Mobbs how do you know so much about footy in Europe? Are you involved? And what's your issue with aardvarks?

Never rated them too highly myself, but not to the point of having an open vendetta against them...

Wosh some interesting news out of Croatia today:

Mobbs is very sneaky when it comes to Aardvarks !!! He's like this one minute....

Then he adopts a cunning disguise and approaches the target from another angle...

And then - before you know it....

No more aardvarks.....

I just follow international footy. I love the history of footy as it grew (especially last century) in smaller centres, and now that its mostly on the decline on a domestic level in Australia, the new frontier is abroad! I remember in 1995ish I was on a camping trip with buddies in the Otways, when we came back we stopped for a short time at a pub in Winchelsea and there was some merchandise from the Farum Lions (now Farum Cats) of Denmark stuck on the wall. I think that was my first alert that footy was happening overseas.
Aardvarks was just a Goon Show reference. I've never met one ... that I know of!

This is what I'd collated about Polish footy, MoscowHawk . Probably got a lot of errors, but it's the best I was able to glean.

Wow not bad!!

So Warsaw Saints no longer exist - they changed their name to Warsaw Bisons

Poznan are the Dingos, but they still haven't got their team up and running.

You can add two teams to the list: Lublin Hornets, and Silesia Miners (expecting them to field teams in 2022)

Regarding the results - I've marked some corrections in your post above. Very accurate!

Not sure how you've collated this information, but I'm really impressed. We may have to do something like this on our website actually

I just pay attention to any of the Instagram posts with the updates given there. I love domestic competitions. I focus a lot more on where there is a kind of "league" in action, rather than sporadic challenges. So Poland (and Bulgaria!) are really exciting for me right now. (although I do fully respect that for growing football regions this is much harder to administer andone-off matches should never be ignored as they are the building blocks).

One thing I always notice is that while a region might keep hold of all its past results, they rarely publish them where the public can have a read. It's very frustrating for me because I always want to see a summary of seasons, competing teams, rounds and results, and premiers etc!

Thanks, I'll update based on what you've said. I should have added the Hornets in already but I hadn't heard of the Miners!

I have a much more extensive dataset on Russian footy but even there, there's still a few holes.

Literally amazing. We need to lift our game on recording results. The AFL Polska president is lurking here somewhere and reading all this. He administers the social media, so if you're there Pfil - let's publish our results from now on.

The Southern Derby is on this Saturday too btw. Wroclaw vs Nysa. I'll keep an eye on the results.

This forum is the find of a lifetime! Happy to be here! :D

I'll be keen to see how the derby match goes!

If there's one thing international teams don't have, which Australian teams have in droves, it's tribal lunatics getting aggro about results. That's where we come in!

so if you're there Pfil - let's publish our results from now on.

Noted.

Hey guys, I'm Phil, or as they call me around here, Pfil, el presidente of AFL Poland. MoscowHawk regularly tells me how close of an eye you guys keep on what's happening here in Poland. Turns out I signed up to BigFooty a few years ago, but I'm only just starting to post now. I guess I'll pay closer attention now!

I'll also start sharing results more often now, but we have pretty much shut down until March next year.

Would it be worth starting a new thread somewhere, informing everyone about the story of AFL in Poland? I'm sure there's a lot of stuff you guys would like to know more of, as well as a lot of members here that have no idea we're doing what we're doing here.

Hi there mate !!!

Mobbs is the founder of our league here - where we play in two seasons of computer simulation based football !!

He is also very keen on the overseas leagues around the world and occasionally organises a virtual game between our side (the Roys) and an overseas opposition.

We have been annoying MoscowHawk over the past few weeks, but we are an equal opportunity annoyer - so we can annoy a whole range of people as the need arises !!

We would be keen to hear from you and get updates - but this isnā€™t really the place for a dedicated thread. Iā€™ll try to figure out where it should be and let you know.

But - we would still be keen to hear what is happening !! We are friendly bunch....

We do have an international board you can start a thread on

Thereā€™s also a Clubroom sub forum here where people talk about all sorts of things, nothing stopping you from starting a convo there too...I think a lot of people would find it interesting.
Chief might have more ideas for you too.
