Isn't this one just the worst? This exact way of thinking is why people feel forced to stay in abusive relationships. There's other coaches. Why would they have to be a big name now? Was Hinkley a big name before Port? No. He failed to get the previous 2 jobs he applied for.

I only knew him because I ended up with about 6 of his cards when I was collecting Select '95, which ended up being a cruel foreshadowing 20 years in advance.

On October 8 this year, Ken Hinkley will have been coach of Port Adelaide for 10 years. That is a great achievement whatever you think of the bloke, and we have experienced some tremendous highs during his reign (as well as a few lows admittedly). As such, my mum, dad and I were at the dinner table tonight eating a lovely roast lamb dinner made by mum (I helped peel the potatoes and carrots and dad picked the rosemary and made his famous gravy sauce. For dessert we had a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some biscuits dad scored from his work (for those of you that don't know, my dad has worked at a biscuit factory for a while now, and was recently promoted to a management position. As such he receives bonus incentives such as free biscuits every now and again(my mum reckons its a bit naughty but that doesn't stop her from eating them! ))), and we were wondering what sort of celebration we might throw if he reaches the milestone? I've been in my room most of the night drawing up an anniversary Guernsey we could wear round one next year to get the ball rolling, I thought maybe let's all get brainstorming and see what we can come up with as a collective.

A few other ideas I had include

• a special Ken-box at our sponsor KFC, full of Kens favourites and maybe a free toy bobble head Ken.
• a commemorative coin to be used at the coin toss of our first home game
• a stand named after him at Alberton, and a framed picture in our hall of fame.

-a special Re-issue memorabilia release of our win over Melbourne in round one, 2019 (Kens favourite win)

Wiki tells me Chris Scott was educated at the exclusive St Kevin’s College in Toorak, Melbourne.

Unsure about Ken, quite probably Camperdown High School. He is one of ten siblings.

Although I like interviews, I could handle a coach that doesn’t do well. But he would need to excel in other areas.

The main issue with Hinkley is that he overextended his stay for far too long. That stressed his flaws beyond healthy levels, and people defending the indefensible only made matters worse.

Absolutely disgusting to be blaming the supporters. Would like proof of the abuse they are allegedly getting because I'm sure our and their definition of "abuse" seems far different to criticism vs controlled narrative.
