Actually the amount was $1203 of which $1155 has been paid to Blue Central over the past 2+ years to pay for the hosting.

Not a single cent of the donated money has gone to anybody other than Blue Central.

So do we need another funding drive to keep it alive?
Is there any way the next incarnation can be more secure?

...How difficult or expensive is it to have a splash page in place at www.sainsational.com to advise forum members of what's going on?

SS is a valuable resource for many of its members..... but the handling of this latest episode seems to highlight a disdain for them.

It seems to more about timing than anything else. Those who have tried to get hold of a plumber or electrician in Melbourne in the past 2 weeks will know what I'm on about !!

I don't think so - we're paid up in advance until December 2011 (maybe longer if we get some 'compensation' from the hosting company) and there's no need (IMO) to raise money now.

Haha what a joke, some people take the moderation of a fan site way too seriusly, as far as I'm aware everyone involved is a volunteer just like the mods here, if you have a problem with it try doing something other than whinge.

As for giving your money away I wouldn't know but it seems like people made 'donations' rather than purchased a product.

Bakes, as Joffaboy said, SS is very tolerant of questioning, and I in my time, mod as a mod and before/after have never seen anyone "slapped down like a petulant", even when some posters did indeed behave like petulant children IMO lol.

If you want slapping down, wander over to Saints Footy facebook and question the Admin there about how he runs his site as you have done about SS. I promise you that you will be blocked from contributing further post haste, no warnings, no emails, no nothing. I'll happily supply you the names of a dozen people its happened to. Ive been an active critic of the site for reasons that I wont go into here (and Im sure this lil speech will get back to him lol) but I still happily admit he does provide a service, a lot of people like it, AND he sponsors a player. You just have to play by his rules without question

I must say i do cringe every time saints footy post's. I dont know whether those two saints fan pages on facebook want to feel important and wants to be 'in the club' and look 'cool'. I just sit back and laugh at the stuff that is said especially on the saints footy page. I guess though that makes up 60% of AFL supporters.

By the way i think this Saintsational website will be quite amusing. I think i might just sign up when ever it gets going. It has always been good to hear what outsiders think/Know about the game. Its amazing, back in the 80's i would have a chat to a man outside the changerooms at Moorabbin, he was always greeting us after every match for years. This chap had a football mind like no other, was amazing to hear him talk about football, put alot of my teammates at the time to shame. But then of course the supporters who think they know whats best for a football club, was amusing to listen i must say.

No i understand it was a very tough period for the club, their were times when we thought we wouldn't be playing for the saints next season. Luckily for me i didn't just play in the 80's. I do know it was tough for the supporters. I think that period taught us alot and i am sure we will never be in that situation again. I enjoy every St Kilda win, no matter if it's 1 point or 100 points. I am glad to see this club come so far from where it was.
I thought it was only 4 games we won

I posted on here sometimes well before SS experienced difficulties, as probably have many others.

Perhaps some of bigfooty's better St Kilda posters, are in fact regular (and perhaps annoying) SS posters, you just wouldn't know given it's anonymous would you.

Don't panic Garth, not everyone is a 'whinging whiner' and you may find the increased traffic brings with it some quality posters from SS, and there are many.
