Forgive the intrusion but as an outsider it's hard to understand the vehemence that some Port fans have against Hinkley.

He had you guys within a kick or two of a flag in 2014 then came close again only a few years back and now you are top 4 and in with a chance again.
I realise there has been no flag but there are many bigger clubs around that haven't come close to winning one in the time either.

I can't say I've never called for a coaches head but it just seems odd to do so when you are having success.

Anyway best of luck!
In the last 8 years under Hinkley they have only won 2 finals, never won a prelim, what success are you on about?

How many of those bigger clubs that havent won a flag had the same coach for 11 years and counting?

I'll save you the effort.. the answer is none

Success? You are having a laugh right?

Presser at 3pm

Can it be too much to ask for one of the media attending to put Koch on the spot about Donut's record in finals?
Most of them will be too busy trying to give him a gobby but they will have to wait until Whately is finished.

Don't be a Plonka !

Obviously I still hope we see a Premiership this year. But....if Port Adelaide fail to make the Grand Final do you think the club would be open to having a complete independent review of all operations? The regime keep telling us how great our football program is but the results in the last decade would indicate this is not the case.

Near the beginning of that decade Port destroyed Richmond in a final with a young, burgeoning list. Since then, Richmond has gone on to win 3 premierships while Port has gone on to........

Yeah, awesome football program.

Our definition of success is obviously different than yours. We didn’t become the most successful football club in Australia by celebrating good efforts.

Lol but seriously, anyone reading through this thread would say this is a bastion of the lunatic fringe.

Those posting outrage at the 2 year appointment are definite candidates for this bastion of a lunatic fringe.

Theres more they are so outraged that they are not attending games, not renewing memberships, not sharing their outrage on bigfooty, divesting football interest and …..

Its a diabolical outrage for sure!
Hinkley is has only managed 2 finals wins since 2014, he has coached more games at win club without making a GF than any other coach in AFL/VFL history.

Imagine passionate supports being outraged over such an unsuccessful coach being guaranteed 13 years here.

In the entire History of the AFL no coach has ever taken more than 7 years to win a flag. Hinkley is into his 11th year as coach, why not wait until the end of the year before committing further to a proven failure.

But Kornes told us what a bad Kultcha Richmond had bcoz Cotchin dressed up at their Mad Monday..

Meanwhile at Port's.....

yeah i'm with you 100%. I would've waited until the conclusion of the season. But i've known for weeks that wasn't happening.

i don't want us just to win that weekend i want to win September 30, and i believe we are 1 of about 4 or 5 teams max that can do it. 5 is probably a stretch.
Mate I sincerely hope you're right - I despise the clowns in charge at the club, but it's been a bloody long time between drinks, so winning a flag would be brilliant!!!

I personally have a problem with supporters of clubs who have experienced real, sustained success coming on here and pontificating about sucking it up and taking our medicine. Basically, "just be grateful you get to play a final every few years and shut your gobs".

Since losing that final to you, despite an expectation that Port would win multiple flags. We have won 2 finals, zero knockout finals and have missed finals more often than making it.

No coach has coached more games for one club without making a GF. No premiership coach in the AFL era has taken more than 7 years to win their first flag, Hinkley is in his 11th year and is being given a contract out to 13 years before finals have started.

So tell me, how is it hard to understand how we are in happy with him as coach ?

There is a very, very strong argument that he is the biggest failure and greatest under achieving coach the game has ever seen.

Thank god my boy will only be 4 at the end of the new contract...I hope he never experiences Port under Hinkley and his eunuchs
He might be in a sweet spot, by the time he's getting interested Hinkley will be gone and who knows, maybe even Grand Poo-Bah Koch might have had enough by then and we'll get some people with a real Port Adelaide mindset in charge. Might be the start of a glorious new era! Here's hoping, anyway.

Just 15 games away from becoming the least successful coach in AFL/VFL history? Whatever you're on man, I want some...
