I don't know. How many times does he get double teamed?
How many ruckman get double teamed? How often does 1 ruckman beat 2 ruckman?

Let me know and we can assess it.

Geelong, StKilda, Hawthorn are three teams that use the tactic. They just wear him down.

Just watch the games and you will see - the opposition ruckman will drift forward and clunk marks and Grundy is not even at the contest. Grundy gets caught too often between the arcs.

I think this season he looks like he is invested in the playing group, so don't want to be too harsh but i think it is reasonable to say he is not playing/influencing like an 800k player.

Roughead looked a shadow of himself. He was being cast aside way too easily.
He’s missed a big chunk of preseason. Probably needs a bit of time to get back in to the swing of it.

the problem is Henry also shows an unwillingness to “go” as well.
WHE will be weeded out in time, atm he isn’t our worst and we are devoid of xfactor as a side in general imo he adds at the least a small bit of it.
Did you seriously just compare a 19y.o who has played sub 15 games total (probably about 20 in total in the last 3 years) with a 28 year old who has played 150+?!?!?

You’re better than to fall into that trap.
WHE doesn’t actually add xfactor.

For every xfactor thing we think he does, there are at least 3 moments that cost us.
I don’t think he adds xfactor at all. He is extremely outside and has only had 1 good season playing as a lead up fwd. he stops more marks than he takes.

Even the kick to Krugs in the 3rd was because he fumbled, had no vision, had no left foot and couldn’t make that kick
Down the line.
So turned inside and got very lucky with krugs leading….that’s not good play.

Like I said, we get his output from a 19 year old….so that would be my preference.

Wilson has heaps more upside IMO as we really don’t know what he is capable of (and he has shown glimpses!).

If it's disinterest he's stuffed too. I suppose the hope is that it's just low confidence making him indecisive.
I’ve been prepared to consider confidence but have dismissed it.
It can’t explain brain fades and blatantly dumb decision making.
But most important it’s does not explain his lack of urgency, or not having a red hot go.

People bag CB, but you can’t fault his effort and commitment every time he steps onto the field.
Similarly Madge.
Kelly could learn from both of them.

Playing on probably the best KPF around at the moment very hard match up Daniher. Collingwood have always struggled to curtail him people forget his Anzac Day games etc…
I'm really glad Daniher is back. There's been such a dearth of kpfs over the last half a dozen years. He's easily the most talented of his age group.

Unconfident indecision can explain the standing around looking moronic until he gets tackled.

I am nota WHE fan check my posting history re his softness but we honestly don’t have a lot of options, he still provides run and a marking target more reliable then Henry for most part.

Wilson I’m sceptical of another mature recruit at 23 or 24 years old that doesn’t like physical side of the game, has no burst attributes that most forwards need and is a 194cm player not over proficient above his head.

Yes I did make mention of Henry’s soft game because if it isn’t weeded out of his game now then in 6 years your comments towards whe will be echoed through a mature Henry.
WHE was once a highly rated xfactor good in the air skinny prospect that was outside and a bit soft sound familiar?

Yup sounds familiar. Although WHe has never had the sticky hands Henry has.

And since we’re rebuilding, my preference is to play Henry/Wilson over WHE.
Think you’ve gone too early on Wilson. I’m going to reserve judgement for a few more games.
You mentioned WHE tricks…but didn’t mention Wilson’s.
Wilson was super hard in the VFL against the hawks. It surprised me how hard he went.
He is as dual sided as they get. Last nights goal show that. He needs to get with the speed of the game and I think he would have kicked a few more over the past few weeks.
Like I said, I’ll reserve judgement on him just yet.

I just think WHE shows nothing we haven’t seen and doesn’t actually provide any xfactor at all. Think that’s a grossly over used term.

He's turning 32 this year, might never recapture that form.
Maybe, but writing someone off after one game based on their age is a bit silly, especially when said player has history of needing a few games to get back to their best after a layoff.

History also says very very few players perform well 31/32, particularly ones who were never blessed with insane talent or natural skill.

So we’re agreed that we shouldn’t write a player off after one game. Cool. Let’s see how he goes for the next month, and if he’s struggling then it will be time to turn to Dean to fill that role.

Zero tackles last night so looks like he ignored them.
So for Grundy one game is the be all and end all, but for Cox we need at least 3 or 4 games to make a judgement?

Nice consistent line of thinking you've got there, ffs

Cox just got back in

Grundy has had 5 games.

Grundy never scares anyone WTHFF for $900K a year. His manager is a genius!

Maybe Brown's 'effort and commitment' can't be faulted, but his performances sure can. He was dreadful again yesterday. I'd be happy if both he and his brother never again played an AFL game.

Yes, 5 games where in the first 4 he averaged 5.25 tackles a game. Curious why you ignore that...

Cox might have played the worst AFL game I've ever seen last night. Defending him is lunacy.

But you are relying on a single statistic to define toughness - it doesn’t - when Grundy tackles it’s more a tickle - if Nankervis tackles you you keep away from the ball.

Grundy doesn’t scare anyone - worlds tallest half forward flanker.

You must be a cranky 70+ yr old man.
It seems it’s all about creating ‘fear’ and you neglect the real stats that matter such as averaging over 4 inside 50 a game and more clearances than any other ruckman in the game. Mind you, players being in ‘fear’ went out about 15 years ago.
