Firstly, like everyone else, I’m not happy that the club chose to deliberately downplay the injury. If they thought it was going to be 4-5 weeks then that’s what they should have said

Secondly, Simpson seems unhappy about the decision. Perhaps he’s admonishing himself for his involvement in making a mistake or he’s cranky at being forced to play a charade not of his choosing. It’s impossible to know which but in either case, being economical with the truth has Nisbett’s fingerprints all over it. There’s times to be secretive, and on occasion it’s served the club well. This wasn’t one of those times

Finally, this type of shit does a disservice to the S&C/ medical staff as it makes them look incompetent. I’m inclined to believe the original diagnosis was 4-5 weeks and it’s genuinely become a bigger problem than first anticipated but by not being truthful about it, anything that’s said has to be met with a level of scepticism not just for this injury but for all of our injured players

And it’s not as if our injury reports have a stellar reputation for honesty to begin with.

I think there was just an air of optimism after a cracking preseason on the track. To then come out and say Nics going to miss a month is so deflating to fans, sponsors and maybe even his teammates who weren't clued in.

Eagles opted for the death by thousand cuts delay delay delay strategy, which makes you wonder how often they've done it before.

TBH I'm more inclined to grab tickets to watch the yoof. Also, pressure off. No need to get grumpy if we lose. Just enjoy the green shoots and throw back a few Gage Roads froffs.
