He doesn't hold a Sherrin mate. Winning the flag's not a race. We'll get there one year, why does it have to be now?
St. Kilda fans have been saying that for 56 years!!!

Don't post a story from 2017 with no context or indication of when it's from.

If Ken signed with the GC he would've been the highest paid coach in the AFL at the time. Pretty extraordinary that Koch had to up his offer to 1 million for Ken to stay.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see similar stuff revealed about GWS' offer to ramp up interest.

'He can't stand the joint', what a bizarre revelation. You don't often hear that reported.

SEN Hungry for Sport regular Greg Denham says despite Ken Hinkley signing a lucrative contract extension to remain at Port Adelaide he “can’t stand the joint".

Denham, who wrote in The Australian this week that Hinkley wanted out of his deal at Port Adelaide to sign a multi-year deal at Gold Coast, says the coach was speaking with a forked tongue in trying to smooth over rifts within the club.

“He can’t stand the joint and can’t stand the chairman but he’s there for four more years,” Denham said.

In signing the new deal Hinkley suggested he and chairman David Koch had "robust" discussions but all were on the same page. It's been well documented Hinkley and Koch had rarely seen eye-to-eye.

Gold Coast reportedly offered Hinkley a five-year deal worth an estimated $1.2 million per season. Port Adelaide was then forced to counter with a deal closing in on $1 million a season.

Denham is adamant Hinkley had discussions personally with the Gold Coast and was looking to find a way out of his current deal that expires at the end of next season.

“It’s the biggest rort I’ve been associated with in a while,” he said.

“It’s very clever from ‘honest’ Ken though.

"It was a forked tongue."

Some have suggested Hinkley’s loyalty to the Power is based solely on his strong relationship with the playing group and not any solid allegiance to the club’s hierarchy.

“How can you walk away from a group that you built and you’ve been a part of?” Hinkley said this week.

“If you know me, leaving that behind is nearly impossible.”

It seems five years and $6 million nearly did it.

This is a worry.

PORT ADELAIDE marquee signing Erin Phillips has been selected to take part in the AFL’s Women’s Coaching Acceleration Program.

Successful applicants will be employed by their AFL club for at least two-years between now and 2025 and will work toward achieving a level 3 AFL coaching accreditation.

As part of the program, Phillips will be involved in a formal mentorship with Port Adelaide men’s head coach Ken Hinkley, who is also working closely with women’s head coach Lauren Arnell, to support her professional development.

Next year it will be a different mentor.

Lol. Ken Hinkley might be a lot of things, but he would still know a billion times more anbout football than some female novice coach.

Sorry but you come in here and insult posters with your comments, actually the moderators should put a ban on you for comments like this. (You’re way to rational and well written to be in this thread.)

If you want an adult conversation, maybe you shouldn't generalize by implying we are all irrational because we choose to post in this thread.
You’re not seriously suggesting that this ‘insult’ is ban-worthy, this board would be a ghost-town if it was. 😂

Ken let me assure you mate it’s mutual and has been since 2017

do you genuinely believe Ken Hinkley's mind is full of modern day AFL tactics? He's never outcoached someone before. Erin would already know more about that.

Erin working closely with the head coach Ken Hinkley, the 2 year comment, Ken may be around a little longer than we think.
i read nothing into it. Erin will be mentored by whoever is the mens coach for 2 years who at the moment is Ken

PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley would like to turn the tables on AFL commentators linking him with the vacant Greater Western Sydney head coaching job.

"I dismiss it," Hinkley told reporters on Wednesday of the speculation.

"I don't take any notice of it because I'm committed to Port Adelaide and I have got a job to do at Port Adelaide.

"This happens all the time, speculation just comes from nowhere and a lot of it, unfounded speculation.

Immediately after the interview Hinkley sent a text to his manager, "youse keep up the good work".

If i'm Ken Hinkley I'm certainly not waking up everyday and thinking "I love my job, I feel secure in my job, we're really going places, the board love me, the fans love me, life at Port Adelaide couldn't be much better".
If you are actively trying to stay in a job in the position he's in you're a complete sociopath or you're there for no reason other than the pay cheque.
Ken Hinkley, GTFO.

The club isn't dismissing it, or even attempting to shut it down. That's the key.
Yeah, but with our club that could just as likely mean they know Ken doesn't have a job at GWS lined up, but doing the spineless thing and keeping in 2023 will (they think) be an easier sell to the gaslit, if they think Ken is so good others are chasing him, so it's definitely better to stay with the known (most winnest in 2020/2021 coach!) than a new coach.

Hinkley is a shit coach, but I can at least trust his intentions - to do what's best for him. I have zero trust in anyone off field at the club with any power (no pun) to do what's best for the club, over what's best for their reputation and ego.
