Listening to some of the arguments defending Hinkley, you’d swear that no team in history has ever changed coaches considering how unsure they are about who you replace him with.
What these people need to do is take Hinkley out of the situation totally.

Now look at the club and have a good look at where we are on field, our 0-4 start considering we are supposed to be a top 4 team, our failures over the last 9 years under the same coach. Take a good look at our fitness, our structures and development of talented youth, both A & B teams, then have a look at our 13 million dollar debt.

Would it be fair to say members, supporters and the media should be asking the question of the current coach and president. Even if the coaches name was Kevin Sheedy, he's just a coach nothing more, it's not a personal thing.

Ours happens to be Ken StHinkley so what's the difference he just happens to be the coach atm.

I can think of one person who hasn't got what he deserves yet ...

IF YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN

It’s ridiculous how little he has practiced what he preached here. The essence of that phrase is you get out what you put in, but according to Ken Ten anything sub-optimal has always been caused by something beyond his control.

I don’t know if he still applies this mantra to the players but he certainly doesn’t hold himself to it.

He plays the victim like no other. It's quite impressive if you can get past the nausea.

The ABC has weighed in again:

"What on earth was that on Thursday night? A sleepy, meandering, aimless performance from Port Adelaide largely gave Melbourne the night off."

The disquiet grows, regardless of the efforts of the sycophants and Crow apologists...

There's no shame in losing to the Demons, and almost everyone will this year at some point. But like that? After last week? Port Adelaide fans were stunned into silence, shocked that things could have become so bad, so quickly.

Do Charlie Dixon and Aliir Aliir solve all of these issues? Of course not, no two players can turn a team that failed to score in a half of football into the premiership contenders they believed they were.

.....The fixture will loosen up and a top eight push is still very possible, even probable. Port Adelaide aren't so lucky though — lose to Carlton next week and go to 0-5, and big calls may need to be made.

Yeah Baby!

"Deserves the right to coach his way out of it".

Nobody has ever deserved the right to coach their way out of it less. Three false dawns and no grand finals in a decade.

"If you want to sack the coach .... what next?"

lol, Kornes using FUD to defend Hinkley.

What next Kane? We get a new coach, that's what's next. No guarantees the next coach will be a genius but we've seen enough of Hinkley to know that his time is well and truly up.

Hinkley is in his tenth season as an unsuccessful coach what makes anyone think that he is capable of coaching his way out of it.

One of the guys at work told me today, "I want Owen to remain at Alberton for at least another week." To his surprise, I replied, "So do I - it'll be another nail in Ken's coffin."

We will have no one there by mid season let alone end of year if nothing changes now. They'd have lost a Motza on the Thursday night game already.

The fixture day and time configuration is changeble after round 9. In terms of the fixture, it was looking very good commercially. We've got a prime tme Friday night in Round 8 against the Dogs to embarrass ourselves in but after that we'll be back to the graveyard shifts. The year is also cooked from a financial point of view. All of the projections the club ould have made will now be well under. They need to cut their losses with this loser now. I'll go watch us lose by 10 goals on a Sunday twilight with an interim coach. I won't go watch us,win lose or draw with Hinkley.

The floating fixture will see our marketing opportunities and crowd numbers crash and burn, surely Koch, etc can see this?

Just looking at the next few after Round 9:

Round 10 you would say we were almost certainly penciled in for a Friday night away against Geelong, surely they won't bother with that now.

Round 11 home game against Essendon probably penciled in for a Saturday night, now probably a 17th vs 18th Sunday Twilight affair.

Round 13 away to Richmond, coming off a bye round usually means a Thursday and a Friday night game, we could've been a chance for either, but you'd imagine Essendon v Carlton and Brisbane v Saints get those spots now.

Round 14 home v Sydney probably was always a Saturday Twilight match and probably stays that way, but if things aren't different by then it's probably a 15k crowd max.

Round 15 home v Suns, lol, get ready for a record low crowd and calls for us to move to Tassie.

Since clearly we don't care about piss poor football, surely we can make our decision on a purely business level? Sack him now.

Just fu** him off now. There is nothing to be gained by keeping him. Nothing. SO much to be lost though.

I agree he should go now, but so should Bassett.

We have a terrible list to inherit - no obvious key position forward, ruckman, key position back or midfield premiums waiting in the wings.

Yep just imagine the next 2 home games:
  • 0-5, facing a team we've never beaten at Adelaide Oval
  • 0-7, facing the team that humiliated us in the preliminary final
If Hinkley is still in the box, the crowds for both games will be sub 20k, you'd think.

What’s next? John Butcher playing coach obvs.

I must mention the comment I heard on the Sunday morning after the loss to the Crows. It might just be the most ridiculous thought ever expressed by anyone, ever.
According to the authoritarian nuph-nuph who shared the studio with KG, supporters of struggling clubs have no right to complain.
I paraphrase, but this was the gist:
"Supporters should remember that it's not a right to pay their hard-earned dollars for memberships, it's a privilege, so they should just shut up and get behind the club."
If our club shares that view, it will be stoney broke by season end, because there will be plenty of diehards that won't pay for the privilege of watching Port burn while Nero swills.
