For me - I’m not ready for an inexperienced coach.

I want a leader with proven standards at this very moment.

I want Ross and I would settle for Buckley.

If we all believe the potential in a number of these players.

Then I want them to rise to the standards of those coaches.

No more warm hugs and reach arounds.
I would be pretty happy with Bucks to be honest. Hated mediocrity, very intelligent. Bucks and Lenny combo sounds pretty good to me.

If we get this right I think the new coach is a good chance to get more out of the Billings, Clark types who are talented but have failed to live up to that talent.

Yeah to me it's Clarkson or bust but obviously that's out of the question so we go fresh. It's such a massive decision, couldn't give a rats arse about draft picks and trades after this news. We simply must get this right. At least the club understands the issues internally and has the balls to correct mistakes.
That’s fair. Fwiw clarko would have been hard no from me even before the investigation.

Rumours out of Hawthorn and the way he left looked bad. I think he might be a 90s coaching living in a 20s world tbh.

Ross as coach is a consideration.

Bolton/Hird/Rutten/NOBLE etc.

I’d cancel the membership. Walk away and my 2 year old can support the hawks
Ross made it clear he didn’t consider Essendon because they wanted him to interview.

The entitlement alone is a no for me, then consider he hasn’t coached since 19 and generally butchered clubs as he was leaving.

Any of the above is a shit option tbh.

Personally (and it’s gonna be personal for everyone) Bucks if he’s keen gets an interview slot with a bunch of untested guys.

I posted Ross’s interview the night he knocked the bombers back.

That’s not what he said. He said it didn’t feel right - so didn’t put his hand up

The other I would consider is Hardwick but he's not going anywhere.

To be making this call this late we either have someone already lined up ready to walk into the job or something terribly wrong happened during the review process because initially Ratten was exempt from the review, then the club announces Walsh on the 5th October, week later he's gone.

Obviously the club have waited to see what came of the trade period before announcing it...probably trying to not scare any potential recruits away by a recent coach sacking...in which case the club probably knew of this much earlier in the week...Walsh was only announced last Wednesday lol. Just ruthless (and I love it, feelings aside).

Bassat and Lethlean need to go as well. You can't stand up and throw your weight behind the coach with a contract extension, and then a few months later carry on about mediocrity, with a review that sees the coach gone. Inconsistent and weak.

I rate Bassat. Lethlean, well he can go with Ratts.

Personally I don't give much of a s**t what anyone outside of the club thinks or says about the decision, I couldn't care less. We need to do what is required to win a flag. If we believe this is what is required then we do it, as we have done, as opposed to keeping someone on for fear of public backlash.

It's not about what people think of the decision, it is about attracting talent (on and off-field) to the club. The image of the club in the wider footy world is of an organisation that trashes and burns talent.

I don't mind this decision if it is right for the club. But the way it has been made I think leaves a lot to be desired.

What talent have we burnt and trashed?

Us having someone lined up is what worries me.

Watching Essendon toss the keys to Scott just to get him in the door was shit. Made a mockery of the “process” and smacked of desperation.

I’d much rather we say “it’s a 3 stage process, here are the parameters, go get your PowerPoint done now” and discount anyone that doesn’t give that full effort.

Yeh and plenty of others in the media said he wanted nothing to do with a process and expected to be given a contract.

Ross is an ego maniac so I’m not trusting his word (even though Essendon did look like shit).

Hopefully, if so it’s pretty much entirely because of Max King. Clearly the right coach can build a side around him.

Honestly should have played finals this year and a half decent coach would have had us play a final. Even with internal growth I think we could jump up next year even though we haven't done much with the list so far. I'm excited for the future again after being completely despondent about our trajectory. We're a roller coaster ride.

I'm worried about the appointment but confident enough to know we aren't the shitshow that Essendon are. We have good people running this review and we aren't going to shoehorn someone into a role like they did. Apparently he didn't even interview.
