Unchanged category includes:

Chris Scott - 11 seasons, 10 finals, 2 grand finals, 1 premiership
Damien Hardwick - 12 seasons, 7 finals, 3 grand finals, 3 premierships
John Longmire - 11 seasons, 9 finals, 3 grand finals, 1 premiership
Ken Hinkley - 9 seasons, 5 finals, 0 grand finals, 0 premierships
Even the changed category includes coaches who won multiple grand finals (Clarkson), made grand finals (Buckley, Pyke, Cameron) and could possibly include another premiership winning coach (Simpson) before Hinkley is moved on.

It's f•cking unbelievable.

This stat really blows your hair back when you see it in cold text:

Ken Hinkley, Finals Games

• 2013-14: 3 wins, 2 losses
• 2015-21: 2 wins, 3 losses

Yep, clearly the man to get us there.

Ken Hinkley, Finals Games

• 2013-14: 3 wins, 2 losses - every final was a knockout final
• 2015-21: 2 wins, 3 losses - wins the 2 double chance finals, loses the 3 knockout finals

Yep, clearly the man to get us there.

If you ever wanted to prove that first impressions count, this is Exhibit A.

A 50% win/loss finals rate isn't THAT bad. Even successful coaches are often around that mark. It's more the fact that in 10 years he only even gets there half the time.

Yeah, the years were the key factor for me.

3 wins in his first 2 seasons,

2 in the ensuing 7 going on 8.

Number of coach changes since October 2012:

3 - Adelaide, Carlton, North Melbourne
2 - Brisbane, Essendon, SUNS, Melbourne, St Kilda
1 - Collingwood, Fremantle, GWS, Hawthorn, West Coast, Western Bulldogs
0 - Geelong, Port Adelaide, Richmond, Sydney

Unchanged category includes:

John Longmire - 11 seasons, 9 finals, 3 grand finals, 1 premiership
Ken Hinkley - 9 seasons, 5 finals, 0 grand finals, 0 premierships

In addition, all of the above are currently in position to once again play finals and possibly more ... whilst Hinkley is 12th and set to reduce his finals participation rate back to 50%.

I reckon that certain longer serving personnel at the club still believe Hinkley is the most fitting coach for Port and don't want to part ways, and don't believe they should but may have to for the sake of attendancs/members even though they believe they know best and we're incapable of their wisdom. That they still believe he can deliver success but he's been unlucky. That they believe with Hinkley we won't have seasons as we did with Primus, that at worse he keeps us in a safe on field position, that they fear a change in coach may bring turbulent times that financially the club cannot survive. I reckon they know it is a hard sell to the members to keep him and are increasingly nervous about missing the finals because making finals would give them an excuse to blame injuries, blame the new midfield transition, and project to the members that we would've finished top 4. I reckon they're struggling to come to terms with the inevitable change because they didn't see it coming.
If Geelong win it all they will massage it as sticking with their coach through a rebuild on the run and aay Hinkley is doing the same and we just have to be more patient.

So we're better than GC, St Kilda, Carlton, and Essendon who have had 3, 3, 4, and 4 coaches respectively over that period.

Can't complain. Hinkley's outperforming two out of the big four Vic clubs.

12th and loving it.

Hinkley is just a failure.

Got to the point of even if he some how jagged us a premiership I would be... That's nice.. U can still * off.

Yeah, you know that is a statement you can make, without any chance of it being fallacious.

Great word fallacious. Wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I re-watched the movie 'Lovelace' over the weekend.

Anyway

SACK HINKLEY:poo:

We Exist to be Bronzed

I have seen zero 'Sack Hinkley' banners in the crowd.
I feel like a part of this is the tacit understanding between the members and the club that as soon as we are mathematically out of finals contention the club will do the right thing and sack him (rather than while we are realistically out of finals contention as we are currently)

Once we hit that mathematical threshold and he isn't sacked then I reckon we'll see a few pop up in the crowd... The Richmond game or the Showdown will have some very interesting vibes if it hasn't happened.

... But hopefully it doesn't come to any of that and he gets sacked tomorrow based on the weight of evidence and exposed form that we have that he is a football charlatan who has robbed us blind for a decade... (with that in mind, I'll see if El_Scorcho still has his banner laying around somewhere)
