Heres the script... and we all know this will happen or close...

1) Hinkley signs 2 year contract. No succession plan for Carr
2) Bomb out of finals losing 2 finals (probably a prelim)
3) Port flunks 2024 and misses finals
4) Carr takes a senior coaching job late in the season and leaves
5) Sack Hinkley / Koch threads hit 1,000,000 pages
6) Port has a good year and is in the top 4 in August 2025
7) Koch extends Hinkleys contract again
8) see point 2)
9) rinse and repeat

which ones?
Technically he is correct - there are two. Essendon and Carlton.

11 clubs have been closer than us during Hinkley's tenure: Adelaide, Geelong, Melbourne, Sydney, Bulldogs, Richmond, GWS, Collingwood, WCE, Fremantle and Hawthorn.

2 clubs are identical: Norf, Brisbane

4 clubs have not been as close as us: Gold Coast, Carlton, Essendon, St Kilda

The difference is that those other 4 have actively tried to change things to deliver success, rather than just sitting back and accepting failure.

Forgive the intrusion but as an outsider it's hard to understand the vehemence that some Port fans have against Hinkley.

He had you guys within a kick or two of a flag in 2014 then came close again only a few years back and now you are top 4 and in with a chance again.
I realise there has been no flag but there are many bigger clubs around that haven't come close to winning one in the time either.

I can't say I've never called for a coaches head but it just seems odd to do so when you are having success.

Anyway best of luck!

An obvious troll from a supporter of a club that sacked a 4 time premiership coach because it was a good idea to sack him.

Amon had a good game and a good win. Hawthorn board is imo quite balanced and moderated. Must be a shock to visit this thread.

Brace yourselves for the Hinkley backers to coming out with .........

Remember it's not the coach it's the players we never had a quality list.

Along with "who else would you get" this is the view of a former AFL captain and his advisory committee to the clubs board. And that former captain is not Warren Tredrea.

My apologies- I should have said "Many other clubs including two bigger ones in Essendon and Carlton" I wasn't trying to denigrate Ports stature.

I get that it's been a while since your last flag but there are 17 other teams vying for it too and even with the best coach in the world there is still a big element of luck.
Keep in mind that as a new club you won one very early on in the piece (it took Hawthorn 36 years).

There's really nothing lunatic about this thread, it's just passionate supporters that are extremely frustrated with the club they support and financially invest in showing unprecedented levels of faith in a head coach that hasn't achieved any success.

Whateley is a professed lover of Ken, he has an extremely biased view, and guaranteed would care more about the fortunes of one of his ex Geelong hero's than the fortunes of the Port Adelaide FC.

Without a doubt, Simpson, Voss, Nicks.....if you had any other supporter base faced with 11 years of the same coach, being extended again after year 11, without so much as a GF appearance they would be venting the outrage just as much. Very naive and disingenuous to think otherwise.

Most of us find it deeply disturbing that the club is closing in on 7000 days since our last flag, or the fact that Minibus Hinkley (so called, because he's half a coach) is the competition's least successful coach ever. That doesn't make us lunatics - it makes us passionate Port fans, who are craving long overdue success for our club.

What you're missing is that the other clubs who have failed don't constantly talk ("we'll win 3 in 5 years" for example) and constantly spin failures as successes. They make mistakes, learn, have the guts to make tough decisions, and try again.

Look at Melbourne for example - they moved on Daniher, Bailey, Neeld and then put Roos in for two years before going to Goodwin. They've had 4 coaches in Ken's time. But eventually they got it right. Carlton have gone through 5 coaches in Ken's time yet they're now currently the form team of the competition... and I'll bet that if they do fail to capitalise they won't sit on their hands saying "oh but look at Voss he made a prelim that time", they will act decisively if they can secure a coach more suited to the job.

Port Adelaide is the only club in the competition happy to tread water as an "also ran" year after year, calling it a success.

Just announce it and put us out of our misery you spineless ****ing cowards.

The fact the obviously feel they need to sugar coat this carefully to the supporter base tells you a bit. Most of these things happen at, what, 11am?

Thanks man. What would we do without you and your made up bullshit. Freo supporter by the way
You obviously don't read my posts properly, I told you guys ages ago that Ken wouldn't be sacked if he made top 4 and that a succession plan with carr was on the table. Both of these things are true.
