The bloke has more than 2 years remaining on his contract, so of course he was going to stay on.

It's been said time and time again, the club f’ed up by prematurely extending his contract in a Covid-ridden season. We just don't seem to learn, and most of that falls on David Koch and his lack of football knowledge.

On Sunrise yesterday there was a segment on employability. As soon as it finished the hosts closed it off with the following: "Nobody's job is safe," remarks Natalie Barr, Koch's co-host. "Tell me about it," Koch retorts as he looks at the camera with a smirk on his face.

A glimmer of hope? A message to the fans? A comforting statement to Big Footy members? A clear message to Hinkley to get his act together, perhaps?

I wonder how all his Geelong ex player advocates reputations are going with this endorsement

Lol. You realise the lack of respect we have across this competition as a club? We're seen as the equivalent of Freo or St Kilda. The fact that he's always got us at least in the finals mix, makes and wins finals every so often, etc, would be seen as a supreme success.

never understood. Bassett excellent backman.... now a forward coach?

It must be contractual that assistant coaches get the opportunity to coach different field areas as part of their development. Hardly ideal though as our forward structure appears non existent.

Given our injuries (and there are too many) This week has a dreary feeling about it, can’t see how we kick goals, Hinkley must be dreading this game.
One thing is for sure...there'll be no game plan implemented, or even attempted, to maximise our chance of winning with the players we've got. It'll be the same aimless, dumb, kick and hope shambles that is standard on Hinkley's watch.

I don't think it is a problem. I don't see it different to the days when there weren't line coaches and you had, for example, Cahill a ruck rover as a player yet coached a team to many successes with functioning defence, forwards, and midfield. The question really is whether Bassett is a good enough forwards coach.

When's the last time cutting to ken in the coaches box showed him delivering instructions, talking to an assistant, giving a spray or literally doing anything other than staring blankly or chugging coke?

Last time someone tried to tell him what to do this happened............... RgI_ofJ25JwGTgHHGWVJiapHwpPMNrBGsvPnwpe8NFo.gif

Knowing our luck Koch will appoint himself as Ken's replacement.

Exactly. Coaches will forever deny this across all sports, but some of them are simply not able to win at the highest level, but rather their strength lies in taking a terrible team, getting them out of the doldrums to a point whereby they are looked at as a solid middle of the road club who can have a purple patch here and there.

Take a manager like David Moyes for example. Very solid at Everton but won nothing. Goes to Man United who have come off just winning the EPL under Sir. Alex and he couldn't even get them to qualify for the champions league. Years later he pops up at West Ham who were the surprise packet of the season.

A title winning group of players is nothing without a coach who can bring them together to become a title winning team.

Hinkley should have gone to the Gold Coast back at the end of 2017 because it was near the perfect job for his skill set. Essentially absolved of all responsibility because the club is a basket case, he could have his connection kumbayah moments and get the team playing with a bit of spirit in the first 12-24 months whilst being in a bubble to escape any sort of media criticism given on the goldie there is none.

Scott Skiles etc

did anyone legitimately think the board were going to sack him this year? lol
