I can see him hanging around as a Neil Craig style director of coaching type role for years at unsuccessful clubs.

Could genuinely be a great fit for this sort of role. Director of Coaching at a place like Gold Coast could seriously turn them around and get them in to finals. Its exactly what he is good at - instilling the basics.

Who's going out of their way to talk Josh Jenkins about Hinkley?

I could care less if he played for Port. Part of the problem we've had recently is that we've promoted from within and most of our coaching box is ex players, cornes, lobbe especially that wouldn't get a job at another club.

The reason we've never accepted him is because he's a smug campaigner with a loser attitude

No it isn't. It's entirely realistic. We could sack him in the next 5 minutes if we wanted to. It might be unusual, but it's not unrealistic.

There are plenty of posters on this site who run businesses. I doubt any one of them would keep on an employee in a crucial role within their business who despite being given ten years' worth of opportunity and development and support in that role still clearly wasn't up to it. Keeping that employee on your books just to save face is what's 'unprofessional'. It's bush-league.

The media is doing their best to protect Ken. In the last week we've had Dixon say not supporting Ken is stupid and Kane Cornes has said that not supporting Ken is ridiculous. I'm sure the next comparisons will be against West Coast and we'll be told that our expectations are too high e.g. no club can win with injuries just look at West Coast!

Ken was very much accepted at Port in the beginning. He had two solid years of unbridled support. Possibly even three.

We had 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 with a solitary EF loss to our name. Any coach at any club would be getting stick from the supporters with that record. In fact, most clubs would have sacked their coach after that record and no one would have batted an eyelid, let alone had media-for-hire calling out the supporters as being ungrateful and unrealistic.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Ken is only several games away from breaking the record for most games coached without a grand final appearance.
Isn't that an indication that his performance isn't to the standard expected at this level?

Hinkley was actually accepted by Port Adelaide supporters in his first couple of seasons as head coach. It was only from 2015 onwards that he lost the faith, and acceptance, of Port Adelaide supporters with the exception of the Kool-Aid drinking happy clappers. He's been recognised as the mediocre coach and snake oil salesman that he is and only Koch and the board continue to be fooled by his "I just need more time" excuses.

Exactly this and even David King can see it. This team has never had a fall back structure in tight games either from behind or in front. The fact that after 10 years with the same coach and effectively his second list of players they still haven't worked on this is probably the most glaringly obvious failure of Hinkley. It shows that he's either incompetent or lazy and relies on luck and individual player brilliance to cover his deficiencies.
