I think if we are going to go two rucks we need to go down the same path Richmond did last year.

Play Ryder 50% in the ruck and then onto the bench.

It means we can keep Battle forward more who's much more dangerous down there.

Shouldn't cause an issue with the rotations with the smaller game times.

Still not sold on Marshall as a forward either. Only reason I don't mind it right now is we are going to have shorter breaks in between games and it keeps him fresh.

Agreed, there's no point leaving Ryder in the forwardline for 30% of the game. It's detrimental to the forwardline.

Gees we won the draw lottery getting Adelaide for their first game at home for ages and looking at the worst start to a season ever. Plenty of reasons for them to get up for this game....
No tex no sloan surely we couldnt **** this up

I went to a game in Adelaide about 10 years ago out at football park, Saints v Crows wearing a Saints scarf I copped a s..t load. Felt like watching a game at Victoria Park or worse. The crowd was feral, Roo was pinged for a deliberate out of bounds ....2 minutes later a Crows play kicked it out without any player within 50 metres I foolishy stood up appealing for a free and was spat on by some classy Crows supporter.

Have never forgotten this......want a win against the Crows soooooo bad.

Whenever we have been favorites the Crows have won against us.

We have the team this time with some balance, yep we can look at what we need (more mids) but I have confidence in this team and confidence and the coaches to rebound after the embarrassment of last week.

Go to saints AO games every time and every time I come away really disappointed and angry at the contempt that we are treated with. Been waiting for retribution for sometime now.

Yep, wore my scarf with pride and thought I would never act like that. Contempt is a fair enough word to use.

When I coach kids in sport (basketball) I emphasise that it as important how you win as how your respond to a loss, that line has been tested by the way Adelaide supporters have acted.

Adelaide supporters are worse than most I have come across.

We have the talent need to play smart as well, Billings / Jones / King / Gresham / Battle /Byrnes / Carlisle / Clark to have huge games

Port had to get up early in the morning to do the same trip against better opposition so it's no excuse.

At least we've got the night game

Yeah, I know what you mean. There is a little difference. Port playing today is probably closer to us playing Freo last week, except Port have been up there for weeks already. And Port are a bit better than we are, and Freo were better than Carlton. The final result always hides a few things.
But tomorrow... I'm not sure how common flying three hours on matchday is? It's not easy running when the legs are like concrete. Who knows, maybe it won't hurt us at all. But yeah I would be impressed if we play four quarters.

Port flew in from Adelaide today

They were up at 4.30am to catch the flight

Yeah Munga I’m not sure the trip is going to have that much impact on the legs tbh. I think the boys will be fine.

LAST TIME I CRIED
I have never, or ever will, forgive Adelaide for ‘97, hate them with a passion.

Saints by 42pts

**ok may have shed a tear in 2009 & twice in 2010 as well.

fu** you idiots wont shut the fu** up will you? The only reason McCartin isnt playing right now is the risk his brain turns to ******* mush due to unforeseeable concussions. Meanwhile you're arguing why we totally should have taken another generic half forward/midfielder who has taken 6 years to turn into a remotely decent player.

ALL in the Adelaide preview thread mind you.
Yep and then I'll get stick for removing off topic posts. But yes, not sure why this discussion is even here, once again, happy for people to talk about it in a more appropriate thread. Will tidy this up now.

Monday games are really weird! The weekend of footy feels done but there's still a Saints game coming up. Must admit, I enjoyed this weekends games much more than last weekend, when following our loss I cursed the game of football for evermore. (Obviously that didn't last.)

A victory would really sweeten the week. A loss, well.... I think Bob Geldof has a song about Mondays, arguably the worst song ever recorded.

Sadly, his other songs are probably worse. We probably would have forgotten about it by now if he didn't keep booking himself at his own 'aid' concerts. Don't mean to be cynical, but perhaps less Boomtown Rats and more African bands would have been worthwhile. Apparently charges a hundred grand for appearances. Make poverty history, huh?
