The sad thing is we all saw this coming when Ken was extended in 2017.

Still unbelievable that they did that, really. Heads need to roll for being so unbelievably careless and short-sighted.

This is a big part of the problem. Everyone knows extending his contract in 2017 was a big mistake, none more than the people responsible for doing it. Now all of them are locked into survival mode and doubling down on their mistake, which only compounds the problems.

Absolutely spot on as we are also hearing similar from friends and others who have been 'Port Adelaide' all their lives and know first hand what it means to "be Port Adelaide".

These are people like us of somewhat senior years who have decided to spend their money on things they enjoy.

We dropped our Black Diamond seats this year as it became a chore to travel and watch games but we did retain the lowest form of membership, simply because?

Not renewing for 2020 as Hinkley's insulting address at the B&F killed any remnants of caring.
We have lost our identity because we are run by the AFL like a puppet and those appointed to run the club have no allegiance to us or the club. They are only here for their own agendas which causes nothing but a toxic environment, lack of trust, paranoia, poor decisions, lack of consultation with supporters and the list goes on.

Sunk cost phallus-y.

If you want to know why we're up a certain creek without a paddle, let's take a look at 9 years worth of drafting from '07-'15 - ie, players who would now be aged about 22-30 ...

Strike through = gone
Red = going
Green = remaining

2007 ND - Lobbe, M.Motlop, M.Westhoff, Farmer
2007 RD - Salter, Boyle, Willits

2008 ND - Hartlett, Trengove, Broadbent, Banner, Redden, Dawson, Davenport
2008 PSD - Carr
2008 RD - Thompson, Meyer, Stewart, Martin, Laurie

2009 ND - J.Butcher, Moore, Pittard
2009 PSD - Harding
2009 RD - Hitchcock, Webb, Cloke, Dawson, Bass, Johns

2010 ND - Jacobs, Newton, Young, O'Shea
2010 RD - Jonas, Hay, Irons, Curnow, M.Westhoff

2011 ND - Wingard, Ah Chee, Blee
2011 PSD - McCarthy
2011 RD - Pfeiffer, D.Butcher

2012 ND - Wines, Clurey, Shaw
2012 PSD - Colquhoun
2012 RD - Mitchell, Hoskin

2013 ND - Impey, Harvey, Byrne-Jones, Amon
2013 RD - Russell, S.Gray, Renouf, Flynn

2014 ND - Howard, Austin, Palmer, Frampton
2014 RD - Krakouer, Logan, Wagner

2015 ND - Bonner, Johnson
2015 RD - Snelling, Hewett, Houston, Mitchell

We have more players remaining from the 2006 draft than the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 drafts combined. And more recent drafts don't appear to be a hell of a lot better. There's only so many gaps you can fill in your list through trading and free agency. You need to draft and develop your own players.

Just more proof we should have kept Butcher.

Spooky. Immediately below this post was an ad "Jesus is the answer". Now being trolled by Google, who are presumably aware that we knew this, but delisted him anyway.

Exit report.
Good team player. Was treated like a G-d by his team mates. Excellent kick. Great marking ability. Refused to lay the hard tackle when required, but he spoke well. AA nominee but the coach had no option but to delist him for refusing to get his hair cut.

Outcome
Was crucified by the media for all the wrong reasons.
Went onto greater things outside football. He literally changed the world.
Credit was bestowed on the coach for being bold, and the chairman was bemused.
The Board and happy clapper supporters believe the coach to be the messiah.

Crows now sack Burton and Campo. Clean slate.

Meanwhile Port with the "top of his game", "Alot of people don't like me right now."

Doing some work for the Governance Evaluator.

Lord ****ing knows we need them in our club right now. Formal and effective processes for reviewing collective and individual director performance? Who would do such a thing.

CEO performance requirements clearly documented and agreed to?

Does the Board have remuneration policies and processes to ensure responsible oversight of the remuneration of the CEO, executives and staff?

Does the Board have the necessary skills and attributes to effectively govern the organisation?

Is there evidence of a high functioning and trusting relationship between the CEO, the Chair and the Board as a whole?

Does the governing body regularly review the direction and priorities of quality services?

If you replied no to all of the above, welcome to PAFC!

Can you blame our members and supporters for their wary, if not deflated reactions to this news?

Last December, the club provided Dougal Howard with a contract extension until the end of 2022. The day it was announced, he was rolled out to front the media, where he proudly declared his love of playing for Port Adelaide.

Then, in May of this year, Ken Hinkley described Howard as an "emerging leader of our football club" after selecting him as a stand-in captain for our AFL side. His future at this club appeared both bright and secure.

Fast forward to today, however, and Howard has requested to be traded to St Kilda. He was allegedly informed that it would be in his "best interest" to "go and have a look elsewhere" by our list manager. The club did not deny this version of events - detailed by Howard's manager on Trade Radio - in the late-evening statement it issued after receiving backlash from the Port Adelaide community.

It is a sorry state of affairs when people can no longer trust their football club - but it demonstrates just how far ours has fallen under the current administration.

Post your lol's and sad reacts below.

Rates its own thread.

THE TREATMENT OF DOUGAL HOWARD - What Does It Really Mean?

This is the big one.

I know from experience how difficult it is to operate in an environment where segments of the board do not support the CEO.

The toxicity manifests very quickly.

I blame Gold Coast and GWS even in the years they didn’t exist.
