, then when it doesn’t happen they just come back and hire out the park for the next date their leader says will be the Rapture? That’s what I assume they do. But I’d love your input.

Petch at very least is a proven goal kicker and has some of the X factor we will lose with Ryan out.

Should get a good run at it barring injury himself- I hope we look back in 12 months and see this is when he proves himself at best 22.

Edwards incredibly poor timing with his ankle- his height would have been useful v Brown.

Having said that I do think we will go Rotham for just that little extra bit of mobility and experience this week.

So my pick of the changes.

Shuey- Yeo (if fit, otherwise Clark)
Ryan - Hewett
Cripps - Petch
Witherden - Hough
Chesser - West/Clark
Gov - Rotham

Culley to sub

Makes us a little bit older overall but I think given the opposition having some bigger bodies will help.

Yeah. Harry's ankle is a problem. Ben Brown is someone he should match up on pretty well, given neither has an explosive first couple of steps.

Fritsch is the one I see causing us big problems. I don't see a good match up for him. Someone like Rotham, maybe, in the course of normal events but if he plays he will be having to play taller for most of the game I think.

Got a horrible feeling that Allen is the mystery man. Also that Edwards won’t get up.

So…
Culley for Shuey
Rotham for McGovern
Hough for Witherden
Clark for Cripps
Petch for Ryan
Ledwards for Chesser (based on his WAFL writeup)
Barnett for Allen

Backs: Barrass, Rotham, Hurn, Duggan, Cole, Jones, Hough
Mids: Kelly, Sheed, Ginbey, Culley, Gaff, Hunt (with Clark and Ledwards taking rotations)
Rucks: Williams, Barnett
Forwards: Darling, Waterman, Petch, Long, SPS, Clark, Ledwards
Supersub: Hewett
Emergencies: O’Neill (held over), West, Yeo

Debut for Barnett to help tag-team Grundy, Waterman to play permanent forward in Allen’s absence.

Yeo to be named on the extended bench to keep Melbourne guessing for a day, but to play WAFL with West, Bazzo, Trew, Winder, hopefully Burgiel. Wow, we went from 14 listed players to 5 or 6 real quick. Will get Foley back the following week, hopefully Jamieson and Edwards, Witherden, who knows about Dewar and Baker, so numbers won’t be quite as dire for long but we can’t afford too many more injuries. This is basically the tipping point.

Hurn Barrass Cole
Duggan Rotham Hough

Hunt Kelly Gaff

Petrol Allan Hewett
Long Darling Waterman

BWilliams Ginbey Culley

Sheed Clark SPS, Jones
Sub West

Yeo to play managed minutes in the WAFL. Last thing we need is to bring him straight back in after 5 weeks and lost him to another soft tissue injury.

Hope not but it would explain why they are being so cagey with the detail. Wouldn’t want to demoralise everyone further with an Allan injury. Just a quiet “out soreness” on Thursday night teams.

BBW is in doubt pretty sore from Sunday , lucky still has three plus days to improve .
Yeo needs to get through training today / tomorrow to be a chance probably WAFL anyway .

It'll probably be a 10 to 15 goal hiding so I don't think there's any point rushing older blokes back in. I'd rather bring in Barnett, Hough, Culley and Bazzo plus whatever older players are needed.

These young blokes need to see first hand a hardened and seriously fit team go at it. Williams will do most of the rucking but a few 5 minute bursts chasing Grundy around could really help Barnett. Likewise Culley and Ginbey on Oliver. Even Hough on Langden who runs harder than anyone in the league.
