All jokes and pessimism aside, how do people see this actually playing out? If we lost the first 5 games I could maybe see him getting the flick... but I reckon if we have even a 60-70% win ratio early in the season, I can see him being resigned mid-season. I think it's far more likely that he gets re-contracted than not unfortunately. I say this because if we were going to sack him, it would have been at the end of last season. IMHO the club are basically waiting for him to hang himself. They dont have the guts to pull the trigger and I think they're waiting for media pressure to make it untenable. They are too in love with stability and the the pats on the back they get for standing by their coach. Not completely unjustified either. Look at the savaging we get in the media any time we've put any heat on Ken from internal and the mauling we get as a supporter-base for questioning.

If we’re 7-4 or 8-5 at the bye the groundswell from his suckholes and fluffers in the media will be irresistible — luckily we have strong, knowledgeable personalities in charge who can stand up to such pressures 🤪

We live in an age where people with megaphones have figured out that lying big and often and long is a lot more convincing than truth and proof and evidence and common sense. The Holy Grail is when those people knowingly lie, yet when they see the lie repeated, then believe it. I've seen it happen in politics. Why not football, where self-preservation is more important than premierships?

Sack Donald Hinkley

You just know that if he has a positive win-loss ratio at the half-way point, Blucher will be circulating rumours that the sharks are circling and Koch and Richardson will start sweating bullets that they'll be "in the newspapers or media without a position".

Apparently that's why we signed him up again in 2017.

'There's some relief': Hinkley re-signs with Port

Thomas admitted the Suns' interest in Hinkley was a motivation for the Power to get the deal done.

"Because of the speculation and all the intensity of all of the media, it did accelerate the process," Thomas said.

"You don't want to be in the newspaper or in the media without a position.

There’s that 2011/12 mentality shining through again — Because nobody would’ve leapt at the opportunity to coach a Port Adelaide outfit that still had plenty of juice left in the orange, eh Keef?

Yeah, if it's a choice between re-signing Hinkley or being left standing with my dick in my hand, I'm learning to play the piano one-handed.

If Hinkley went undefeated and gave me $1mill he could stay for another 10 years

Peter Blucher's either really smart or David Koch is really dumb. I'd wager the latter.
When Blucher told Koch that Hinkley was going to break his contract and take the Gold Coast job Koch should have told Hinkley to not let the door hit him on the arse on the way out. That would have been the Port Adelaide thing to do. Instead Koch's ego would not have been able to survive having a coach quit on him so he extended Hinkley on a very generous deal. As long as we have a morning TV show buffoon running the club as a vanity project mediocrity is the best we can hope for.

Chris Brown tipped to replace Sunrise's Kochie:

Kochie has been hosting Sunrise for over 20 years, and although fans have been calling for his exit, he signed a new deal last year.

Seven’s CEO James Warburton convinced the star to stick around until the end of 2024, but the star negotiated ‘greater flexibility’ as part of his new deal.

This sound familiar with our old mate Hinkley?

Wha happen, Shirvo?

If this is a Ch7 campaign, Koch may be in trouble, but it's more likelly coming from a desperate Ch9. Ratings is all that counts.

Anybody else hear rumours that Hinkley will be extended another year or two with a view to mentoring Josh Carr for the senior role? Heard some guys at work talking about this.

I am hoping it's just hot air because there's still a few people at work who seem to think that Hinkley's done a good job.

Those people at work should also be sacked.
