It's tough to balance out the good with the bad when there has been so much bad over the past fifteen years. Our drafting has been consistently poor for a long time. There are some signs that it has gotten better over the past few years with King, Clark, Gresham, Marshall, Battle etc but it's still not proven.Good with the bad.

I think Lonie is playing a more team focused game than he has in the past, not trying to kick 4-5 goals each game just to hold his spot, He’s not trying to jag bananas from the stand... a few more goals would be handy but butler has been delivering the goals for most of the smalls. We're splitting hairs with Lonie and Kent. Neither are great, both are capable of having good days. Kent's kicked 4 in 3 since returning. Lonie has kicked 3 in those games. Lonie wins a touch more footy. Kent has more pace, Lonie is less prone to shocking clangers.
If there was only room for one, I'd pick Lonie, mainly due to his age. At 23 he could still become a more consistent small forward.
The only thing is we already had 2 extra defenders which may cost him.As J-Webs advocate I feel it would be extremely poor form not to bring him in for Longs role.
Out: Ross, Long, Marsh, Kent
In: Webster, Hanners, Byrnes, Hind.
It was poor up until 4 years ago and since then has been quite good. It's tough to balance out the good with the bad when there has been so much bad over the past fifteen years. Confirmed.
Yeah as I said, there are signs that we've gotten it on track but it's not proven. I'm happy with how all those players are going but it's still their potential that excites us, rather than their proven performance (aside from Wilkie who is consistently very good). It was poor up until 4 years ago and since then has been quite good.
Battle, Long, Coffield, Clark, Paton, King, Wilkie and now Byrnes.
That's 7-8 guys in our best 22 looking like having a big future.
Fair enough cant believe that guy couldnt remember that gameOn a cold wet night in 2013 saints smashed by cats and Steven collected 36 possessions. I was there unfortunately. Just one example. Correct and warranted.
My God Lonies even worse than i thought.

Should walk into selection and insist on being dropped...the decent thing to do.
Kent got dropped and lonie didn’t. That suggests the coaches trust lonie more. And I think they know more than you and me.
Parker is in terrible form but we don’t see Him so magically someone think he is better. Sinclair isn’t a real forward. And I’m unsure lonie has been dropped in the last one and half seasons and Kent has only been dropped once. That suggests the coaches think they are clearly better than the other options. It does suggest that but they've both been dropped in the last 12 months. Neither would be in the first 20 picked which leaves them both vulnerable. To me Kent is better. Lonie is too small, slow and is a poor kick for goal. Kent is a better size, quicker but he has concrete hands. Maybe drop both and play Sinclair and Parker instead.
Who are they? Are we talking about petracca draft? The clear 3 best players from that draft are all either father son or academy players.
Unfortunately for Kent, the odd dropped basic mark at critical times really doesn’t do much for his overall reputation with fans despite doing good work throughout games. Feels like he’s always going to be an “almost” player for mine, hopefully I’m wrong.
Harris Andrews, Darcy Moore, Issac Heeney.Who are they? Are we talking about petracca draft?
Degoey not ahead of any of them? I’d have him one. Love the way he plays. Star.Harris Andrews, Darcy Moore, Issac Heeney.
Surely we are due for one.Byrnes having a Worpel like impact would really set us up. It's our main issue. Midfield guns. If he can be that player in midfield, we will be covered in most areas.
