Half of them are overseas. The captain was at the Yankees game the other night
Well, they do get text messages I presume. Would have to have told them first.

Yeh and plenty of others in the media said he wanted nothing to do with a process and expected to be given a contract.

Ross is an ego maniac so I’m not trusting his word (even though Essendon did look like s**t).
Cmon mate, the bloke literally got interviewed and said he was getting walked through to the second round of essendons shit show and turned them down.

They literally gave Scott the job. So the “media story” doesn’t match what happened there.

If he wanted the job. It would have been his.

Bassett is a very successful businessman and he now has to front the media and look like an idiot. Lethlean is by his side in that meeting. I can't get a read on this, either Lethlean was a dissenting voice about Ratten, he might be letting a departing Finnis take the rap, or it might be window dressing and he is quietly replaced over summer.

Honestly should have played finals this year and a half decent coach would have had us play a final. Even with internal growth I think we could jump up next year even though we haven't done much with the list so far. I'm excited for the future again after being completely despondent about our trajectory. We're a roller coaster ride.
My biggest critisism of the coaching was after the bye, we started with a shocker v Essendon, it was an eye opening shock after the pre bye form. The issue and greatest disappointment is that the coaches could not get the team back up at all for the rest of the season, they lose confidence and there was nothing to change the downward spiral.

Seemed to be going well when the team was up, but didn't have the ability to change the teams mentality.

With the terrible trade period we just had it was difficult to see where the improvement was going to come from considering we barely improved our draft hand and didn't bring in any decent established players to fill the holes.

At least, with a new coach, there is some hope of a different outcome then the road we were heading down

I think he's run his race at the Dogs, he's angry and the players are bored of him. His list was all midfield and no KPs. Bruce going down, as ordinary as he was made his chances of winning that premiership a hard ask.

I'd interview him. The Dogs would probably be glad to lose him but can't cut him because he's been so good for them.

Beveridge is an interesting one. He has deep connections with club as an ex-player, childhood supporter and via his dad who was a legendary recruiter.

I remember Beveridge interviewed with Danny Frawley when they were remembering the late Trevor Barker. Frawley was very emotional at the end and you could see there was a bond between Beveridge and the club.

I think the timing is wrong though. He’s contracted and the Bulldogs won’t let him go. But I think the Saints job would appeal to him.

I'd be happy with Leppa. Goes to Tigers = success, goes to Pies = shoot up the ladder.

I hear him speak tactics on the radio and he is clearly head and shoulders above every other "expert" as far as understanding and explaining the game.

In 10 minutes you learn more about the game than 10 years of Richo and Ratts bumbling on about "effort".

Leppa is easily the outstanding candidate from a tactical perspective. I just don't know anything about his people-skills, etc
I have heard from a current Collingwood player that Leppitsch is the brains behind their game plan. Getting that list to a point away from a GF is an unbelievable outcome.

I always think that the head coach doesn't need to be the best strategist, as long as the head coach is on board with the best strategist.

I would be pretty happy with Bucks to be honest. Hated mediocrity, very intelligent. Bucks and Lenny combo sounds pretty good to me.

If we get this right I think the new coach is a good chance to get more out of the Billings, Clark types who are talented but have failed to live up to that talent.

I just had a weird feeling that Buckley and Lenny would only need to grunt at each other and they'd have total communication.

Personally I think that outcome was absolutely shit and made a mockery of the process.

Ross’ ego is legendary and I don’t want him personally, you do and that’s fine. Agree to disagree

I might be alone here but I would love it if we got Hird ..... imagine if he was the one to win us our 2nd holy grail and how pissed Essendon and the media pundits would be

It would be *ing hilarious and epic
I wouldn’t have any issue with Hird if he was deemed the best for the job, but surely he’s been out of the game for too long and will need to do an apprenticeship before he’s a serious chance of coaching anyone again.
