I left the GWS game early. Only 8 points down with half a quarter left and yet I knew, knew, we weren't going to win.
Maaaan I hate that feeling it’s like whenever and I mean ever we are down by 3-4 goals you just know we ain’t coming back

I lost my shit at the Robbie gray 5 goal showdown when the crows went about that far up, it’s probably the only game I can think of where we did come back oh well sucks for us it took a GOAT Masterclass to make it happen

We have more resources off the back of the board that you are all calling a bunch of spuds.

Hear hear!:

• Guernsey rebrand thanks to Lil’ Lucy Burford’s Planet Teal entry: September 2009

• ‘White Knight’, businessman and philanthropist Gordon Pickard, delivers the first of many donations and initiatives to the club: 2009-2013

• One Club merger of PAFC & PAMFC: November 2010

• Adelaide Oval redevelopment and associated SA footy governance overhaul gets the go-ahead: 2010-2011

• Debt Demolition campaign raises $1,000,000+: May 2011

• Port vs Melbourne final round game moved to pre-redevelopment Adelaide Oval as a test run for the CBD stadium’s popularity and feasibility: 30 June 2011

• AFL & SANFL funding package to both Port ($9,000,000) & the Crows ($3,000,000) for seasons 2011/12/13 agreed upon: 30 June 2011

• KEITH THOMAS APPOINTED CEO: 26 August 2011

• DAVID KOCH APPOINTED CHAIRMAN: 2 October 2012

• KEN HINKLEY APPOINTED HEAD COACH: 8 October 2012

Koch and friends were so talented they managed to secure the club’s future before they’d even walked through the doors — and the shameless pr¡cks who stink up this thread refuse to give them any credit for it!

The most laughable part of reading this thread today is there are people comparing us to Geelong......in no way shape or form are we comparable to Geelong on field or off field. They have a system were Chris Scott acknowledged their & his failings post the preliminary finals last year, made changes and they won it all. We hid from it, hid Hinkley and bombed. Proof is in the pudding.

We had injuries all year, so did Geelong & 16 other clubs mind you, Geelong won a flag, we didn't.

Draw up any rubbish conclusion you want to justify this season, facts are it was a abject failure. That's after Hinkley said in February we were coming for the Flag. Another point thrown away by Rucci & the Hinkley fans.

They can all try and polish the turd anyway they want, fact remains 2022 was a steaming turd from our football club. No other way to see it.
It's quite silly to suggest Chris Scott is vastly superior to Ken Hinkley.

Chris Scott has never won the AFLPA Coach of The Year award, while Ken Hinkley has won it twice, so the gap between them isn't anywhere near as large as you're suggesting.

It actually took a GOAT masterclass and a Motlop miracle.

'take the phone off the hook Donna, I reckon work is gonna ring to say happy birthday, but I'm still on me time off! We're not answering!'

2017 was such a turning point for the club that it will affect us for the foreseeable future. We have a stable foundation in the playing group. We had clearly underperformed 2015, 2016 and get toppled out on the first hurdle in the finals in 2017, therefore resulting in utter disappointment. The coach, orchestrating said disappointments, threatens to go to another club. It is clear to a growing number of supporters that he doesn't have what it takes to take the group to the ultimate prize. As chairman and board, you have a few options:

1) Relieve the coach of his duties - probably a bit premature, but he's had ample opportunity and failed in the last three years. However, you don't want to show your club as push-arounds. If the coach wants to go, let him break the contract, stand your ground.;

2) Back in the coach to coach out his final year of his contract and prove that he deserves an extension, and negotiate at the end of 2018, let him fight for his future and more importantly for the club's future;

3) Extend the coach's contract for three years in addition to the coaching out the current contract, with little or no performance clause for future extensions, in the meanwhile offering him a raise on his previous contract. Bow to the coach's every whim...

The easiest thing to do, even without the benefit of hindsight, was option two. If he breaks his contract and walks at the end of 2017, so be it. You don't need him. He isn't committed to the club and that is clear for everyone to see.

How anyone could have chosen option 3 is far beyond comprehension, even without the benefit of hindsight.

The alternatives argument is just the last refuge of the desperate. Everyone started off as unproven. And there are plenty of proven coaches that could be talked into doing the job (Scott, Pyke, Lyon, Buckley, to name a few).
Craig McRae was an unproven coach this time last year - Pies fans now have a renewed hope for the future, that wouldn't have happened if the club had done what Port keep doing: reappoint the bloke who can't win the games that count.

I saw this on Facebook and had a flick through all the comments wishing him happy birthday and saying nice things about him. I was laughing my head off thinking about what this thread was going to be like. 😂

Simply by being IN the Grand Final makes Sydney closer to a flag

Would have thought that was a pretty basic concept
St. Kilda was painfully close to a flag in 2009 and 2010. But the fact is that their premiership drought will still extend to 57 years in 2023.

If we are talking the 2022 season he should've been sacked after the Russell Ebert tribute game.

A fukcing disgrace that will never be forgotten.
Yep - I haven't been back to Adelaide Oval since that night, and won't return until Ken and his millions have left the state.

I dunno, I'd be more than happy for him to be appointed as Crows coach.
