There is a positive, this season will be impacted but for the long term we can focus on list building and testing players. The expectation of a win is diminished but the level of effort has been established. Well handled by players and coaches. Grow the list and draft wisely in a good draft year -
we have a bright future.

Common sense says I should be thoroughly pi$$ed off with our turn of fortune on the weekend but surprisingly, I'm not. Our young fellas show promise and there's still a bunch yet to debut, so the future looks bright. I hate to see any of our mob go down with long term injuries but that's footy. For those piling s*it on the medical and S and C staff, grow up and and channel your anger and disappointment in some other manner. Take off your poo-coloured glasses and take solace in the fact that we would have beaten the Dockers last Sunday if we hadn't lucked out. Bring on Melbourne and hope for a good showing, it ain't gonna be easy but that's the way it should be!

Injury changes will happen.

A change that stood out for me over last two games, in particular, we cannot have Gaff and Sheed in the midfield.

Both single sided, plodders who, cannot stick tackles and cannot run out of sight on a dark night.

It has to be one or the other as far as I am concerned.

Bit harsh on Gaff after the weekend. Equal second most tackles for us and equal first for frees (three from HTB). Sheed I agree with.

Minimum six changes with the potential for another one or two if general soreness pays a visit

Need two small/medium forwards, an outside mid, an inside mid, a medium defender and a KPD

Fortunately, the form of the WAFL players has been pretty solid

Hewett could be brought in off the sub bench as a HF for a full game and along with Petrucelle replaces Cripps and Ryan

Clark who’s been playing wing all preseason looms as a natural replacement for Chesser. Luke Edwards would be another option. Or we could push Gaff back outside and use someone like Culley at the coalface

West or O’Neill are the most like for like replacements for Shuey

Harry Edwards if his ankle is good is the logical replacement for Gov. If it isn’t then Rotham is the only other alternative unless they throw in an underdone Bazzo

Hough or Rotham to replace Witherden

Oddly enough with so many changes, there’s going to be a couple of unlucky players to miss out - Petruccelle, West, Culley, O’Neill, Clark, LEdwards, Hough, HEdwards and Rotham could all lay claim for a promotion but some will miss out

My six ins would be
HEdwards
Hough
Petruccelle
Culley
West
Rotham

With one of those to be the sub - probably West

Naitanui to be a surprise inclusion this week.

You heard it here first.
Did hear the other day he is in ripped condition and fit.
The person, who is a Freo supporter and is not a NicNat fan, was very much impressed by how he looked.
Not sure how much he spoke to him or what he actually heard but seemed to come away thinking he is pretty much right to play but they are just holding him back this early in the season so as not to risk anything.
3 rounds in with a win on the board......probably not quite "break glass" time yet.

I don't know where to put this but with what has come out regarding Ryan's injury I have to acknowledge him as one of the bravest players in the competition. Without him there was a genuine chance that you play with nobody on the bench. Not only was he still out there, but he was trying to win it and was attacking the contest. That man is a champion player.

Suma reckons NicNat injury worse then being stated but everyone saying he is ripped and could play this week .
There is no in-between here , plays this week but NO , out for the season
!

Not sure what happens with the ruck might be Rotham and Waterman .

Guessing at today’s announcement

In: Rotham, Petruccelle, Hough, Culley, Clark, Barnett, Ledwards, West, Yeo
Out: Mcgovern, Ryan, Witherden, Shuey, Cripps, Chesser (all cursed)

B: Hurn, Barrass, Cole
HB: Duggan, Rotham, Jones
C: Gaff, Kelly, Hunt
HF: Long, Allen, SPS
F: Waterman, Darling, Petruccelle
R: Williams, Sheed, Ginbey
I (fr): Hough, Hewett, Culley, Clark, Barnett, Ledwards, West, Yeo

Williams to be named initially pulled out over the weekend, replaced in the 18 by Barnett and in the squad by O’Neill.

Final bench to be Hough, Culley, Clark, Ledwards. Sub to be Hewett again, O’Neill to sit out as 24th man, West and Yeo to play WAFL, the latter to get match fitness.

Harry Edwards to miss with his ankle.

Waterman to spend a fair amount of time in the ruck to help out Barnett against Grundy.

Let’s see how close I get.

I'm pretty sure Suma's brain is actually a cauliflower...?
