Take it with a pinch of salt but on SEN I am fairly sure Kym just stated via text, he is off sick) that Ken will walk away and dew will be coaching at port next year. Unsure if it meant head coach or assistant. Don’t know if he would know anything though.
Kym is a staunch Hinkley supporter. It's not like someone in the media to make up rumours or been fed wrong information.

This is the part that I beleive is very true, they have a new breed of supporter Happy Clapper, they don't need or want us, we ask too many questions about accountability that they don't like and can't answer.

We really need to let this go now and move on with our lives. I have supported this club for 45 years and at least I witnessed the real Port Adelaide.

This is also something that I once wouldn't have said, I don't want the reserves wearing our black and white jumpers any more, they have ****ed it over enough, put it away and savor the memories. Our pussy players that love their daddy so much haven't earnt the right to put that jumper any where near their pathetic thin loser skins.
Agree, I don't want them wearing the jumper either. And the club as always totally missed the brief. We should have only worn that jumper on Anzac Day. Like maybe to honour the Magpie players that fought in the war. But no, the petty, pathetic people that run our club had to use the jumper to continue the rivalry with the Crows. And here we are, failures again.
It's hard to like anything about the leadership of the club. Chairman, CEO, Football Manager, Coach and Captain all come across as smug and self satisfied despite having never achieved anything in the game, many of them with tenures that now extend beyond a decade. There doesn't appear to be a strong determination or appetite for success, they appear quite content with where they're at and resigned to the fact that it's a little too difficult to do any better. This comes across really, really clearly and is a massive turn off for the dedicated supporter.
Spot on. Any supporter worth their salt would agree with your post.

Edit: sorry, double post

The young team stuff is basically nonsense and just the line every team in the AFL runs with instead of just admitting they aren't good enough.

Who from our prelim team is going to improve significantly in the next few years?

Horne-Francis most certainly. He'll go from a top 30 player in the league to top 10.

Georgiades will improve but his big steps were taken this year. I see him going from a 40 goal a year player to a 50 goal a year player.

Burgoyne and Evans should improve but it's hard to say how much.

Sinn may or may not become a good player for us, that's unknowable at this point.

Everyone else from that team is basically at or very near their best already. What we actually need is players like Rozee, Butters, Bergman and others to perform in finals the same way they perform in H&A games. Then we might actually be able to do something for once.

People in here saying Hinkley is a lame duck/dead man walking are forgetting the exact same things were being said in 2022.
David Koch said last year he wants Hinkley to be a 20 year coach, and extended him not long after making those comments.

Anyone who thinks Hinkley is leaving Port hasn't been paying attention.
Koch controls the board, and Hinkley tells Koch to jump while Koch says how high.

I was in Bell Park the other day too, went to the bottle o to grab some beers and asked the dude on the counter if he knew Ken Hinkley.
His reply was "who? I don't know who that is".

I disagree with this.

The entire forward line improves out of sight without Hinkley. Georgiades in a good side with a proper forward system is a Coleman contender.

How many players apart from say, Chad Wingard, are playing their best football sub 24? There is always scope for raising footy IQ with experience, and there's a reason why premiership sides are generally among the older teams in the league.

Sweet can absolutely improve his chemistry with the other mids and improve his around the ground game. All 3 of the big 3 can get better and more consistent. Bergman, Jones and Burgoyne are all very young.

We also don't need to improve significantly across the board. A 5% lift and consistent mental application is enormous, the difference between close games and thrashings. Footy is incredibly punishing if you're 5% worse than your opponent.

The term gets misused a lot these days, but this narrative is 100% gaslighting of Port fans by the media.

Finish in the top four 4 of the last 5 years. Shat the bed every time. But it's all good because the list wasn't ever supposed to even be in finals.
The thing is, they were good enough when they chose to be. Flogging the Swans the way they did was extraordinary, as was the first quarter against Geelong - hopefully under a proper coach (if it ever happens), we'll see stuff like that more often.

It's ok taper, your man will still be at port next year. You don't need to rub it in
