Certified Legendary Thread Sack Hinkley 12 - Finals Are Scary

Legit just leaving the heart specialist and some old boy notices my NFL Chiefs hat.

We get talking about QB's and I asked who he supported.

He said he doesn't really want to attach himself to anybody as he's done that with Port Adelaide his whole life.

I said "well hopefully we get some good news this week" he looks at me puzzled... I said "the coach going"

"Ooh I remember what it was like before he got here"

GTFO bloke... seriously.
I know I'm going to get slammed once again for this but in an exercise of objectivity...

I'm not at all surprised by this. I've sat at the footy with my head in my hands voicing a frustration at the way we lose and have had those around me say the same thing about the coach and what we were and where we are now. Need to remember this thread is a vacuum of the same people saying the same thing and not necessarily a representation of what the majority of members are thinking.

Go Chiefs.

The issue is what now seems to be some mysterious period where we were no good for a couple of seasons, but had some excellent young draft picks coming through, has now turned into some dark ages type period where it lasted for a generation.

Give me a spell man.

I'm not going to post in here if there is an emergency footy meeting, or an emergency board meeting or anything of equivalence.

No update to be had today though.
Ah, so it was yesterday then 😂. But, seriously, hope you are feeling better than last week 👍

Yes, you will get slammed for this

This is mostly conditioning by the Korneses and Caros in the media to constantly remind us of a brief 2 year period and try to set that as a benchmark.

But regardless, the time scale is all off. You're attributing too much angst to a very brief period where we didn't even win a wooden spoon.

That tiny little red blip is the Primus era. Why are we benchmarking off of that and not all the premierships?

Primus was here for not quite 2 seasons at the nadir of a rebuild. He did the hard work of a full rebuild and like most coaches who do, he still cops grief for it.

Hinkley's been here for 12 years and it's been clear for at least 7 that he's not up to it. He just keeps coaching.

Yep, absolutely nothing in the media saying he's leaving,we all know it would have gotten out

Tough to know. The leakers at the club are usually those seeking to keep Hinkley in his job. Davies, Ken, Ken's manager etc.

If there are numbers to sack Hinkley, those people wouldn't have told Caro or Kane

I once worked with a press secretary who concocted a rumour that was in no way true, or likely to be true.

He/She leaked it to a journo friend and the story appeared in print a week later. Said press secretary read the piece and actually believed it.

Some of you are like that. You invent your own deadlines and then wonder why nothing happens at that hour. There are very few people in here saying anything with any real knowledge of what is happening. Chewy has some sources, but he has already given us what he can, and doesn't have the full picture. Most of you don't have any of the picture, so it's pointless bemoaning the fact that Donuts wasn't sacked before a deadline you set. He is done this week, this year, mid-next year even, (gulp).

If you want Hinkley out, you can still do more than just hope. Cancel your membership auto-renewal now, and tell them why. Another thousand quitters will further weaken their resolve.
70,000 members ,they won't care ,most people I know no longer go and here we are, same shit different year

Imagine if make finals next year (I think that's pretty likely given the talent on the list) and Ken doesn't have a contract. They'll have put themselves in the position where they'll have to (by their logic) give him an extension just like 2023.
Exactly,Port make top 4 and the pressure from the likes of Whateley and Caro etc will be too much for kochie,he will fold and extend Hinkley.

Screwing the die hard fans the life blood of the team for the happy clappers/theatre goers just doesn't make sense.

Who will be still be there during the hard times? Not the theatre goers that's for sure.

I think the argument that Butters et al are wedded to Hinkley is an even bigger reason to sack him now rather than next year when some big names will be coming out of contract.

We need to give the players who have only ever known the cult of Ken a chance to see how much better things could be under a fresh coaching group.
Good post.

When you think about it, there are more reasons that he should leave now, other than him just being rubbish coach.

Re your last para, I have done this & also did it last year. I have told them why.
