Reid with 6 votes loses the medal by 1 to yeo on 7, or maybe 8.
Hell of a 6th game!
Could legitimately be on 5 Brownlow Votes at this point (3 votes tonight and 2 votes last week).
Won't win the award but 18+ votes for a first year player would be insane (if possible).

Positives +
  • Great win boys
  • Yeo was my BOG as well. We've finally got to see what we've missed.
  • Me screaming Harley Reid's name every time he does something amazing. Was a close second BOG for me.
  • Gov, Barrass and our defence very strong in the air and was fearless. That said, a much better game from Barrass he seemed to move a lot better.
  • Duggan and Cole were great and used the ball well.
  • Hough and Rotham were great and they both shut down Walters with his only goal coming against Barrass.
  • Waterman could contend for the Coleman?
  • Better from Darling than the past weeks.
  • Smashed them in contested possessions.
  • B.Williams competed decently in the ruck despite getting smashed in hitouts and was good around the ground.
  • Pressure was great and we forced them into making mistakes.
  • Great job to most of the other players. Too many to mention.

Meh =
J.Williams ok but didn't impose himself that much.

Negatives -
  • That 4th term has me worried when teams have a fast transition. Other teams we faced earlier in the year and future teams could expose us defending fast transitions.
  • Sheed's lack of pace and poor contested ability is a liability to the team's new gameplan of fast contested ball. Not impressed in the limited time he's in. Better off keeping Chesser on since he's faster than Sheed.

Final thoughts.

You know it's that bad when Freo put a "No Oppo Supporters" is all I'm gonna say.

No negatives it's so good.

We can now show up to every game with an expectation of at least being competitive.

Feels like we got our club back to normal.
Yep. I think there will be a bit of "oh man will it drop off?" but hopefully can turn up to games with hope

We get another week of joy!
Exciting footy being played and the boys look bloody pumped, there is clear connection which has been lost since 2018.

I love being wrong, thought we'd have another shocking year, but we've really shown a lot, even in the losses there's been positives.

Jake playing like Kennedy
Hough playing like Sheppard
Reid playing like Shuey
Bailey playing like Nic Nat
And Yeo playing like a BEAST!!

My hangover tomorrow

Well aside from the obvious positives...

Positives
Chesser going very well. Still low numbers but high impact

Hough must be in AA calculations. Taking out oppo's best small fwd on the regular. Every week a new trophy.

Brilliant pressure a stand out feature of the game.

Negative

Jack Edwards failing to contribute again.
Chesser is starting to look like he belongs at this level. Last two games have seen something there!!

Loved a bit of the Maric tonight.
Don't know his stats, but what a pickup. Kicking sublime
MSD=BSD
Yeah he was good . Played so little senior footy too. Ripper pick up.

Club has drafted really well last few years and it's gonna blindside the east who have been adamant that our youth is not existent.

Such a difference maker when you have confidence and belief in your own ability and aren’t scared to make a mistake. We looked so clean and all on the same page for the first time in a long time.

Last weeks win, albeit against an undermanned side, may have been the perfect settler to get these blokes to believe they’re good enough.

Biggest change this year is how much the players get around each other.

After the De Goey snipe on Hewett, where nobody did anything, there was a game when Chess, Ginbey and Long got into a melee and Shuey paid for it.

Now, everyone mobs each other when they do something good.

Protecting Barrass after the Walters tackle.

Celebrating Reid's goals.p

Maric's goal after the siren.

Etc.

Players are heavily invested.

So so many positives. Particular highlights for me were:

  • Maric's sublime ball use.
  • Reid and Yeo attracting opponents and then handing off to someone open.
  • The obvious chemistry between Reid and Yeo.
  • Waterman continuing to decide he is the best forward at the club and playing accordingly.
  • Seeing the team smile and celebrate. Something is building here.
Only negative was that Hunt looked off tonight. Hopefully it is not because he cut his hair and abandoned the headband.

I also have to declare that my utter confusion regarding Cole's selection has been answered. He was excellent tonight.
