Rowey asks 1 half decent question with such an apologetic tone to insinuate the ferals at Alberton have no idea what there saying

Hinkley has a contract for next year which puts him in a strong position. Ports have a difficult run to make the finals. Win v losses will obviously impact both parties view.
IMO an amicable agreement to all would be the most likely process for a change.
Change?? Ken still has a year to go at Port all true believers need to get behind him.

Hinkley reckons you still get what you deserve after spending 10 minutes making excuses for being a loser.

Hahah. It’s genuinely funny amidst talk of ‘Chasing Greatness’ and ‘We Exist To Win Premierships’.

Provided everything goes our way on tutorial difficulty, I guess.

Not coming in 2023, surely

Guy McKenna was named and then coached the Suns from U18 to the VFL/NEAFL(?) to the AFL from 2009-11.

Could see a similar progression if they’re greenlit, but it would surprise me if it’s Clarkson. Not too many blokes with money want to spend their sunset working years in a cold climate.

He spent the whole interview ducking and weaving. The whole grandpa thing with Rowe at the start with the fake laugh was cringeworthy. Brought out of few of the ol' chestnuts like judge the team after 23 rounds herp derp. Just walk already moite.

It did, but still when faced with the final part of the walkthrough:
'To complete the scenario and claim your prize make ANY change when losing a Prelim'.
Ken 'Where's the ANY key? I thought this was a tutorial! I'm having a Coke Zero and pressing Quit.'

Rowey "credit to you ken" "coach staying in the moment"

Why the media are protecting him is astounding. Either they want him employed keeps us medicore or they generally believe he quality
Stupid is protecting Hinkley because Stupid is a Camry Crows supporter and wannabe ambassador.

Realistically if there's dialogue that it's coming to an end there should be a 'you might as well piss off now' moment when finals are virtually impossible.

If and when he formally signs on to coach another club then he'll walk.

Did Rowe play his "THEY'RE GONNA END UP WITH KEN HINKLEY!!!" soundbite by any chance?

If we get Pyke, I don't think too many Port fans would complain. I'd certainly endorse his appointment - partly because it'd upset Crows fans, who want us to reappoint Hinkley. If we were to then become a successful club under their former coach, it'd rile them even more.
Yuk. The last thing I want is the crows sloppy seconds. The power stance in the GF? The camp? Tex as captain? The lack of support for the indigenous players and the gigantic drop in form after their GF appearance. No thanks

Geez,

I'd be up there as one of the most pro-sack Hinkley people within our entire supporter base, and would've done it in 2018 (because I never would've given him the crazy extension he got in 2017), but perspective people. Ken is trying his guts out, in general he is a good guy. He's done a pretty solid job, there's a difference between being the worst coach in history and being a coach that just isn't good enough to take us to the ultimate. Ken is the latter, he is good, but he is never going to be great.

I don't know how any Port fan can hold that against him personally. It isn't him that is accountable for himself having a contract and being persisted with, it is our board. It was our board that jumped at shadows in 2017, and that got over excited after years of failure by a good draw in 2017 which exaggerated our ability. The board should be accountable for that extension.

No one was ever going to sack Ken after 2020 and 2021, finishing 1st and 2nd, making prelims, he was never getting sacked. However the bar then became GF in 2022 or bust and at 0-5, with the poorly prepared players, a stale message, a stale gameplan, and stagnating players, it has become 100% obvious that he should be sacked at the end of the year. That's not on him. That's on the BOARD.

Perspective. The sort of level of hatred and childish attitude you're talking about above is just silly. It's like Grace Tame, it's a social media phenomenon, people being way too offended and extremist in their views. We can all still be nice, polite and respectful, and still get along while having our opinions. Ken should be sacked, Ken should be farewelled and wished all the best, but he shouldn't be hung, drawn and quartered for just not being good enough. It was the board that let him stay and is the board who should have the gumption to sack him and cop the criticism it deserves for the fact we've burnt the last few years with Ken for zilch.
Brilliant post. You’re way to rational and well written to be in this thread.

He's done a pretty solid job

Even that’s generous, all told.

Once the Darren Burgess advantage fizzled out and Chad Wingard (drafted 2011) lost his superpowers, he was only ever a stack of Robbie Gray (drafted 2006) clutch moments away from being loaded onto a rocket and fired into the sun.

Even the relative Boaknaissance of 2019-Present occurred because someone had the bright idea to remove him from the engine room and then, look out, are we recording this, put him back in.

The sheer scope and scale of the lost half-decade of 2015-19 won’t truly sink in for years yet. Had a winning lottery ticket and burned it, because, he’s a bogstandard tactician and could never consistently get his team to perform due to a basic overreliance on individual magic over effective structures.

But yeah, bring on the “he’s done a t’riffic job” and “when he arrived” and “the club was off to Tasmania” bad take festival.

How's Mathew Lloyd on footy Classified, Port would need to win at least 1 of the next 4 games for Ken to keep his job you would think, lol.

Noticed that fireman Cornes stayed right out of any Ken talks.

Are these people serious.
Got Richmond, Sydney, Gold Coast, and FLAGMANTLE in the next month. Thursday seems the likely win weirdly.
